### "Cool collaborative platform"

January 14, 2021

5.0

Pros

Basecamp adds a cool twist to the already ubiquitous sharing and collaboration platforms. It is very simple to use. There is no ramp-up or training needed. It is launch and go ready. It shows what everyone on the teams are doing, has easy access to shared docs and media. You can set up any kind of group and give each user various access. It's good to use and I like the reminders.

Cons

The GUI could use a bit of work. It has a dated appearance. Functionally, it's good however for very large files, you may want to use a database or repository like SharePoint.

### "Excellent way of keeping on top of your projects"

August 31, 2021

5.0

The software has proven to be an essential tool since I started working remotely.

Pros

Very straightforward tool to manage multiple projects and different teams.

Cons

Basecamp could offer a way of bulk assigning tasks (it can only be done manually at the moment).

### "Great project management software"

February 8, 2021

5.0

I used it for a variety of digital media projects. They were great for keeping track of where everything was in the project and who still needed to complete tasks.

Pros

I loved the ability to follow a project from start to finish and upload any and all files needed. It was great for going back to projects down the road to follow the process and find old versions of files.

Cons

It was a little hard to get some of the older members of our staff to buy in and follow the project process.

### "One of the best project management solutions"

January 16, 2019

4.0

Like all project management tools, it takes some time to get used to the flow and how it will work best for you. It took me weeks to really start going through my daily digests, but now they save me a lot of time. Also, like other similar tools, your success will depend largely on everyone on your team using it consistently and in the roughly the same manner.

Pros

Several things stand out. The daily digest email is extremely helpful. It's a great finger-on-the-pulse way to keep up with all the projects you're working on, even items you weren't emailed about directly. Second, the search function works very well. It's really a drag when you have dozens (or more) projects to sift through and the search function doesn't always work. I've never had that issue with Basecamp. Last, it's nice to be able to select who on each team should receive a Basecamp message, especially on projects with many daily updates. This way, team members don't have to skim through every single message to see if it's relevant to them.

Cons

One suggestion I'd make is something that automatically detects if a file upload is a new version of something already uploaded. Often times, people don't delete older versions of files in a project and depending on the file name, it can sometimes take time to locate the most recent version of a file. That could be a real headache if someone spends time working from an out-of-date version.

### "Excellent for managing projects"

October 10, 2019

5.0

Basecamp solved the big problem of having some team members using their own calendars and to-do lists to track each of the projects. This is a more centralized system and dates, deadlines, etc. can be tracked. Our productivity has improved

Pros

I like Basecamp, of all the applications I have used I think this is one of the best for project management for team work, it is easy to use and can be used on mobile or from the pc. Its simplicity and ease of use make it a good alternative to other project management applications that may be more robust but are still more complicated to use

Cons

Basecamp is simple and easy to use but also this means that there are some options that are not available, if you compare it with other platforms. It can be a problem but if you look at the price, it's a very good option

### "Basecamp, the Management Champ"

April 21, 2023

4.0

Basecamp has been a valuable project management tool for my business, helping me to stay organized and efficient in my work.

Pros

The platform's project management features, such as to-do lists, messaging, and file sharing, have greatly improved our ability to work together on complex projects, while its reporting and tracking capabilities have given me valuable insights into our progress and performance.

Cons

For businesses with more complex project management needs, other platforms may offer more advanced functionality and customization options.

### "Basecamp is great for remoate companies"

August 19, 2022

5.0

I help out a friend who has a small business, from time-to-time when I'm in New England for the summer. She uses Basecamp for her business and I was intrigued by the idea of integrating it into the company that I run... which employs our folks in a primarily remote manner. It was tailor made for what we do. While there are a lot of tools in the Basecamp package, we tend to focus on the team messaging system and task assignment features. While we don't tend to use it in conjunction with our client facing endeavors, the software has outstanding file sharing capabilities and can serve as a platform for those relationships. If I'm honest, Basecamp isn't inexpensive... and we need to figure out how to deploy it in its entirety. There's a great deal of potential in this tool and we haven't truly dug into all of that potential yet.

Pros

Group messaging Task management Task tracking Pricing plans

Cons

It can present with almost "too many" features. The app is a must... as the online version comes across as less streamlined. Lack of a time tracking feature, makes it tough to use as an HR tool.

### "Good, for what it is"

December 7, 2018

4.0

My overall experience with Basecamp was ok. At the time, it was ok, but it had its flaws. Truthfully, a good number of my coworkers chose to work outside of Basecamp because of those issues. Again, it could be better now.

Pros

In my opinion, the best thing about Basecamp (the level that I used, which admittedly was a lower level) was the ability to organize project threads under a top-level brand. You had a dashboard (or Launchpad, I believe it was called at the time) that showed all of your brands (this is how we structured our instance) and then you could click into that to find specific projects. The organization that I was part of when I was using Basecamp would use these threads to proof out pieces of larger project and/or get approval from numerous stakeholders. For this purpose, it worked, in the sense that you could share with multiple people and review feedback in a single thread...

Cons

...however, the biggest place that Basecamp fell flat for us was that there was no formal approval baked in. There was no accountability. That was our biggest issue. (Full disclosure, Basecamp may have rectified this in a more updated version, or a higher level on the pay structure)

### "Basecamp offers a very solid platform for project collaboration."

November 13, 2017

4.0

Increased team collaboration and visibility into project information and content. A fantastic "start" collaboration solution for teams of any size. Easy to learn and get up to speed with quickly.

Pros

Basecamp is easy to use and understand. You can get going with very little effort and start collaborating with team members thank to an intuitive interface and plenty of documentation and tutorials.

Cons

There are some user interface design and functionality things about Basecamp that I find to be frustratingly "behind" compared to competitor team collaboration solutions. Most of these things can be overlooked if you are not a power user, however for big teams that are collaborating fast and at high volume, Basecamp suffers a bit compared to other solutions. Regarding user interface: - I find the style of design to be a bit heavy and not terribly streamlined. - The "center column" layout condenses available screen space for content, which means a lot of vertical scrolling is required - The color scheme doesn't prioritize information very well. It gives many different things equal weight, which makes it hard to "see" what you're looking for at times Regarding functionality: - The way that content sorts (oldest first vs last) can be infuriating and feels counter-intuitive to the way most of us interact with content these days (most recent first) - Some of the integrations are not as useful or intuitive as would seem possible

### "Easy to use and helpful for collaboration with clients and colleagues"

April 21, 2020

5.0

Overall I think that Basecamp is a highly useful piece of software and would recommend it's integration into any company that has a range of clients and staff to keep track of.

Pros

Easy to use and helpful for collaboration with clients and colleagues. This software helps me keep track of work that I need to do and have done. I can share work with bot clients and colleagues so that they are aware of what is going on within each clients account. I have used several similar products and Basecamp is my favourite so far, due to it's simplicity and ease of use.

Cons

The cost of the software is quite high for what you get. I know that a lot of competitors offer a significantly lower price. More features would also be more beneficial.

### "Remote Work Made Easy with Basecamp"

February 10, 2022

5.0

I can perform all my tasks in one place. From meeting with other team members to file sharing is now possible with Basecamp. Instant messaging allows real-time communication with my client. Since a client has many people working under his belt, group chat features enable us to exactly know what is going on.

Pros

Working with clients remotely is all in one place. The client portal allows me to check the tasks assigned to me. The dashboard has all the tools like group chat, live chat, instant messaging, and activity tracking. And it allows each team member to know the tasks we're working together on.

Cons

Not affordable for individual users. The price favors businesses with large teams.

### "An easy to use project management option"

February 5, 2019

4.0

Overall for many companies this will work really well. They have an app that allows you to access your projects anywhere you have a mobile phone and while the over all product could have more, its very very good for the price and super easy to use.

Pros

its super easy to use, you really can't go wrong here. The ability to assign tasks, set timing on those tasks, attach files to either the task or the project and track when items were completed makes this very very good for many companies that want someone cloud based.

Cons

It can only do so much. We have used multiple project management tools and this one works well, but for more tech oriented companies where you want to have more control over tasks and some ability to link them to other tasks, (i.e. sub tasks), this unfortunately cannot do that.

### "Great for team management!"

January 30, 2021

5.0

Working remotely in business administration supporting various business owners, it is great as a central location for allocating tasks to be done and work on - both by our clients to us, to each other as well as personally.

Pros

This is a very useful app for team management - easy to set up different areas for each client, choose to invite them to it or not; for communicating with each other without interrupting anyone's work flow. Helpful that you can set up a task template and then copy it, allocate to people and see what progress they have made through their tasks. It is very 'open' so it's easy to look at what others are working on. Great for collating documents and

Cons

Obviously, this is only as good as your understanding of it. We have worked hard to make the best use of it - making sure that tasks always have a date for completion; that people are added to project areas and are tagged so that they don't miss out on information. They have improved the 'clientside' of this software, so now it is much clearer to see what a client has access to.

### "Easy to use and made project management a breeze"

July 18, 2018

4.0

Pros

The calendar feature of the software was probably my favorite thing about Basecamp. Compared to other project management software I've used, the ability it gives you to drag and drop tasks in the calendar view made rearranging the puzzle that is a marketing design calendar much easier. The ability to keep conversations about projects or tasks within tasks also made it easy to keep track of notes about clients, documents, etc. Things tend to get lost in emails or chats, so having important things related to a client and their project in one place was nice.

Cons

When I was using Basecamp (a couple of years ago), there wasn't really a great place to have company info that was easily accessible. So for each client that we added, we would need to make sure that the note at the bottom of their main page was updated with relevant information, but that was rarely written in any standard way.

### "Gets the job done, depending on your use case"

January 6, 2020

4.0

Overall, this product gets the job done, but is limited in what you can do from a project management standpoint. There are more robust PM tools out there, but if you're a freelancer running some of your own projects or looking to keep a small team on target, I think basecamp would do well for you. We ended up outgrowing it, though. I do think there were pieces of functionality that we did not use as much as possible.

Pros

For clarity, we were using Basecamp 2, so we may have had limited visibility into certain functionality that came out later. I liked the UI of the product, and the clean experience makes things quick and easy. Sorting into various to-do lists within a project is easy. Task level threads were useful in staying on target. Templates are key for any project that gets recreated many times and can be easily managed from the template gallery. They can be managed just as you'd expect.

Cons

Resourcing and time tracking falls short in the version we were using. When adding many users to a given project, things can get visually ugly, even though in general the UI is nice. Dividing labor among internal and external resources works, but is a bit limited in what you can do. Adding external files rendered in a kind of a wonky way when posting within a project versus a task thread.

Reason for choosing Basecamp

I was not involved in the purchasing or evaluation of this tool.

### "Basecamp - Still a great option for project management and teamwork"

January 19, 2019

4.0

Basecamp is the great granddaddy of online project management/teamworking solutions (remember 37 Signals?) and was a real pioneer of the genre back in the day. Basecamp has evolved, of course, but it remains true to its roots of keeping things simple and having everything in one place. That's still the best way to use Basecamp - just keep everything project-related in Basecamp and work with it rather than trying to integrate multiple tools and try to bend it to your will. From a functionality point of view, Basecamp is still a contender when putting a project team together - and when you have more than a few users, there can be big cost savings as well.

Pros

\- One of the great features about Basecamp has always been ease of use. It is streamlined and simplified and most people - especially non-tech people - just get it right away. - Great way to include people outside the organisation in a team. No setting up on internal systems and worrying about compromising security. - Does the basics really well. - Fixed pricing means you aren't adding on extra subscriptions for new features and new users.

Cons

\- Some functionality overlaps with tools that are already available and that some users prefer to use. That means it can get messy if everyone isn't fully on board.

### "I have been using Basecamp for several years now. I continue to use ALL versions. "

June 14, 2018

3.0

Pros

One you get the hang of the differences between Classic, BC2 and BC3, it is pretty easy to be productive. They have changed the functionality over the years to make it more "team" friends by including features like chat and time tracking. Of the 3 versions, Classic has been the easiest one to learn. Making the jump form Classic to 2 or 3 is a much greater leap from 2 to 3. Basecamp 3 is more UI tweaks than anything else. Still happy with the product, and we can't run our business without it.

Cons

Not being able to move projects from Classic to BC3 is a problem. To do a full migration of my business will require several months of using ALL 3 versions until we can roll completely to BC3...of course, then there will probably be BC4.

### "A good solution to organize small teams."

August 7, 2018

4.0

Pros

The application has a very simple and user-friendly interface, and this auto-save feature has saved a lot of time for us. The customer service is extremely responsive to all our queries. There is this email notification for every update, but you can even filter this feature out according to your convenience. The to-do list is a very attractive feature, which enables the task to be broken down into subtasks. You can attach notes to them and we can see how much time and effort is required to accomplish each activity. You can use the application for a free trial of two months wherein you can use all the features that are available in the paid version, this is not available other project management tools. We just need a few minutes to set up the system and get started! They have provided an ample number of tutorials and demos thereby simplifying the process of giving one to one training for our team members.

Cons

The application has less scope for customization. It lacks in reporting features and we need a strong calendar with color coding for different projects. The application is not a very secure option if your project deals with sensitive information. It is not so great for huge teams or for development projects. The searchability feature needs improvement.

### "Like another member of my team"

April 28, 2020

5.0

I have used this product for years to keep myself organized personally and for work. It has always improved, but still stuck to its basic function of being the central location for everything I need access to.

Pros

I use Basecamp to manage my daily work. Very easy to create to-do lists, assign them to dates, manage and see all comments related to each item. Daily summary of activity is very helpful. Also, the ability to create simple, updateable documents has made Basecamp the ultimate replacement for a filing cabinet. I also love that I can print out my to-do list and take it with me if I need to.

Cons

I wish there was a way to further organize documents. However, labels allow you to do basically the same this. I just wish they had "folders" for when that would be really easy.

I like it for collaborating with colleagues I don't see every day.

Pros

I loved how easy it was to get started using and for team to pick up how to use. It works like a social media platform with many options for communications, reminders and file sharing. It's easy to stay organized. Great mobile options.

Cons

I don't have a con for the software itself, but would say it's only really useful if the whole team commits to using it the same way.

### "One stop for all the project related activities."

February 3, 2019

4.0

Overall basecamp is doing its job nicely for use which is managing projects activities and task management. It can have some more options like issue tracking, budget management and reimbursements request etc.

Pros

As a developer, I got assigned my job even before asking my senior regaring this with clearer details and the requirements. It saves you time as having meeting just for making developeres understand their tasks on daily basis is time consuming. Not only yours, yuo can see all of the team members status, their progresses on their task and plan yours accordngly.

Cons

I had a difficult time to customize my user interface like themes. Some options in base camps are somewhat hidden in the submenus rather they should be obvious. For any projects which are having a lot of files, there should be some hierarchical categorical grouping. For now, all files show up together with the latest one on the top and the oldest on the last.
