### "Gather around the fire, Basecamp is here!"

August 7, 2019

5.0

Basecamp felt fun to use and really made us feel that we were optimizing our workflows in terms of assigning tasks and work flows.

Pros

Basecamp's user interface has changed over the years and has become for easier for clients and client facing individuals. Basecamp became a part of a sales pitch in terms of giving access to clients to a platform where we were accessible and there to help them.

Cons

Basecamp has a lot of bells and whistles that are not immediately apparent. We did have to do a little digging under the hood in order to take advantage of some key features!

Reason for choosing Basecamp

Basecamp's friendly user interface and accessible onboarding features made it easier for users at my previous organization to adopt the platform. I would recommend this to any budding business who wants to manage workloads/workflows and keep their client engaged and excited about the service being provided!

Basecamp was an easier platform for us to engage clients and keep everyone on the same page! Trello felt a little outdated in terms of having swim lanes for each task.

### "Intuitive, easy to use tool for task management. "

January 17, 2018

4.0

Pros

Basecamp is simplistic in the sense that even a new user will quickly find their way around. They have an intuitive user experience that is one of the better setups in task management/project management tools. You'll appreciate the ease of assigning tasks with due dates to individuals. Copying task lists and creating templates is another regularly used (and much appreciated) feature. Customer service is top notch and always quick to respond.

Cons

For those who are more visual learners/doers, the list format may seem drab. Other tools like Team Work offer boards for organizing task as well as lists. You won't have the ability to view multiple lists side by side in Basecamp - only linear lists.

### "The lifeblood of our team's project management"

November 26, 2019

5.0

Basecamp is the home base for all of our projects. It's the easiest way to get feedback from relevant stakeholders all in one place. I can't imagine a world where as a graphic designer, I'm receiving email feedback from marketing, engineering, growth, etc and having to somehow act on all those tasks without a repository for it all. It also keeps us honest on deadlines.

Pros

Basecamp is truly our home base for all things project management. Our project coordinator is the master of entering in all projects, sub-tasks and deadlines (an unenviable task) but it truly is the only way, as a senior designer, to keep a handle on a dozen or more ongoing simultaneous projects. We use it also to get approval on designs by just keeping a long thread going within a project and tagging relevant team leaders. Also love the Tracked plugin for kanban viewing.

Cons

I think the notifications were a bit much. Most mornings I have to sift through several dozen email notices, some for very small things like title change adjustments that our project coordinator had done in the evening hours. The only notifications I really need are someone commenting within a project of mine and someone tagging me.

Reason for choosing Basecamp

I think it came down to pricing but I wasn't the money-based decision maker around that.

### "Laser-focused on collaboration and communication"

September 29, 2020

4.0

This software excels at what it claims to do, but don't expect anything else.

Pros

Basecamp does not claim to be a package that will do everything you might ever need. It's stated mission is to do enable collaboration for remote teams. That's it. It is not a project management tool with complex Gantt charts and confusing schedules. This is software that gives visibility and accessibility to the important aspects of working with a small group.

Cons

This is not recommended for large complex groups of people. If you have a complicated org-chart with convoluted reporting, you might want to look into an Atlassian product. Also, for software developers this tool did not have built in support for various development methodologies. If you're looking for sprint management, story scoring and other agile-specific tools, keep looking.

### "Basecamp Helps My Business Get More Done"

February 18, 2019

5.0

Basecamp is an essential project management tool, especially for a digital company. It's easy to use and gives a great structure to finishing important tasks to help my business succeed. We couldn't do business without it!

Pros

Basecamp is one of the best ways to organize a team's tasks. Without Basecamp, my team would not be able to keep up with all the work that needs to be done throughout the week. It's also a great way to communicate and even sends emails to the person assigned the task. This really helps everyone stay on task and get more done!

Cons

While a user can see all their assigned tasks, it would be a good feature to have a user be able to see all assigned tasks for just one project and not every project the user is currently a part of.

### "Great for task management "

September 10, 2020

3.0

Overall, it's fine, especially for the price. It's not a very robust in terms of bells and whistles, no master calendaring or gantt charts. As our marketing team has grown and our projects get more complex, we're finding that it's not the best solution for our marketing department's needs.

Pros

I've used both the Basecamp 2 and the newer Basecamp 3 versions. It's a good tool for keeping track of to-do's and assigning dates and responsibilities to team members. We also use it with one of our agencies, which is nice so have that option to collaborate with people outside our org.

Cons

Honestly I liked the older version of Basecamp better because the calendaring functionality was more intuitive. In Basecamp 3, you can only get a calendar view in each project, you can't get a cumulative view of everything on a single calendar. That's a big disadvantage for our marketing team.

Reason for choosing Basecamp

We started using basecamp on this team because new hires in Marketing leadership had used it in the past and found it to be suitable for the small team we had. We've simply outgrown it and are starting to look for a new/better solution.

### "So Easy and Helpful"

March 16, 2020

5.0

I've used this when working with third-party marketing firms to project manage with two different companies I've been with. Glad to use it.

Pros

The software is so easy to use, I hardly needed any training. I feel way more organized and can answer any project status questions at a glance.

Cons

I don't use the calendar much or timelines. Maybe they would be helpful if I did, but it feels like a little more trouble than just using the due dates and my regular work calendar.

Reason for choosing Basecamp

Coworker recommended it, and the agency was already using it.

I've used Basecamp at two different jobs. Both in education. Really appreciate the accessibility and cross-platform functionality. Basecamp is very intuitive.

Pros

I like that it is accessible on any platform so that you can stay on task.

Not as integrated with Microsoft Teams vs. using Teams natively for project management.

### "Right Choice for Project Management"

May 26, 2020

5.0

Basecamp was introduced to us by our head office and TBH it was really hard to move our teams to manual project management which includes emails and google drive sheets. But once we moved then I was a relief to every team. I recommend this tool to all Digital Marketing Agencies or any other company which is dealing with project management problems.

Pros

We use Basecamp to manage our projects in Digital Marketing Agency where we had 500+ projects. This tool made working very easy and smooth for all teams. My most favourite thing about this tool is creating custom templates. We created 4-5 different templates and whenever a new project added to our system its was easy for us to add in basecamp because each and every task was already in the template and automatically assigned to relevant teams.

Cons

I don't see anything negative about their software so I would say our experience was great and there is nothing to mention in cons.

### "Basecamp changed our way of communicating "

November 16, 2020

5.0

Overall, we’ve used it for 3+ years and we don’t plan on changing it. So overall it’s been a great tool in our company!

Pros

We use basecamp as a communication platform and a place where our staff can access all the material that will make them successful. Does email work? Yes. But so does a hammer and a nail. Why build a house with a hammer and a nail when you can use a nail gun?

Cons

I don’t like that everyone has the ability to delete or change things. I think there should be security settings. I also would like to hear back from customer support more.

5.0

Pros

If you need something to manage through chaos of projects, files, then Basecamp is a superb tool to help reduce time in finding the right info to keep track and progress of projects in one place.

Cons

Sometimes the over simple features can make customization difficult and there is little flexibility in terms of the features you want. It either take it or leave it and no middle ground.

### "Basecamp is a solid option for remote collaboration"

December 16, 2021

4.0

Pros

Basecamp is a great option for teams of 3 or more who rely on centralized, time-sensitive communication to keep projects moving forward. It's easy to set up and integrate with other software, which is a huge plus for larger teams and projects. It also offers a flat fee of $99/month for unlimited users and nonprofits can access a 10% discount.

Cons

UX-wise, Basecamp can feel overwhelming to the eye. While the basic features are easy to understand and set up, there's definitely a learning curve to understanding the full extent of what Basecamp can do. Reporting is available, but it's quite limited at this time.

### "Good Project Management Platform"

November 10, 2017

3.0

Helps keep the team organized and holds people accountable for their piece of the project. The online collaboration is invaluable, plus the remote access is a must for virtual teams.

Pros

It's a great tool for communicating and sharing data with your team, especially if you are a small business with remote employees. It also allows you to store, edit and share documents and allows team members to know what is happening with other parts of the project and eliminates the possibility of data loss due to system failure.

Cons

Needs much better integration with calendaring options and the initial setup can be a little cumbersome. Also, it's hard to follow the conversation threads when there are a lot of people (10+) working on a project.

### "Basecamp Offers Multi-tiered Functionality for Varying Levels of Organizational Needs"

February 12, 2018

4.0

Simple, streamlined organization that was easy to share across multiple teams.

Pros

I like that it's platform is simple and user-friendly. It doesn't take too wide a learning curve to get into the swings of how it all works and where everything goes. As a result, it saves both project managers and those new to teams infinite amounts of time in being able to just dive right into usage rather than clunk around in the platform finding their way around.

Cons

While simple, I think the main interface for regular users is a bit much. It's cluttered in that everything lives primarily in the same place "visually, " and it can, therefore, be difficult to prioritize importance of items in viewing range at first glance

### "Best software for keeping several things organized."

November 30, 2018

5.0

If I talk about overall experience, I would say it has enhanced the efficiency in order to have perfect coordination of processes. I would recommend this tool to large team as it has ability to manage several projects at the same time.

Pros

BaseCamp always seems to be successful for managing projects. Ease of use is its appreciable feature. This is the software that provides excellent coordination regarding project management by helping us in designing work schedules according to our requirements as well as particular tasks and many more. BaseCamp lets every individual employee to find the documents immediately. It is an easier way to communicate with the team mates and provides all possible solutions related to project management.

Cons

BaseCamp is although user friendly but one of the negative sides is that it not easy to use. In order to have complete command on it, one has to take training so that enabling him to manage projects perfectly without hindrance. It is quite expensive. Sometimes people have to face the problems with calendar but it is a minor issue that can be resolved because its team is very supportive.

### "Basecamp: easy for anyone - MOST visual PM tool"

October 12, 2020

4.0

Great experience, everyone on the team (internal or external) can use Basecamp, technical or not. It's such an easy to to deploy and use, and can't beat the cost!

Pros

Basecamp is the MOST visual project management tool I've used, both in viewing documents in-line (right in the tool as a preview) along with viewing images/screenshots, project calendars & more. It makes the whole PM process easier to process and manage by having those visuals. The collaboration tools are fantastic as well.

Cons

My only beef with Basecamp is the lack of doing advanced project planning like Ghant charts. The calendaring features are pretty basic and not as advanced.

### "Project management made easy!"

February 9, 2019

4.0

Overall experience is really positive. An efficiently managed basecamp page for a project can actually help in managing the project lifecycle much better and can smoothen the project delivery from the development team to the clients.

Pros

The essential project details and files can be maintained well in this software and any client communication can be logged in different threads/discussions on Basecamp which can later be used for reference in the project lifecycle. The project managers, project owners and team members can refer over the threads/discussions and find essential details very easily on Basecamp.

Cons

Sometimes it gets tricky to find a particular discussion later on, which can be enhanced with increased use of tagging/metadata.

### "The Most Client Friendly Project Management Software"

March 26, 2019

5.0

I am still using it after 8 years and will continue to be a premium member. No complaints. It's one of my most important client management tools.

Pros

When working with businesses globally, and remote teams, Basecamp is a life saver. While there are a myriad of other project management software types out there, this has been the resource my clients adopt most quickly. It's practical, easy to follow, and reduces 'chasing emails' to keep everything organized.

Cons

I would like to see a calendar integration with Google Calendar, to be able to schedule meetings through Basecamp. Also an integration for a folder for Google Doc / Sheet links would be a great addition to the software, for busy teams and time management.

### "Keeping organized with Basecamp"

November 29, 2016

4.0

As a freelancer, I handle a large number of clients with ongoing projects and quick support requests a constant. Using email to manage these requests and the back-and-forth discussions on projects became cumbersome, so I switched to Basecamp. I currently use Basecamp 2, and the payment structure and number of projects fits my business perfectly. I can have an individual Basecamp project for each ongoing client project, and a single one for my business' administrative tasks with to-do lists for the clients that don't need a separate BC project. It keeps me organized with my subcontractors and helps me stay on task.

Pros

Reasonable cost and great feature set, including the to-do lists that allow you to assign them and email when due, and the calendar integration with Google calendar that let's me see upcoming actions in one spot. The integration offered through Zapier is also excellent for automating tasks.

Cons

Sometimes my clients have some difficulty understanding how the software works and how they're supposed to use it. I'd also love to see some of the really cool features that Basecamp is releasing, but those are only for BC3 and I don't really need to upgrade.

### "Basecamp doubled our producivity"

April 2, 2018

4.0

It doubled our productivity and reduced our cost by one third. Very efficient when working with our clients and highly recommended specially for startups.

Pros

From the original basecamp to basecamp 3, it is undoubtedly the best project management tool ever developed. We used it together with our clients because it is easy to communicate with project milestones. And clients don't even have to use it, they just send an email and that's it.

Cons

Probably, the clutter. Too many tings happening in one go. Though it can be a good thing, because they are trying to be jack of all trades. But when you only need a specific thing to do, say adding a project, there can be a learning curve because of the things that's happening.

### "Basecamp allows communication with my team"

April 28, 2020

5.0

BaseCamp permits us to be prepared to team up on one anticipate with various individuals being included. At that point, once we return to the workplace, we will pull up that one anticipates. It makes collaboration really basic when we can't be as one. Phenomenal for all organizations in light of the fact that the title says, it makes the entirety of your assignments simple to attempt to.

Pros

Basecamp has made cooperation a tremendous achievement when it includes venture building. What I incline toward most about this product is that I can team up with the rest of my stuff any place I'm on one archive that we as a whole can access at BaseCamp.

Cons

Intermittently it is regularly moderate or glitchy relying on the hour of the day. With time they get the entirety of the bugs made sense of. One thing that I lean toward least about the product is that I can't arrange a to-do as a repetitive attempt to inside a Basecamp venture.
