### "Basecamp review "

October 30, 2022

5.0

Basecamp is exceptionally good platform to stay connected with your team members. For any level of communication, you are well updated. Projects, assignments and content related updates.

Pros

Instant messaging and best app for communicating with team members. It helps to manage different projects in same place. All the assignments are tracked and important announcements both internal and external.

Cons

Too many notifications from the same post even if you have unsubscribed from it.

### "I work at a marketing agency that using Basecamp as our primary task management tool."

November 17, 2017

4.0

Pros

I like that the tool allows you to organize by person or by project. Multi-day spanning projects are also handing when scheduling out larger projects. I like that I can easily shift milestones from one person to another.

Cons

There are some glitches. For example, if you navigate directly to your calendar, often times you will have to first navigate to a different calendar and then back to your own to get milestone to show up. In addition, it can be frustrating that we can't 'restrict' weekends. It makes moving out entire projects difficult, as they will inevitably end up on a weekend. Lastly, I'd love to be able to pull up multiple calendars at once to assess capacity and reassign appropriately.

### "Simple and light project management platform"

October 10, 2017

5.0

All our client projects are managed through this. This means that communication and task management becomes really easy and overheads on managing the client accounts are minimal. Most our clients also find the Basecamp easy to use and set up.

Pros

The ability to create and manage projects in an uncomplicated way. There are project templates which allow you to create new projects based on specific processes. Communication is really simple and I like how you can either create new topics or use tasks as topics to update the clients on the status of the task

Cons

Out-of-office status is a missing feature. This means that clients would raise questions without knowing that you are not there to answer them. There is also a limitation on the ToDo list: when all tasks in the ToDo list are complete, the list itself disappears. This is not always desirable because the ToDo list is often used as a container for new tasks, which are not yet added to the list.

### "Basecamp is a great base for businesses"

January 8, 2019

5.0

I would highly recommend this site for entrepreneurs and freelancers, as well as businesses that hire freelancers. It's a great way to connect with your team and to keep track of the work that is coming and going.

Pros

I've used Basecamp with a couple of clients that I worked for as a freelance writer. I liked that it made it easy for them to give me assigments, as well as offering a "camp" where you could easily work with higher-ups and other writers.

Cons

The experience I had with Basecamp was great. I have no complaints.

### "Great for beginning project management"

February 9, 2021

5.0

It was a great experience, and the product definitely helped us grow into more complex project management.

Pros

It was an incredibly easy product to use, and had great functionality. We loved the software and the interaction with the product.

Cons

You could not do complex project management with it, and some features only let you drill down so far.

### "We use this daily for our client communications, and it's great! Cover yourself and keep up!"

February 6, 2018

5.0

Pros

I love the "boards" style functionality. It makes working with a large multitude of clients a lot easier and gives each client their own "portal" to keep track of their project. Asset management is also a breeze!

Cons

Lacks time logging capabilities, which I understand aren't necessarily the role this is meant to fill.

### "Amazing software by an amazing company"

May 31, 2020

5.0

I have been using Basecamp for 5 years. Since then productivity and clarity improved dramatically. The support has been always nice and helpful. I can't recommend it enough.

Pros

I like to support independent and ethical companies, even more when they are able to develop the best software on the market. Basecamp is powerful, while maintaining its ease of use.

Cons

I couldn't find anything negative in my personal experience. Maybe the pricing structure, while clear and simple, could be penalizing for small teams, but it is something I am not sure about.

### "Great project management tool"

September 28, 2018

5.0

Project management is the business problem we're solving. We have a team of 9 in the PH and 5 located in San Diego, and it's the easiest way to communicate our product/marketing management tasks that need to get accomplished.

Pros

I like how you can assign out tickets and easily see how far along a project is completed

Cons

I don't like that there's still not a way to assign out reoccuring tickets (yes, I know there was an update about 2 weeks ago for reoccuring events - but that is not the same as tickets). For example, we use tickets and projects to create monthly giveaways and monthly promotions (this includes email, landing pages, ads, graphics, copy, etc.) that should be assigned out each month - i would love to be able to duplicate the overall project and then just update the content in the overall ticket to streamline creating this. I assign out tickets every quarter and it takes me two whole days to do this because im mostly copying and pasting - it would be SO nice to have a way to duplicate/copy projects.

### "Free Version Used and Worked"

September 12, 2018

4.0

Overall, Basecamp is a great project management tool for those that need a tool to collect and house bits and pieces of a project that is being worked on collectively. The ability to attach documents and images is very useful. Additionally, having the ability to take notes and check items off as they are completed is hands down the best feature of the program.

Pros

It's a great way to gather your team's content so everyone can view/use it collaboratively in one area. There is no going back and forth from emails to desktop looking for pieces of the project. The ability to categorize projects and segments of projects is highly useful. Easy to use!

Cons

There's a lot going on visually. A bit distracting. There is no way to track time of a project which could be very useful. You're email inbox is constantly ringing every time someone changes/updates/adds content if you don't change the settings. This can be avoided once you go into settings but annoying nonetheless.

### "Decent Project Management"

December 14, 2020

3.0

Our experience has been OK, as has our customers. However, I wish they would add some features that many users have been requesting.

Pros

Easy to use and implement. Learning curve is minimal.

Cons

They are slow to implement new features, and not very receptive to user feedback. Basecamp lags behind some of it's competitors in regards to features.

### "Basecamp is the bomb"

November 27, 2018

5.0

I really enjoy working with basecamp. It is very easy to use and set up. Comparable to asana.

Pros

I really love the native ability to assign tasks, chat about work, track client questions and create both client facing and internal discussions. With each new project you open you can assign the team and their roles -- better yet you can assign a do to list. Which as a creative is an amazing way to track client and internal revisions to the various projects you are working on. The email updates make it super easy to respond right from your mail agent.

Cons

The only thing I wish is that it was more of a desk top app like Slack. Where I can keep it in my dock and have notifications come directly do my desktop versus emails.

### "Basecamp Review"

December 6, 2018

5.0

Our team used Basecamp as Project Management software even though it's not made just for that. While that wasn't the original intent of the software, Basecamp is very flexible and served that purpose for our team.

Pros

Basecamp is very easy to use! The software is extremely intuitive.

Cons

I wasn't thrilled about the look and feel of the software, i.e. colors and logos.

### "Stay Organized!"

February 11, 2019

5.0

Basecamp is great for organizing jobs and keeping historical job data!!

Pros

Able to organize almost every aspect of your job. It's not Microsoft Project where you can plot a job out and submit to project engineers but for jobs that don't require that dept this is your go to!

Cons

No cons at the moment, everything in here is pretty solid!

### "A good project management tool to connect clients with vendors"

January 18, 2018

4.0

Organization and improved communication; a place to call "home base" (or "Base camp", I guess!).

Pros

The ability to hold discussions, as well as make tasks for individual users. Basecamp is an excellent option for companies looking for software to serve as a "home base" during an implementation project. We currently use it to communicate internally, as well as externally with a number of vendors for a variety of projects. The email notifications are nice, the interface is easy to use, and it is simply a solid experience, for the most part.

Cons

I would love to see some improved functionality, such as the ability to include images in-line within a message, rather than append them as attachments to the end. I find that our company at least communicates very visually, so being able to paste an image immediately after a specific part of a message would be a huge benefit.

### "Helps teams to get off email and Slack"

May 1, 2019

4.0

Pros

It seems more like a digital space for work than just a project management tool. I do think the pricing for Basecamp is much more affordable. I love receiving notifications about next steps without it cluttering up my inbox. Helps to coordinate processes. Having people be visible in your work motivates people to be timely.

Cons

Better pricing than some of the other tools. I probably don't need the group chat feature because my team uses Slack. This definitely is not as intuitive as some of the other tools that I have used. You have to rely on other team members being engaged.

### "Lot of Money to accomplish little"

November 13, 2018

3.0

Pros

It's an easy way for leaders to track what employees are doing. As long as employees take the time to record what they are doing on the site.

Cons

You are adding extra work, tracking work, to employees time, so that bosses can keep track. Simple good communication skills could replace this and for much less money.

### "Love coordinating projects on Basecamp"

June 28, 2018

5.0

Easy creation of shared task lists, fast chatting with team.

Pros

I love the chat feature. I use it nearly everyday with our team. Also we use it for standard task lists. The online app is great too. I use both the app and on my laptop.

Cons

I really can't think of any, but since I HAVE to, I'll go with ease of use. In some ways it's SUPER easy, but it's a little clunky to have standard lists and reuse them over and over. Not sure how I would improve it though. I'm very happy overall.

### "Perfect for Teams and Projects"

August 28, 2018

4.0

Pros

I love how organized Basecamp helps our team be! You can have a project for everything and within the project have each step outlined for each team member!

Cons

You need to know how your want your proejcts managed then build that system in Basecamp. Basecamp doesn't have a "best practice" already outlined for you.
