### "Basecamp is truly the way to go!"

June 21, 2019

5.0

Pros

Me and my team have been using Basecamp for quite some time now and it's been great for organizing and augmenting our productivity. It's a neat and user-friendly software that allows team members to interconnect very efficiently, without the hassle of having to hunt down lost emails, tasks and such. It's wonderful to have a hub for everything that includes emails, schedules, a to-do box, etc. It also includes a great strategic option of "checking in" not found in most sibling software to my knowledge. It truly has organizing and increasing my companies productivity tenfold.

Cons

What I feel Basecamp lacks is a better chat option between team members linked to the account. What's offered is a message board, which is very helpful, but it may feel time consuming to read through it and find information that's a necessity for you at the moment.

### "Easy to Use, Robust, Turnkey Productivity Solution"

March 14, 2017

5.0

I've been a BaseCamp user for 8 years. The platform has consistently provided value for our creative team. I like BaseCamp because it it is lightweight and flexible enough to provide basic project mangagement without the overhead of many solutions that require you to spend almost as much time managing the solution as tending to projects. The mobile platform is intuitive and makes managing on the go easy.

Pros

The cloud-based platform makes it so that I can interface with BaseCamp wherever I find myself: mobile, web, desktop.

Cons

As a long-time user, I obviously remain very satisfied with BaseCamp and their user responsiveness as they have grown. For my needs, there is not much BaseCamp does not do. If you are looking for something on the order of Microsoft Project, BaseCamp is not for you. But if you are looking for an effective online platform for project management without the weight of all that goes into precise project time metrics, BaseCamp is at the right scale for you.

I'm using the free version of the software but but it's worth it's money for the paid version.

Pros

Basecamp keeps all your documentation and communication for every project at 1 please. Easy communication and cooperation with coworkers and teammates.

Cons

Great toes and perfect features but the price is a little expensive for small companies and startups.

### "Easy Project Management "

October 13, 2020

3.0

User friendly and super functional.

Pros

Basecamp is a simple, central place to store and review projects. I receive tasks through the platform, upload drafts for comments and review, and get edits approved. I can easily access archived projects. I can even track my time.

Cons

Could use a makeover ... the look is a bit dated.

### "Huge help for managing projects"

September 5, 2018

5.0

We wanted better communication and better tracking of small projects and even daily tasks. I compiled my team's weekly tasks into Basecamp so we can track week to week everything we're doing. We also of course use it for managing some projects. Is it as feature rich and granular as a Microsoft Project? No, but it isn't trying to be. It's done exactly what we had hoped for.

Pros

Very easy to use, especially for small projects that don't necessitate a massive project management software. Great communication components. The ability to move and copy tasks from one project to another easily is very helpful. Easy user management.

Cons

Sends a lot of emails before you adjust settings. Some users aren't as savvy about these changes and got frustrated early on and started ignoring emails. When I create a new to-do list, it automatically takes me into the list when usually, I just want to create a handful of lists first. Maybe a setting I'm missing? I really like Basecamp and I'm having a hard time coming up with true cons. Great product for the price.

### "Basecamp has been a huge factor in increasing cross-department communication within our organization"

September 5, 2017

4.0

Some of the benefits I receive from this software include streamlining project management, increasing cross-department internal communication channels and allowing for a "one-stop shop" tool that can manage lists, projects and calendars all in one place.

Pros

Some of the aspects of the software that I like the most include the ability to easily share with other people in the organization, the ability of other to be able to edit the same calendar and being able to create project specific calendars and timelines. It really increases the project management element between our departments and allows all involved parties to see where we are/should be in a specific project. It has also increased our transparency internally and has helped to create accountability for what is going on within certain areas of our organization.

Cons

When you have tasks that are repeating, you have to enter each one individually. You can expand things over various days but when it comes to a reoccurring event, it is difficult to change certain aspects of this. The user-experience could be a bit better in this regard.

### "Keeps me on task and not behind"

May 12, 2020

5.0

Basecamp has helped stay on task and not get behind in projects in addition to keeping others informed of what I’m working on and what I need from them.

Pros

I like that assignments can be layered into teams and projects making it easy to know who’s responsible for what and how it’s connected to other items.

Cons

Uploading files, even the smallest ones seems to be really slow in my experience. I wish there was better integration with platforms like Dropbox rather than just sharing links with no preview.

### "Great Software for Small Business"

June 17, 2019

4.0

Positive experience. Just grew out of it. Not recomended for large teams.

Pros

I have used this software on the agency side, on the internal team side and for small, medium and large businesses. It is best used for small to medium sized businesses and I would say best for agencies. I love the personal touches it gives for sending out automatic emails asking for feedback or "what books have you been reading" and I like that on the agency side you can create a different project management dashboard for each client.

Cons

In my current company, we eventually outgrew basecamp. Our teams and projects are just too robust. The search feature leaves a lot to be desired in BC3 and should be upgraded to elastic search.

### "Definitely helps get the job done efficiently."

November 4, 2015

4.0

I've been using Basecamp at work to manage client projects for over a year now. It's easy to use and I like how clean it is. We set up to do lists, projects, etc. and are able to share tasks with the client while also creating lists just for us to use internally. I can upload documents to share or easily link to something in Google docs/sheets/slides.

Pros

Discussions are great - we even use them a little bit as an internal community/discussion board for some of our monthly meetings to keep the conversations going. Being able to assign tasks in the to-do lists is great and the interface is easy to use (selecting a date, assigning a person to the task, etc.)

Cons

I feel like it's not always the most intuitive. I sometimes find myself hunting for features or forgetting where things are. There's also no real timeline of progress or tasks completed area to make you feel like you're making progress along the way toward your goal.

### "Makes communication so easy"

December 11, 2020

5.0

So far it has been my favorite platform for project communications. I really recommend it for everyone!

Pros

I have been using Basecamp for a long time. It is so far one of my favorite communication platform when it comes to working with a team. I have been using it for all my big school project that requires collaboration. It is so simple to use it as if you are texting from your phone. The mobile app is so nice and friendly and allows me to get immediate notification and summary at the end of each week,

Cons

There is nothing really that i don't like with Basecamp.

### "Basecamp is great for startups"

October 26, 2018

4.0

Basecamp allowed our company to grow and move forward with well-organized client communication in our early stages.

Pros

Basecamp allows you to message clients and keep conversations and shared files all in one place. It is a very affordable option for companies just starting out or for companies who just need a simple file sharing/project management software.

Cons

While it is a great option when you're starting out, you don't have much flexibility in terms of integrations or customizations.

### "Good for small teams, confusing for big projects"

January 29, 2019

3.0

I think Basecamp has a lot of room for improvement. It should allow for a more synchronous interface so that collaboration can be fast and fluid, and it should improve the organization of smaller teams within a larger project without the need to create multiple instances. Overall, it feels like a forum/bulletin board with some file sharing/search features.

Pros

Basecamp allows team managers to create several different 'basecamp channels' to organize large teams in smaller groups, which I found useful. It is also easy to search and retrieve conversations, files and documents shared by the team. The search feature works really well

Cons

I used basecamp for a large project (~80 people) and didn't like the way that the main channel, with everyone, was organized. The native mac app is also not great and I found myself following threads on email rather than on basecamp, cluttering my mailbox.

### "Best Project Management Software"

March 30, 2019

5.0

Basecamp is a great tool for getting the entire team on the same page and managing projects in a consistent manner. Great for time management and project tracking.

Pros

The ability to create a collaborative project management space with tasks and to-dos for each member of the team.

Cons

User interface is a little outdated but this is a minor set back.

### "it's a decent app for my team to work in a freeform environment where collaboration is easy"

November 17, 2017

5.0

Pros

It gives teams a more effective way to work together than over email. I can discuss and manage projects, events, or other work without having to actually get physically together. I upload files that I want to share, keep track of tasks that need to get done, and more.

Cons

It suffers from some design issues, however, that make it a less productive space than it could be. Also when looking to institute more structure, a workflow management app is a better option

### "Good Project Management Tool"

September 18, 2019

4.0

Good experience overall; it was a quick way for us to track project status and assignments.

Pros

This tooled helped the team identify what projects need to be done, when they need to be done, and by who.

Cons

I wish there were expanded options for templated types of projects, so that when one task is set up it triggers others to follow.

### "The overall experience is good, I just wish there were a few more features to make things easier."

June 5, 2018

4.0

It's much easier to keep up with the projects and the completed/need to be completed tasks than shuffling through email to find information.

Pros

The way tasks are tracked from start to completion. If a person changes who's assigned, changes a due date, or does complete the task, Basecamp keeps a full log.

Cons

I'm not allowed to add sub tasks to tasks or multiple people to one task. There are many tasks I assign my employees that have multiple steps or need more than one specialist doing them.

### "We use Basecamp for management of all projects in the agency."

July 13, 2018

5.0

Easy project management, better communication and a single place to store all elements for a project.

Pros

The intuitive interface, the project features, templates and ability to add both internal and external users to the project.

Cons

Not a fan of the calendar and wish there was a way to have it work with our agency calendar on Google.

### "Decent organizational system with a reasonable cost that is a bit folksy in it's interface..."

March 26, 2020

4.0

Version Reviewed: BaseCamp3. It was a good solution for sharing documents and notifying users of uploads. The apps were useful. My client was hoping for broader sharing within an arts & cultural district and multiple organizations that did not pan out. There are other tools in the system that I did not explore that may be worthy of consideration. All in all, I think a project management solution rather than a team working platform provides better answers if the project management solution can be kept simple while taking advantage of the sharing, planning, communication, and calendaring features.

Pros

Version reviewed: BaseCamp 3. Great to be able to share documents with other users in the organization. I provided bookkeeping and reporting services and would upload the documents for review by the Exec Director, Board Chair, and Treasurer. Basecamp app for iOS worked fine, too. Did not try the Android version.

Cons

Version reviewed: BaseCamp 3. The filing system for documents is kind of like handling paper in a virtual environment. Drag and drop is a plus. The ability to backup the entire set of documents for disaster recovery was a plus, too. It would have been much easier to manage documents with a tree structure as in Windows, Apple, Dropbox, or Google office.

### "Useful for project management"

July 1, 2018

Useful for project management

Pros

This software have a lot of tools very useful for team works in projects, offers a lot of ways for interactions for team members and increase productivity.

Cons

One of the most representative disadvantages of this software is that have just an online access when you want to work with it.

### "I use Basecamp every day at work"

July 27, 2018

Pros

I am a proofreader, and I am given digital ads to proofread. Basecamp pings me when I have work to do, and this helps me keep track of everything I need to do at work.

Cons

It can sometimes be a little confusing when you have multiple items in the same project to make sure that you have reviewed everything.

### "Basecamp works for our team!"

December 14, 2018

5.0

We use basecamp daily to manage our work load. It is simple to use and helps keep us organized. The daily updates at the end of each day are a great reminder for the team to check in and let us know what they've been up to.

Pros

We like using basecamp to track activities and work being done. It's great for separating out projects and tracking daily work. Also love the message board to communicate any questions and ideas with the team.

Cons

The editing features. We have an administrative assistant that can only make certain edits under our head account, I would love to be able to assign them their own account and have them make edits etc the same as the head account.

### "Really ideal for any project and any size of team management"

October 24, 2020

5.0

Pros

Basecamp is like an online replacement of the physical office environment. The project team can communicate with each other, share the progress and get feedback, follow the general progress, chat each other... This definitely gives the feeling of being really conected with the team in real time and make sure that you are in line with the direction of the general progress.

Cons

There is only one pricing plan which is currently $99/month. There needs to be number of plans as well as yearly and monthly plan categories to fit any type of team, company of any size and budget.

### "Works for a lot, but not all "

February 9, 2021

4.0

Overall, it was a positive experience, when leveraged with the correct team

Pros

I like Basecamp's overall style and ability for simple customization. As compared to some tools, the options are robust but not overwhelming when it comes to setting up your views and managing your notifications - I like this. I found Basecamp super useful managing a creative process workflow

Cons

Basecamp fell down a bit for me when it came to managing a more complicated software type of project. It lacked the tracking at the level of granularity I needed and the UI was not as appealing to my technical resources
