### "Basecamp"

November 13, 2018

5.0

Pros

I think it has some nice features and gives you the basic functionality that is needed to manage a product.

Cons

The major drawback I've encountered with Customers is that they tend to want to quickly create a new thread for discussion as opposed to adding the discussion that's taking place on a to do item. I think if there was an option in basecamp to have multiple threads pertaining to one to do item, it would make it easier to manage the conversations.

Pros

I'm not sure where to start. This software makes it possible for me to run my business. If I didn't have this I would be losing track of projects left and right!

Cons

Zero Cons Except the fact that I wish i had found this sooner than I did. Seriously, these guys did a great job!

### "A useful, intuitive application for work tasks."

November 7, 2017

4.0

Organized daily, weekly and monthly tasks for my team. Imposed deadlines and documentation rules within the application for posterity.

Pros

Intuitive interface with straightforward actions. Allows managers to assign tasks to individual users or whole teams with deadlines. The due dates are accompanied by useful notifications.

Cons

Hard to automate multiple tasks at once, adding many to-do's for one person isn't as seamless as it could be. Navigation as a whole can use a little bit of work.

### "Finally Get Rid of Email and Do More as a team "

January 5, 2020

5.0

Like most organizations, we were primarily communicating via email. Email proved to be a poor way for team communication, collaboration and Basecamp helped to fix everything. We have multiple projects and use it for hiring practices, projects, events and personaly as well.

Pros

I love how easy it is for me and my team to use. There isn't a steep learning curve and has enabled us to get more done at a higher level.

Cons

I love Basecamp. I do wish that it was a little less expensive. I think we are currently paying around $900 for it.

### "Flexible and Convinient Project Management Application"

October 16, 2018

4.0

I like basecamp because it helps me manage small personal projects I work with others like web design. Generally, basecamp helps us work faster.

Pros

Basecamp is an easy-to-use and flexible project management tool. It gives you a lot of options with regards to managing your project. You can upload files directly into an a project on the application. Another cool feature is the option called 'Catch up' button which when you click, shows you a summary of the activities that have happened on that project in a day. This keeps everyone updated on what's going on in a project. I like that Basecamp is has a calendar view that you can use to list all your to-do activities for the coming days and weeks. I also like the progress tab that helps you gauge how much has been done in lets say a week or a month.

Cons

Basecamp is a general project management tool. It might be challenging to customize it to a specific industry needs. Basecamp may not work for very specific industry projects.

### "Brings everyone together and up-to-speed"

July 3, 2019

5.0

I love how basecamp creates an environment for building and collaboration. There are multiple layers for project details and feedback. I love how there is a campfire for multiple project heads to communicate and kind of give a pow wow breakdown of overall production.

Pros

Basecamp is great to bring the whole team together and collaborate. It's easy for people to do their own thing and kind of go rogue. Basecamp helps create accountability and keep projects in check.

Cons

Not much bad to say about Basecamp, but if I had to make a con list it would be that the interface is not as aesthetically pleasing as the alternatives out there and there is no time-tracking on projects.

### "Get Basecamp to help you organize your company or your personal projects"

November 11, 2021

5.0

Pros

It's great that there is a free tier for personal projects. Basecamp is an outstanding piece of software.

Cons

it can take a little effort to ramp up and learn to use it. Instructions and hints on the site/tool itself are very helpful.

### "Basecamp - A great tool for internal firm communication"

August 31, 2022

5.0

Overall, Basecamp is a powerful tool for daily communication among team members.

Pros

This software is an intuitive way to manage tasks and collaborate with co-workers on projects.

Cons

The mobile app is hard to use/navigate. It is better on a desktop.

### "Basecamp is an easy to use project management tool"

December 18, 2018

5.0

It does what it does well, but it could use a few extra features to make it more powerful.

Pros

It is very easy to use and you can collaborate with an internal team or external clients

Cons

It is a bit pricey for smaller companies who do not need as many projects, and it's not as flexible in terms of pricing options as I may like

### "Organized our Board of Directors"

September 22, 2020

5.0

It has helped us get our Board of Directors organized. Allowed us to simply get information out to them ahead of meetings, making meetings flow faster and discussions smoother because they feel well informed ahead of time.

Pros

It is simple to follow and you are able to use it on any device. As we have a non profit Board of Directors and they all use a different kind of technology it was important each of them was able to to utilize the program no matter what type of device they were using.

Cons

I wish somehow I could cross reference teams. One individual on Team A needs to know about something Team B is doing, I wish I could "copy" them in on the conversation so they were aware. Instead I have to repost on the other Team's dashboard.

### "great for a low volume of large projects"

September 10, 2020

4.0

it's a good program with a lot of power, but best suited to large project with files you'd like to attach.

Pros

You can store everything related to a project as well as all the task management in one place. It's easy to invite other people to the projects.

Cons

As a task manager it's not very easy to add tasks or move them around. Quick task addition is not a thing here.

### "A great central repository for client communication"

January 18, 2019

4.0

Pros

The ability to keep all communication with clients in one, trackable place.

Cons

Formatting text in discussions can get a little wonky like when you want to make a bulleted list, it sometimes makes the entire discussion bulleted but its a minor annoyance and doesn't detract from the larger experience.

### "Great tool for our team"

November 8, 2023

5.0

Pros

We really like the ability to capture information by project in stead of it getting lost in the email shuffle. Projects are easy to search and recall important info.

Cons

### "Basecamp for Internal Use and Client Use rocks!"

October 12, 2020

5.0

Pros

I've used this software for over 10 years, and refer it to Agency clients as well as in-house corporate. It is intuitive to use, and easy and fast to learn. It has a great mobile app.

Cons

The priorities, deadlines and milestones are not so easy to manage and view

### "Basecamp - Everyone has to be on board"

February 26, 2021

3.0

Basecamp is easy to use but requires "buy in" from the entire organization. If someone on your team does not check in or use the software regularly, it can cause serious problems with the work flow of a project. Basecamp does sent email reminders, but the number of emails can be so excessive that they look like white noise and are immediately deleted. Helpful software but it needs to be a part of employee's daily routine.

Pros

Basecamp is a great place to create a template for a checklist of things for example employee onboarding. You can use the same template and launch the "project" without recreating the exhaustive list of tasks. The user can easily assign the task to other members of the organization. The necessary documents can be linked to the task as well.

Cons

The biggest gap in basecamp's capabilities is reoccurring tasks. Some tasks on your list need to be completed weekly, monthly, or during some specified regular time. Basecamp does not have a method for this. You can combine it with other programs like Slack, but it would be nice if when scheduling a due date for a task the user could mark it as reoccurring.

### "Everything you need in project planning app, nothing you don't"

April 3, 2020

5.0

It's fair to say I've tried all of the project management tools out there. I've tried them for personal use, I've tried them for teams and orgs. This one takes the cake. Basecamp is focussed on clearly mapping out projects and ideas. It's got a lot of very nice smooth UX, such as the reminders, the clean design and the fact that everything is in one place.

Pros

The UX is the main selling point. Basecamp is designed to let you get on with work, while it gets out of the way. Basecamp goes beyond simple inflexible gantt charts, deadlines and milestones, and has the concept of a "hill chart". This makes it much easier to understand where any blockers are, and whether teams need help or resources. Basecamp also has a beautiful "focus" mode to allow you to work without disruptions, giving a polite signal to your coworkers that "now is not a good time".

Cons

There is nothing not to like. Personal preference will influence others of course.

Reason for choosing Basecamp

Nothing to install, great support, great pricing, beautiful product that really works.

### "Powerful Platform"

July 9, 2020

5.0

One of the best platforms for collaboration & integration into a team system.

Pros

I think the best feature of this software is the ability to share information with others in your group. Documents, files and messages are easy to share, and everything is easily accessible by team members. Your workflow is faster, allowing you to get more done quickly. Project management makes this software a time saver.

Cons

There are some features to this system that are not readily apparent, and not easy to find. Also, not being able to export to excel was a bit troublesome, and there is no ability to download multiple documents at once.

### "Novus Select Review"

July 22, 2019

5.0

So far it has been really pleasant and may be the fit our business needs. I still need to work more with the program, but should have a sense in the near future.

Pros

Best feature is the ability to assign to-do's and have their updates go directly to the assigning manager. Additionally, being able to comment on the to-do and see its progress is huge. I love the ability to reply directly to the Basecamp emails and have those responses populate into the platform.

Cons

I have yet to find something that I really don't like about the software. As person implementing the switch to Basecamp in our office, I'm trying to find bugs and things that don't cover the same need that was being fulfilled by Evernote. Actually, I would like to be able to have the screenshot plugin that directly saves SS's to the "documents" area of projects in Basecamp

Alternatives considered

[Slack](https://www.capterra.com/p/135003/Slack/)[Evernote Teams](https://www.capterra.com/p/154969/Evernote-Business/)

Reason for choosing Basecamp

It really came down to the above regarding to-do's for Evernote. Slack is a great messaging feature, but Basecamp has the same functionality that serves our needs, with so much more for less money.

### "Want to like it! But too complicated and not intuitive"

October 8, 2018

3.0

Some people seem to really like it, and so I continually have to use it. I simply think there are other tools available for what my team and our partners use it for.

Pros

The ability for multiple people to share files and comment on a thread, being able to differentiate between projects.

Cons

No matter what I do I seem to get confused at log-in. A number of different partners and coalitions my team is a part of use the tool, so we are constantly accessing different basecamps. I find the emails overwhelming, and when I customize them to come fewer and further between, I find that I miss things. It doesn't solve the problem email chains present if people are still using it in the same fashion/spamming your threads.

### "simple platform to join all info about an ongoing project into one."

April 13, 2021

4.0

Pros

It's easy to use, and complete. However, I haven't used any other systems, so I cannot compare.

Cons

Since I never used any similar system, I cannot compare, but in my view, basecamp does what it needs to do

### "Communication"

December 6, 2018

5.0

I had a session for the client and one for the agency, it was an easy way for our clients to approve work.

Pros

I like how you can organize the tasks and the ping option where you can chat with you team members.

Cons

If you are writing a comment and you refresh the browser by mistake all the information you where typing deletes.

### "Makes my life and business work"

February 28, 2018

5.0

Ease of use

Pros

It is user friendly and beautiful to look at. It helps me organize every aspect of my business and my personal life.

Cons

Basecamp3 is expensive for a small business like mine. It is the most expensive product that i use. Its worth it but i have considered canceling just because of the cost.

### "Simple, straightforward project management"

April 29, 2019

4.0

Pros

Basecamp is incredibly easy to use. Invite an email address to a project(s) and they are off to the races once the invite is accepted. Calendaring, to-do lists, and communication are simple and straight-forward with no need for extensive training. Pricing is affordable and a good value.

Cons

Simply put - it is very simple. If the need is to just do the basics quickly; it does the job. There are, however, other tools on the market that do these things and more. Additionally, while projects can be exported from the system, the files that are exported are html files/threads that can't in re-imported. This makes offlining/onlining in the name of storage management more difficult.
