### "The best all in one HQ for remote teams"

October 13, 2020

4.0

Overall, I love the way it feels like a virtual headquarters for your company where employees can chat, stay up to date with projects, and post all related docs and files, and integrate schedules, but in order to get the best experience with running an office remotely there is such limitation and little customization available. This is a great start, but you still need to use other tools to get a comprehensive set of tools to run and operate your business.

Pros

I love the fact that basecamp feels like a virtual office. The dashboard looks like virtual rooms that one can enter depending on the department you want to access. Basecamp has many features to make it feel like you're at the office like the different departments with access to files, chat, project management , to-do's, groups, and a link to schedule your time and tasks and keep track of meetings.

Cons

There is very little customization that can be done besides adding a company logo, and setting up your departments, groups and selecting which features to incorporate into the department tiles. I would love to be able to custom colorize the look and feel to make it more unique and visual, but there are limitations. Each tile that can be used for departments or projects, also have very little room for customization and you're not able to create any unique features besides your standard to dos, schedule, chat, and files.

### "The Best task allocation and monitoring tool available in the market"

August 24, 2022

5.0

In remote workplaces, it becomes very difficult to monitor and track the progress of your peers or teammates. Basecamp has been a saviour as it helps us not only monitor and allocate tasks but also becomes a source of communication for internal teams to get the work done. We recommend Basecamp to any IT company which has multiple projects and resources to handle.

Pros

Basecamp has been a great tool for our team as all the projects and tasks are allocated by the managers and peers on this platform and then it becomes easy for everyone to keep a track of it. Basecamp provides an easy communication via threads that make it very convenient to use. We at Wise IT inc have been using basecamp as a project management and collaboration tool and love how it makes our lives easier. It also has a mobile app which makes it more easier to keep a check on your phone when you are away from work.

Cons

Basecamp does not have video conferencing option yet which has become a very important feature for companies that are working from home. Apart form this, I have never faced any problem using Basecamp.

### "Work easy, Work smart with Basecamp"

November 4, 2022

4.0

I have a generally great experience with Basecamp in that it has allowed my Research project to progress well. With basecamp , I keep track of the research activities with the field data collectors, and have constant engagements with my colleagues. Our projects are moving fairly well.

Pros

I like the Task/Schedule management feature. The to do lists, alerts and notifications keep my time managed properly, and allow me the opportunity to perfect my activities.

Cons

I think there is need for improvement on the app integration so that it can be easier to merge the data from other apps on my device.

### "Basecamp - Quick, clear and easy to use"

April 22, 2021

4.0

My organisation was able to communicate swiftly and easily with Basecamp, share files with very little delay or fuss and manage projects very effectively for some time. We did eventually find that our company "outgrew" the software and required more features and structure but for a small team working on a handful of projects Basecamp is a perfect collaboration tool.

Pros

Basecamp has an excellent, clear interface and through the search fields and tools finding, sharing and commenting projects and teams is easy. File sharing and project tracking are also simple processes with this software.

Cons

Depending on your organisations skill and engagement with the system it can be very easy for your projects to "sprawl" and messages, notifications and files to become difficult to find quickly without a concerted effort to prune and tidy your projects and bookmark important files. Similar software packages provide more detailed file tree style storage and more visual, easier to follow project tracking. Given the greater cost of those pieces of software however Basecamp does stand out as an excellent compromise.

Reason for choosing Basecamp

Competitive pricing, good range of features, strong and easy to understand interface.

### "Great tool, but unfortunately the price is one of the highest values"

November 14, 2022

4.0

Pros

Basecamp is an incredibly strong task management tool. Great for small teams. As far as resource management and any medium sized projects basecamp lacks behind its competitors. With all this said, I love basecamp as it is nostalgic for decades now of work that I've been able to implement easy with teams and organizations.

Cons

resource management, alignment, lack of scheduling, confusing interface that forces users to just use search, upgrades and updates... although good, only make it harder to leave and not actually fix needed overhauls.

So Asana, was better designed back in 2018 or so, but was also very buggy at the time, and still lacked in scheduling and other areas, we made the switch and have been happy, but now basecamp is needing another overhaul to keep up with alternatives.Sad to say but their pricing model (back then) was unmatched and now they are switching that up to be per user/month like everyone else. I'd suggest they stick in their lane, but alas.

### "Basecamp - The All-in-One You Didn't Know You Had."

August 4, 2021

5.0

Our team's experience with Basecamp has been a positive one for years. I can't think of a time it ever failed us or our clients when it came to meeting important deadlines or ensuring everyone was aware of a project update. It's dependable, user-friendly and gives you way more than what you think you're getting out of a software platform like this.

Pros

Overall, I like Basecamp's ease of use. You can spend 5 minutes navigating the platform and by the end of it, you'll know most of what it can do and how you can do it. Everything is "in your face simple" and clear to understand, which is how most software products should be.

Cons

Though I've rarely encountered any issues or cons with Basecamp and do love its simplicity, I think it could benefit from allowing users to make the content they post on Discussions more customizable. For example, adding an underline button or colours/highlighting to your text.

### "Basecamp 101 (My Point Of View)"

August 14, 2021

5.0

It was pleasantries all around, I'm still going to continue using it to learn more about other features Basecamp has to offer. That's how much I like the app.

Pros

Basecamp has a free plan that caters for 20 users. I work with a team of 10 so this was most ideal for me. I don't need to pay for independent productivity applications, I have an all in one solution in Basecamp. It is very easy to use and has a bevy of things to offer, do yourself a favor and give it a shot.

Cons

In all honesty I can't think of a single thing worth mentioning as a con but if I were to engage in pedantic fault-finding, I'd say that I would rather flat-out own the software instead of renting it out on a monthly basis which is why I use the free version.

Reason for choosing Basecamp

Basecamp came with more features in one package, as opposed to having an array of apps that I would have to switch from this to that continuously.

### "Basecamp - Great for young people, not user friendly for older generations"

August 18, 2020

4.0

I had to give a presentation on Toastmaster's Pathways and navigating to and through Basecamp and I realized we are not utilizing a lot of the great features Basecamp offers. Again, a lot of the members I've spoken with (both local and international) all say the same thing, that it's confusing to navigate through, the look of the website changed and the headers are confusing. The word Basecamp didn't sit well with a lot of people, but after searching this on YouTube I figured out that Toastmaster's didn't do a good job of explaining what is Basecamp and what the purpose of Basecamp is. If they had chosen to use words or headers like, "Account" that would sound more familiar it would've helped with getting to know the layout. Also, finding materials is still a bit of a maze, but again, that's the organizations lack of set-up and not really Basecamp's fault. With Basecamp all of the learning materials that used to be in booklets were now transferred to the computer and had live video demonstrations, organized power points and links to more resources beyond what is written on the page; it definitely enhanced our learning but also overwhelmed us because there were almost too many resources available in every language you can think of in different parts of the site. Now that I know that Basecamp is a project management software I can help others learn about it and utilize it to the fullest extent.

Pros

I use this software for my Toastmaster's Club and it has a lot of great features that aren't being utilized because of the confusion of maneuvering through it. I can: leave feedback or ask for feedback from other members, track my progress via pie charts, access multimedia learning materials easily, store documents related to my project for historic record or for easy recall.

Cons

Toastmaster's is an world renown organization that has a very even mix of younger and older or retired members; the oldest member in my club is 92 years old. As of June this year, everyone was required to get a Pathways account and log into their Base Camp. I am one of the younger members (39 years old) and even I didn't find Basecamp to be clear cut or intuitive and was frustrated. It got so bad, that the area directors asked every club to nominate a Toastmaster's Pathways or Base Camp "Ambassador" that they can refer people to when they needed help. We had a virtual conference recently and there was an intro class on how to use Pathways/Base Camp and everyone was clearly confused and it didn't make sense to them. There were too many steps to get to the login pages and to get to the actual base camp. Also, the word base camp was not explained to everyone. I think we were looking for something like, "Account" which is equivalent to going to your base camp. I believe the roll out of this new website and way of tracking our progress was poor and has cause a lot of frustration, discouragement and even loss of membership for our older members.

Reason for choosing Basecamp

I didn't choose Basecamp, the organization I'm a part of choose this. My guess is a lot of developers were also a part of Toastmasters and saw the need to move everything online.

### "Basecamp is the best tool for simple to do list. "

I have left basecamp and went to Teamwork.com, after a while, returned to basecamp. I have left basecamp and went to Monday.com, after a while returned to basecamp. That shouls tell you something.

Pros

I think the simplicity of basecamp is wonderful. Almost everyone can ue basecamp, take a new user and throw them into Monday.com or TeamWork.com and they will get lost and faiil. But with Basecamp, it is so easy and intuitive, everyone succeeds!

Cons

Reporting especially email reporting is very weak. also, printing can be improved greratly.

### "Basecamp is simply the best at what they do. Easy to use, logically designed, totally in love!!!"

March 7, 2018

5.0

Pros

It's simple interface makes managing multiple projects a dream. As a Marketing Manager, I'm over seeing everything from product launch to creative development. I have a larger team working on a broad array of projects. Basecamp let's me go in, add tasks, easily check progress and get updated on everything in a manner of minutes. If I let my notifications go untouched for most of the day, Basecamp is so easy to use that I can clear my Heystack notifications (usually 60+) in a few minutes. Updates are that clear!!! Basecamp, if used properly, could totally eliminate the need for internal email. In fact, I insist my team use Basecamp instead of email. Basecamp focuses communication on the work being done and allows everyone a view on the conversation. This is a problem with email, and merely fwd'ing or cc'ing all the time doesn't really fix the problem of keeping a large team 100% informed. Plus, we all know that no one reads their email. Beyond that, their customer service is top notch. They take a personal approach with everyone. I once caused an issue with how they program their "todo lists" and they created a fix JUST FOR ME! I assume others use it too, but they wouldn't know that it the "fix" was even a fix, because it was the personal touch that Basecamp gave me that introduced the fix.

Cons

Basecamp has taken a minimalist approach to software design and as a project management tool. In some cases, I do find myself wishing for certain features. Ultimately, I've tried other software and though they may do what Basecamp does while also including those other features, Basecamp is simply the best at what they do, even without the other features, so I have never considered switching.

### "A great tool for organizing projects and overall task management"

May 11, 2021

5.0

Overall experience with Basecamp is great and would definitely recommend this to other teams. It keeps our whole organization organized which is the main goal, and I think it's a great tool.

Pros

Basecamp has a learning curve but once you use it often and explore the functionalities it's really great to keep organized and stay on top of tasks, it's easy to first learn and get a hang of the platform. The features of Basecamp are great because you can see your tasks according to dates and also see everyone else's tasks as well. And I like that I can create my own to-dos in my own projects too.

Cons

It would be great if Basecamp had a function to see an overall calendar so that we are able to see what we have coming in the pipeline as far as workload goes, or if we can rate each task/to-do with a scale of what we're able to prioritize. Another thing that I feel should be improved on is that when a template is being copied over, I do not like that it includes the person who created it, and that person still get notifications for completion, or when there's any action involved. I also do not like how there is not a way to remove someone from a certain notification from a task that they created, if a person creates a to-do, they are bound to receiving notifications and there is not a way to turn this off for specific to-dos.

### "Feedback for Basecamp"

December 8, 2022

5.0

We have been able to check our progress for each project easily. It has really helped in Task assignement, Project Management and Communication. It serves as a great tool for the company that is Data-Driven.

Pros

The most important features of Basecamp are;1. User-friendly - A person who is not tech-savvy can learn easily without many difficulties.2. We can easily keep a track of the Projects on which we are working.3. If the company is more data-driven, it can be of great use. As each and every activity is recorded in it.4. Assigning the Task is an amazing feature. You can easily assign tasks to a team member and put a due date on it. If for some reason Team member is not able to complete it on time. He/she has an option to put note on it as well.6. Communication is easy on basecamp.7. There are various message boards that will help you in the proper segregation of data. 8. Basecamp has also taken into consideration the informal conversation for Team Members, They have kept a Campfire for that wherein you can chat around. 9. Last but not least, The Daily/Weekly check-ins you can put on each project are amazing. You don't have to remind your Team Members each and everything. Just put a check in and each member will be notified.Overall, I am satsified with the product.

Cons

The only Con that I felt in this product is related to alerts/ notifications. There is no reminder option in the product. I think if it will have a reminder option like we have in Microsoft outlook that would be great and then we will not forget to reply someone if somehow at the first instance the notification got skipped.

### "Helps you achieve more and faster"

September 24, 2021

It's a great project management system, gets the job done and makes it easy to collaborate. It will probably give you the tools you need for the job you want done. It's just a bit on the pricier side if you use a lot of heavy files.

Pros

We started using it to have files shared with clients to be approved, but soon we realized they could join in and make the process much more collaborative, so we started using it more and more.

Cons

It's pretty expensive, especially if you use it a lot with heavier files.

### "I'm not sure if it's the same people on this one, since there are different versions of this gig sw"

October 29, 2018

3.0

For the fact that it's an app on a major app store, I would have obviously come across it, for the fact that it was something of some form of various thing that I would come across in categorical and ad hoc searching, as it turns out. Aside from not understanding what the purpose of the software was, based on the description that was included in all of the versions in the App Store, I found it particularly disparaging to the community that they framed the purpose of the app as an occupation and dump in of trucks and trailers, and tons of people from out of town, on any given day, whereas the trailers were there in supposition that they were showers that were provided to the homeless, on one day. On one hand, they're not there every day, but on the other hand, it was a bit strange that this ended up being what the app is about.

Pros

In essence, I suppose that this app seems a bit in opposition to the browsing app store user coming across it and then, at some point, upon trying to understand what the portent of the impact of the software is, fairly soon turns up browsing through more apps, wondering what this app is about; particularly to have 3 release versions of it, at this point in time. Regardless, it turned in to a yellow sign "base camp" social work news article publication thing for the sake of publicizing push material of support for what ended up being a seething attrition for the locals of the area where the "base camp" installment of "obviously, it's on account of the app in the app store thing," and on top of that, there was significant opposition to me as a mental health client recipient of services (supposedly), just tangentially, and for a few times, perhaps, of this art therapy group of people, and then they talked and acted out towards me in my head, outside of any sort of professional or service provider and client circumstances.

Cons

I feel like the spirit of development in software, for the purpose of disparaging the client, of a completely different and separate supposition of relation, whatsoever, in regards to the original purpose of meeting with these developers, is simply wrong and unprofessional. These developers cause a significant problem in a different locality between people who are not housed in downtown Los Angeles, on the incident that happened witnessed, and whatever the story was in my head about what anyone might think about such an influx of people in to the area, which is all too common, in various ways; On top of that, they're plotted right at 222 S. Hill St. 7th floor, Los Angeles, CA, 90012, and they do events of disparagement against me and my family commonly, while trying to suppose that their self esteem is supported and is superior, while homeless and mentally ill bullying and stalking victims are inferior, on account of group brute strength over an individual. They run ostensibly false and slight charity drives for supposedly unfortunate other people.

### "So glad I found Basecamp!!"

August 10, 2022

5.0

I've had a great experience with Basecamp. I've collaborated with a number of projects on this tool and it's been essential in managing my projects. Since I'm in the growing phases of my business, I SO glad they have a free feature that allows me to use 3 free projects. Once I reach a level where I have a team and I'm serving more clients, then I can see myself getting the Basecamp paid plan. Thank you for offering such a great product!

Pros

Another designer recommended Basecamp for managing web design projects. This product allows me to keep everything for my client projects in one place! I like being able to collaborate with clients on a timeline and assigning them tasks. The chat feature is very helpful. I like that we can upload all their documents and even link to Google documents. The mobile is very useful for doing business on the go. I can really stay organized with Basecamp and it keeps me accountable with timelines. I love that I can make it client-facing so there is a level of transparency on timelines. I can use this tool to do all communications with clients and not have a string of emails to go through.

Cons

I've been going back and forth with the documents section and if I should use Google Drive to store documents or if I should use Basecamp. People are most familiar with Google Drive, however when I educate and train them on how to use Basecamp, then it will help them be more comfortable with navigating the software. I would like training videos for clients to be able to get an overview of how to get the most of Basecamp while working together. If Basecamp doesn't have a video overview, then this will be something that I can work on.

Basecamp has an easy to use interface. It allows me to share design mockups, email and live chat with clients (I've used this messaging feature a lot), store documents and keep projects on timeline. Asana didn't do well with emailing images to clients. They were blurry and hard to find on the email.

A wonderful and very special experience. I loved this application since I used it. Because there are different functions in it, and it cannot perform several roles in one application

Pros

How to navigate between tasks and projects within the application is very wonderful, as well as how to manage tasks, set appointments and tasks, and communicate with workers, very wonderful. It was a unique experience

### "Basecamp for Teams"

May 18, 2021

4.0

We have started and completed close to 150 projects in Basecamp; crossing every department in our organization. It has helped us keep people informed, keep tasks on target, and complete projects in a timely and efficient manner. Their help system is very detailed. It seems like most reviewers just can not find it. https://3.basecamp-help.com/ We are very pleased with the product, but we want to see more enhancements coming, and more often. The product desperately needs sublists, priorities, milestones, and very tight integration with Office 365. We would also like to see the use of templates. Anything from planning a canoe trip to launching a new retail store would be very helpful. Overall, it is a great product, but we may outgrow it if enhancements are not added. If some of these features do not come soon, it may drive long-standing customers away from the product.

Pros

We have been using Basecamp for 7 years now. What we liked at first was the simple design and speed at which you can learn the product. You can be up, running and have a project underway in less than 10 minutes. It checked all the boxes initially. Simple to use, ability to create project groups and associated tasks, assign users, and dates, and attach files. In Basecamp 3 they added grouped tasks within the parent list, and the ability to assign multiple people to a single task.

Cons

Basecamp needs sublists, priorities, and milstones. They also need to build a native integration completely into Office 365. Instead of fighting it, embrace Office 365 Sharepoint, Onedrive, and Teams.

Reason for choosing Basecamp

Basecamp was far simpler to use, less expensive, had all the features we needed, and none that we didn't. We just needed a simple to use, and well-thought-out management tool.

### "Decent project management tool for small teams!"

November 24, 2020

5.0

We started Basecamp in v2 and still using it for smaller internal projects. Basecamp does a lot good when you are working with smaller simple focused projects which are run individually. Most of our clients are now demanding to be in Slack or MS Teams as part of collaboration so we have to move to newer tools and apps as required by clients. As part of 2020/2021 vision, we are now targeting to move all our artifacts and teams to Slack or MS Teams and service most of our collaboration/discussion/file sharing

Pros

The most important and stand out feature of the product is the fixed pricing. Its use all you can and no per user seating billing makes it absolutely a product for internal smaller teams. We have used this product for little over 2 years now and is used by various teams inside the company. With basic features like tasks, calendar, file sharing, we found it relatively smaller projects which does not involve too many requirement changes or too much of pre-start documentation required.

Cons

Handling large multiple projects, tracking each project activities, and above all tracking individual contractors work/ timesheet tracking has been a pain point with this product for us. Check-ins work great for a product company but since ours is a technology services projects where work really has to be tracked and detailed at most levels has been a challenge for us. Most of our clients are already on or they prefer/recommend apps from slack and MS Teams and demand to use basecamp in their ecosystem is not very in demand for us.

Reason for choosing Basecamp

The number #1 was obviously fixed price of the product and not per seat basis. We found value in collaboration and getting things done with smaller teams and smaller projects. We can easily add clients and share only data that we need.

Trello was adopted well by most of our clients and we proposed to use the Trello boards for projects. But the fact is that we don't always use Agile strictly in "services" industry. As in all services companies, we find ourselves always racing against time, hence the boards will not always reflect correct effort, time or estimation. Hence we made a switch from Trello to Basecamp as it offered client portal which can be shared and we can add clients and wanted more collaboration

### "overrall rating for basecamp"

June 24, 2023

5.0

it was wonderful using basecamp,as it made life easier for a lot of people around who works online and do bussinesses.I have been using this software since six months and felt it very easy ,organized and convenient to use.It has all the latest features that is required by any company ,individual or bussiness.I would definitely recommend this software for managing my projects ,and working with clients.

Pros

live chat support and file management are my most favourite feature in basecamp.Files are kept in one place .Particularly beneficial for virtual teams.Every project has a Document and Files section, which makes it simpler to locate older files.

Cons

Even though we do not now have time monitoring,we are continully working to make it better. It can't archive topics that are no longer be used .By archiving them, you may reduce clutter without having to remove subjects that might prove helpful in the future.

### "Best Software for Task Management and Project Management"

September 9, 2022

4.0

Basecamp is more than just a project management software, it provides collaboration, to do listing, scheduling, file sharing, and real time communication tools making teams well organized. It also allows to manage multiple projects; grouping of to do list helps to make project more organized.

Pros

Basecamp makes it easy to manage project and tasks in it; Basecamp enables to manage multiple projects. Scheduling tasks alongwith predetermined due date enables managing deadline of each task; tracking of tasks shows how project is progressing against plan alongwith breakup into underlying tasks; even Basecamp makes it clear who is accountable for what tasks. It has real time communication tools like group chats (for internal discussions), message boards (for large scale communications) and pings (for individual or small group conversations); here we can share documents, images and videos. Similar nature tasks can be classified; price of Basecamp is reasonable.

Cons

Basecamp does not have features of subtasks (however, there are tricky ways to get it done), time tracking, gantt views, global visibility across multiple projects; no auto save option in it. Managing several projects is very technical and tricky rather simple. Basecamp does not allow to assign priority to specific tasks which could enable to focus on high level tasks among to do list. Moreover, Basecamp takes excessive time to incorporate new features. Collaboration in Basecamp does not allow entire engaged team to update the project from individual's end in a way that it gets update for all members of the team. Customer support responsiveness is below expectations. Furthermore, sometimes it got random errors.

### "Basecamp made managing my team members easier than ever!"

December 22, 2021

5.0

You can call it the Jack of All Trades. Before using Basecamp I had to use a lot of apps for different purposes. For example, one to-do app, another file-sharing app, another messaging app, and so on. It hampered my productivity. But luckily I found Basecamp and this thing got me covered. Now I can have fewer meetings with my team members and save time to do something productive. The integration with other app made it the real hero. I can automate my tasks on Basecamp by using popular integration services and those work seamlessly with Basecamp.

Pros

I have been using Basecamp for a while now. I am genuinely in love with the overall user interface of this platform. It is very easy to use and intuitive. The free plan of the Basecamp is quite generous and it is enough for most of the users. This is why I love this tool so much. But there are some other features that are really helping me to manage my remote team. I can easily assign tasks with deadlines. The email notification system and the mobile app added to the overall value of this tool. I observed that it loads faster on any device with a slower internet connection. This is why my team members even from countries with slow internet can easily access this tool. Overall, the experience is top-notch and I recommend everyone to use this tool.

Cons

There is nothing that I hate about this product. But I think the amazing developer team behind this tool can bring some improvements to the existing features. The price for the Business Plan is quite affordable for large teams. But if they can bring some affordable paid plan for the individual users it would be so much helpful.

Before using Basecamp I used Trello. That was kind of okay for managing a tiny team. But when my team grew, I had to find an alternative with most features. Basecamp is the perfect one for all kinds of project management. File storage and document sharing come in handy at times. Overall, this is a hundred times better than Trello and I am fully satisfied with this.

Great tool! The ease of use makes it simple to understand and have it work for your business’s specific needs.

Pros

It’s very easy to use! When you are first introduced to the platform you can quickly learn and use the tools. Makes it easy for new clients and team members.

Cons

When you change the date of a task, it would be helpful for all follow-up tasks to automatically change their due dates based on the new timeline.
