As the application is pretty solid - it covers all the grounds for project management. Maybe a better reporting solution. Pros The beauty of basecamp is it allows you to give access to the client to view projects pending and statuses. My supervisor used it to collaborate with me on projects. At that point, I only used it because my boss did. When I transitioned into a full-time role, I put Basecamp to the side, not knowing I'd miss it. Once I had interns of my own, I found myself dropping the ball on projects and neglecting client communication. So I turned back to Basecamp. Goodness gracious, it saved my from so much anxiety. I was able to put my clients and my expertise in the same place....and shield various portions of the project from clients until they were ready to be seen. I was able to keep up with which tasks were assigned to which intern. I kept on schedule with to-do lists. Needless to say, I don't know where I'd be without Basecamp. It makes the work atmosphere much more organized and enjoyable. It's not easy to learn how to use though. Pros Great project management software application. It's goal oriented so it makes you get things done. You can create your own project and start implementing to-do lists aswell as milestone and tasks management. It allows you to share and save files so it's really convenient. Cons Design isn't great as the application is not very easy to use so some people can have trouble learning how to use it. It's great and has a very low learning curve which I love. There are some features I'd love to have and to Basecamp's credit they do offer in Basecamp 3 version. However, some of the other changes they made (like changing Projects to be called Basecamps - our people couldn't get past that for some reason! ) caused us to move back to Version 2. Either way, we love it so much that we are willing to overlook the lack of features that we'd love to have. We are spread out among 4 locations and Basecamp helps us keep all of our projects organized. As a Project Manager I can stay informed of how my team is doing and what work is still not completed. Pros I love the interface, its bright and user friendly. I love the fact that my entire team can stay focused on the most important tasks. I can communicate with my team and keep them motivated with daily or weekly messages. It has almost everything you need to manage projects and assign tasks. The customer service was incredible. You post a question on Twitter and get a response right away. Cons It is cost prohibitive for small companies. I like that they give one free project but if I wanted to use the software for more projects it would be out of my price range. Some of the features I never use like the campfires and pings but others might find them useful. All in all, I would rather have too many features, even some that I don't use than not have enough. It's the defacto program for project management. Pros Basecamp is very easy to deploy and it's very user-friendly. Even those who aren't techies can easily use Basecamp. Great for planning long term projects and making sure that everyone is all on the same page. I love that it notifies the whole team that is tagged on a certain project whenever anything is updated. I also Love the chat feature as well as the automatic check-in option to make sure everyone is meeting their deadlines! Overall an amazing, feature rich program! Cons Its a little more expensive than other similar software options out there for project management , so while I do appreciate their features, I have found he that I am able to accomplish a lot of the same things with less expensive software. Pros I've only used Basecamp on one project, (back when it was still free) and I really liked the experience. It was perfect for that one project. Beyond assigning tasks and following up, there is a lot more Basecamp can do. I liked the scheduled check ins, saved a lot of work for me. It was very useful to upload files, see the tasks laid out on a timeline and summarize activities in a neat way. Cons I really wish it has a free option still. For a software that has some UI imperfections, is a bit too much. Beside all the great tools that Basecamp offers, it is a but clunky and doesn't look too professional. It probably has the thing you need, but will you find it? Some nice clean up for the tools and maybe a bit less compartmentalising would make a huge difference. Review Source Domenic D. (I don't know if I have a stripped-down view as a vendor.) It's always felt "just fine" to me--a place to communicate and share timelines and files but not much else. The software appears to be trying to do more than it really can. There's too much information that's disorganized, confusing, and hard to find. Basecamp has been underwhelming to me in its capabilities and organizational abilities. Pros Basecamp keeps files, to-do lists, task calendar, and discussions in one place. It is easy to use and user friendly. Cons I wish there was some kind of desktop notifications.I quickly stopped visiting the basecamp page on my browser and at some point just stop using it. There's a ''desktop version'', but it is just a copy/paste of the browser version. CALENDAR." September 28, 2019 4.0 I used BaseCamp from its very inception until they took away the calendar feature. I then reluctantly went to Asana. Pros I loved this software until they axed the calendar function, which was a HUGE reason I used it! It allowed my team to work together seamlessly. Cons Everything was GREAT until they took away the calender. It completely ruined the functionality for me and I had to switch to Asana. It helps editors and writers to connect and work on the same piece of work seamlessly. It’s also versatile, so you can add different types of media to a work (eg photos). Cons Integration is not very great, compared with other similar tools (eg wordpress). Automation with customized codes may not be easy. And, the marketing slogan is not clear enough for some people to understand what it does actually.
