My users are running reports and are finding errors. The data in EnergyCAP is used to make financial decisions. Do your organization a favor and start using EnergyCAP. I have over 30 years in the energy business and I have used various software, and EnergyCAP is the best! Pros There are many exciting features in EnergyCAP. Some of the features are the dashboards, reports, customer support and the Help Center. The dashboards are easy to create and the data tells the story. I like reports and EnergyCAP has over 100 reports. My favorite reports are the usage, costs and charts. The customer support is outstanding and the response is fast. The Help Center has videos and the information is detailed. Cons I really have no cons except, I wish the terminology reflected what the utilities use. However, this is not a show stopper. Campus Energy Manager Used the software for: ### "Outdated, un-intuitive, glorified spreadsheet" June 10, 2015 1.0 For our purposes, this product is a hammer trying to find a nail; a simple spreadsheet can replace the functionality required for our purposes. The product pricing is not suitable for an institution our size. Essentially, the software has no payback for our campus. It is a constant nuisance to figure out whether the client or web is better for certain tasks. The client is beyond old and needs to be updated. The website interface is made with Flash, which is an outdated technology that most software companies have fled. The entire gui needs to be vetted by an experienced HCI team in order to make product more user friendly. Review Source Response from EnergyCAP June 15, 2015 Varick makes some valid points. Adobe Flash/Flex was a common choice for browser-based applications five years ago, but (as he correctly points out) many software companies have moved away from it, EnergyCAP included. A release of our HTML 5 browser user interface is planned for late in 2015, and we are close to finally retiring the legacy installed client as we re-design, re-engineer and move additional features to the browser version. I would also agree that many smaller universities, colleges and community colleges find great success with lower-priced systems, such as our simpler EnergyCAP Express or Enterprise Online versions. However, UC Merced is part of the University of California system-wide EnergyCAP implementation, including the large campuses that DO require the full Enterprise functionality. I want to talk about the customer service. EnergyCAP has dedicated customer service professionals that are there to make sure you are successful. They are very responsive and easy to schedule a meeting with if needed. EnergyCap also has Eco champions that allows customers to interact and learn from each other. EnergyCap also has monthly training sessions on multiple topics. After you have purchased the product they are there for you! I have increase my revenues by 200% just by using this software over the past 1 year. Pros Wattics has a great way of visualizing energy data and works with several different brands of meters. It has great way of displaying energy analytics that makes our clients love it. On top of it, the M&V functionality is robust and follow IPMVP protocols of measurement and verification. Cons I think wattics can do something on multiple linear regression. Adding this feature will improve the software functionality. The platform enables us to view, visualize and report consumption patterns in diverse ways with simple and efficient functionalities. The Wattics platform is compatible with a wide range of (existing) hardware and this makes it easy to install and get up and running. Support is excellent. Energy usage and cost was being tracked on a limited basis through spreadsheets. This software has dramatically improved our ability to track and manage energy and water usage and cost at a county-wide level and at all levels including by government/schools, by each department, by similar building type (office buildings, libraries, elementary schools, etc.), down to a by meter level for an individual building. Importing large amounts of data takes minutes. Bills are flagged if the software detects a possible issue (gap in billing, overlap in billing, spike in usage, spike in cost, etc.). The implementation process was onerous since we wanted to back-import as much history as possible, but the Energy CAP folks were extremely available and worked with us during the entire implementation. Pros \- User friendly and very intuitive - Nice "dashboard" for at-a-glance analysis, can be filtered to analyze at various levels from whole portfolio down to a single building - Robust reporting options - Most of my peers are using the same software so we can share tips and lessons learned Cons \- It is expensive but there is a lot of value for the cost - Some ability to customize but some custom features cost extra Review Source ML Mark L. (2) Can produce virtually any report one could ever want. (3) Ability and flexibility to name and change all accounts and meters. (4) Set up in such a manner that one can access specific or general reports and info very fast. (5) Like how it now can produce reports in Excel or PDF's. Cons (1) Compared to the former desktop version, there can be a slight lag due to being online. (2) The former desktop version allowed one to see more info without having to hunt for it. June 25, 2015 5.0 I am an energy conservation professional, and I have been using EnergyCAP Professional for two years now. eCAP Pro is the online version of the eCAP product, so I can access it from any computer with internet access. It works best within the Google Chrome browser rather than the Internet Explorer browser. eCAP is pre-loaded with a huge variety of reports, which you can customize with filters. It has multiple billing templates to accommodate the information provided by most utility providers in this bills. The eCAP team periodically pushes through new enhancements to their online product, and the product is constantly evolving and improving. It has more features added in the past two years that make it easier for users to both enter data, manage data and analyze data. One of the latest enhancements that really find valuable and useful to me is that when I am entering billing data into a screen for a particular meter, I can see right away on the right side of the screen three graphs showing me with live updates as I enter how this bill's info is comparing to the bills from the last 12 months and comparing them to the previous 12 months, live right there on the right side. Before, I had to switch screens to see the visuals that helped me spot trends. This new enhancement of putting them graphs right there on the bill entry screen lets me see if something may be off with that bill or an area of concern right there as I am entering it. We started using the Wattics platform as an added service to our main business as a way to manage ongoing energy performance for our various LEED projects. Our experience couldn't have been better and we realized energy savings for our clients right away. Even though none of our staff has a background in energy management, we were able to deploy the meters and work with the platform easily. For the areas that we did not know well, Wattics customer support was stellar and provided us timely responses to all our questions. Of greatest benefit to us was the fact that the Wattics platform complies with the new LEED version 4 Energy & Atmosphere credit requirements. By using the meters and cloud-based platform, we are able to obtain 7 points in the system, which has proved crucial under v4's stringent regulations. Pros We are so excited about this software because it is tailored for energy professionals. We find that even when selling to building owners or property managers, they are not the experts who know how to make their building as efficient as possible. They need trusted professionals with data to back them up to help them make the best decision on what upgrades are necessary to maximize ROI. My goal with my clients is to offer them real and useful data to assist them manage their sites. The Wattics system not only allows them view their data but learns their consumption profiles and reports on issues outside the norms the system has learned. My clients and I have found the system easy to navigate and get the data needed to make decisions quickly. We use the activity analyser to estimate the savings which may be achieved by implementing energy saving projects or changes to BMS settings. We also provide project M&V reporting for our clients and for the first time we can now do this to the IPMVP standard using the Wattics system. In summary Wattics has improved the user interface to increase user engagement and has developed new highly innovative features to make energy management reporting an in house function rather than engaging a costly energy consultant on a project by project basis. EnergyCAP has allowed us to understand our energy consumption profile better than we ever have, to see areas where we can save energy, and to assess possible sustainability initiatives. The greatest value that our company receives from EnergyCAP is transparency in our utility cost and consumption and enhanced ability to find potential billing errors that often result in refunds or bill credits.
