Overall, our association chapter is pleased with StarChapter and would recommend it to other chapters.

Pros

StarChapter is a fantastic platform for our association chapter because it provides many features that are plug and play, so our site looks professional without requiring a background in website design. It allows us to manage our event and membership and it's an excellent value for the money compared to competitors.

Cons

Some of the ready to go templates are not easy to manipulate with regards to formatting. The features that would allow easy changes to font, indents, spacing and tables are difficult to format and often require extra time and steps to achieve the desired result.

The user friendly system. It is a system that is developing but will always cost after every development.

Cons

The time that it takes to receive a reply or resolution. I can send a request and it will take days to speak to someone

Good overall, no big complaints. It gets the job done for managing the chapter, even though there is room for it to feel more current and flexible compared to other platforms we have used. But since pricing is going up and your staffing has streamlined, we'd like to see better functionality to go along with that.

Pros

Having everything in one place is the biggest win. Membership data, event registration, payments, and communications all live in a single system instead of being scattered across multiple tools.

Cons

Lack of functions compared to what we actually need day to day. The layout is not very modern, and it shows when we are trying to present a polished front end to members and the public.

Overall, our experience with StarChapter has been positive. The platform provides a wide range of functionality that supports the day-to-day operations of a nonprofit membership organization. While it takes time to learn and occasionally requires support assistance to understand how different modules interact, the system is reliable and capable. The quality of customer support has been a major factor in our continued success with the platform, as the team is consistently helpful and responsive when questions arise.

Pros

StarChapter offers a robust set of features for association management, including membership tracking, event registration, website management, email communications, and payment processing. Once configured, it serves as a centralized hub for many chapter operations. Their customer support team is excellent—responsive, knowledgeable, and always willing to jump on a call to troubleshoot issues or help users navigate the system.

Cons

The learning curve can be steep, especially for new administrators. It is not always intuitive how pages, modules, forms, and website components are connected behind the scenes. Some settings can be difficult to locate, and making updates often requires navigating multiple areas of the system. The user interface could benefit from modernization and improved navigation.

Overall, I do like StarChapter. I especially like that everything is in one place. I like how easy it is for me to update the website and add/remove information. I wish the StarChapter team was more available to help with technical questions.

Pros

I like that you are able to send email to the members register to an event. I like it easy to update the website.

Cons

I don't like that it deposits the payment per day rather than by event. It makes it hard to balance our books because we have to approximately add the amount that was raised into the appropriate account. I also do not like that there's no way for members to have conversations on the member login area. It would be nice to have an area where people can communicate with each other, like a blog.

It's a good product. I like it overall. I wished there was a way to have the system generate a certificate of attendance with editable information.

Pros

The website looks professional and give me control of what is put on the site. I like the event management most of all.

Cons

That I have to update some items on the site instead of having StarChapter do it. Some items is more technical than I care to work on. When you click the attended button, it would be great to automatic renew membership.

I appreciate the strong customer service and timeliness of it when needed. Whenever I hit a challenge, I get support in a timely manner.

Pros

We have been using StarChapter for years, and it is an easy and effective tool for our association's membership management.

Cons

Some of the ways of finding and publishing pages is hard to figure out since we only use and update those pages annually.

Overall StarChapter is a great product. I know there are aspects that I have yet to learn and I would like that opportunity. Perhaps StarChapter could offer an intermediate training for associations that have had the system for a few years.

Pros

The convenience of having everything for the association in one place. Membership, communications and registrations for meeting all connected. StarChapter also responds to questions in a very prompt manner.

Cons

Some of the spreadsheets that the system generates need to have the capability to change the columns.

OK experience. Not great overall. I would not subscribe again with the price increase. There are more intuitive and better features on other competing systems.

Pros

It has good integration for all association functions. The website integration is easy once you understand where each page can be edited.

Cons

It is not very intuitive and takes time to get used to. Printing out invoices in batches is not possible.

They have been great to work with. Support tickets are generally resolved in 24 hours. Help information is available online to solve many questions for ourselves.

Pros

This software provided the critical software for our small professional organization at a reasonable price. It allows us to have a website and collects dues as well as capture registrations for our annual conference. We love the credit card payment solution and reporting integrated within the system.

Cons

The one drawback for us is the awkward way memberships are by person instead of by company. There are extra steps to complete to keep all people from the same company listed as paid members.
