### "The Best All Round CAD Package on the market"

July 26, 2020

5.0

If I could only have one CAD program I'd choose Rhino. The product is highly capable, excellently coded and well supported by the manufacturer. I can't wait for Rhino 7!

Pros

The best thing about Rhino is that it does everything well. Solids, surfaces or meshes, Rhino is great. They have also made great strides in the drafting component of the software to the point where I finally ditched AutoCAD. The more I use Rhino the more I discover it can do. Its extensibility with Grasshopper has really made it unique in the CAD world. Its also highly extensible with a range of companion programs and add-ons. I own license's for other much more expensive Parametric solids modellers which led me to expect even higher capabilities and quality. This has not been the case. The high end products are often buggy, have poorly implemented new features and draconian licensing systems. The team at Rhino should be commended for the reliability and stability of their product. In the feature film industry where I work I have seen Rhino taking market share especially since they released a MAC compatible version. It simply offers the best bang for buck in the market place.

Cons

Rhino is not perfect, there are frustrating parts about the controls and interface like all programs. I would love a more parametric approach to surface modelling. Grasshopper has some answers here, but the learning curve is very steep and time consuming. There are also times when complex surfacing commands fail for no apparent reason. Some visual feedback on problem areas would be awesome.

AutoCAD is more expensive, slower, less reliable and far less capable than Rhino particularly in surface modelling.

### "Benefits and struggles of Rhino"

June 21, 2021

4.0

The logic of the program and the way its organized is super helpful. Rhino allows me to create objects in multiple ways but there are too many issues that force me to switch programs constantly so as to be able to fully define my objects without errors.

Pros

I love the logic of the tools and how theyre organized. I normally use the icons to create the objetcs i want but the searchbar allows me to create things i wasnt aware that were an option. Being able to see different views and modify my objects in all of them at the same time really helps with the flow of my work! Rhino allows me to create surfaces and meshes according to the way i think them, i can create them by adding/substracting or i can create them procedurally

Cons

Every time i create something in rhino, i always struggle to not leave any vertices open. Even after having different options (like End, Point, etc) turned on, its extremely hard to join a point to another or to a line. On top of that, rhino doesnt let me know when this happens and i only find out when i try to print the file. This means i have to export my meshes to another program (i use solidworks a lot for that) so as to check for errors. I also use the boolean tool quite often and sometimes i get the (!) errors but they dont specify what the issue is so i always struggle to fix it and create the results i want. Creating chamfers and fillets is also complicated in rhino. Most of the time, it creates a different surface in the shape of the chamfer, instead of modifying the mesh so as to create the chamfer or fillet in it

### "Good for Drawing Things"

February 28, 2021

5.0

It's an amazing 3d Drawing app that with version 7 consists of Nodes (grasshopper) and procedural design). Rhinos render is pretty and easy to use. Overall this program is worth every penny however it needs some time and build to be worth to use it on Industrial Enginering actively(over Solidworks).

Pros

Easy to use and lets you draw in 3d. Drawing splines, lines and 3d units in this program is a breeze. It consists typing in whatever command you like so you actively use keyboard on top of the mouse, it makes you really fast on giving commands.

Cons

Surface. It takes a lot of knowledge on quirks about this program otherwise you end up with an unusable surface pretty fast.

Alternatives considered

Reason for choosing Rhino 7

Easy to use and lets you give commands on keyboard. Also Fully 3d spline drawing is awesome, especially after solidworks. I suggest that this program to be used together with the others as Rhino has EVERY file format available to import and export including native ones.

### "The Rhino 6 3D modelling Software"

October 28, 2020

4.0

For animating it really made my work easier, and I love the fact that the rendering time was a lot quicker ham other Softwares out there.

Pros

Compared to most Softwares out the, Rhinos functionality and navigation is very easy. The smooth transition between work and Preview is phenomenal. It made animating a little less easy compared to other Softwares.

Cons

The pricing was a little to high I must say, which makes it difficult to recommend it to someone, especially if you're paying in USD and leaving in another country like myself. Granted the quality of the software has to be reflected by the price, but I still think it's a little steep.

### "Great for making Archicad objects"

December 5, 2019

5.0

The software has been invaluable for building curved ArchiCAD objects. This is important for us as we set out our sanitary ware in great detail and have to build a number of the less common products ourselves. we do not want the messy elevations produced by Sketchup triangulated models.

Pros

The software does not need to triangulate surfaces like Sketchup does which is useful for creating objects for use in Archicad when we don’t want lots of messy lines in elevation views of curved objects.

Cons

The software isn’t as intuitive as Sketchup and took some getting used to and online video tutorials.

### "Rhino 7 Ideal for Vector Graphics"

December 2, 2024

4.0

Rhino 7 have been proven to be useful in the workplace when it comes to converting designs into Illustrator, EPS and DXF files for Contractors to use. It is very easy to draw up or trace complicated designs through Rhino 7.

Pros

Converting 3D models to 2D lines or simply Drawing 2D Designs for Illustrator or DXF files is a useful and easy feature through Rhino 7. The "Make2D" functionality is very good feature.

Cons

Every element such as a window have to be individually drawn or modeled. Rhino 7 does not offer presets of walls, doors and windows. Can be quite time consuming when producing architectural drawings.

### "Great for beginners and experts alike"

September 30, 2022

5.0

Overall it was a great and easy program to learn. Amazing way to model buildings, jewelry and more.

Pros

The most impactful feature of rhino would have to be the tools provided which allow you to create any shapes and designs that you could possibly think of. This makes coming up with multiple renditions easy and fast.

Cons

Rendering capabilities still leave much to desire compared to other programs.

### "rhino"

January 14, 2022

5.0

overall for me Rhino is Considered one of a kind, it has great capabilities, fairly easy to start of with i would consider it a great modeling tool for designers, architects or even jewelry designers, i really like the idea of visual programming it gives me great opportunity to express my ideas in a very unique way, definitely recommend it for architects and designers.

Pros

\-starting of with rhino, comparing with its features I find it the program kind of easy to start with compared to other programs - grasshopper is a game changer for me, I like that anything can be modeled "it can go as far as your imagination" -huge forum support if you face any difficulties or questions -non ending number of very useful plugins can be easily added

Cons

\-grasshopper can be a very hard plugin to start practicing, specially for new users that are not familiar with working with data "visual programming or programming in general" -if the program gets complicated it gets really heavy and starts to lag no matter what are the specs of your PC

Very good, i have used it for more than 3 years and it is my go-to 3D cad software

Pros

Flexibility in design and modelling, very easy to integrate with other softwares in modelling or even rendering. Very good modelling features and tools, my most used is designing with rhino and grasshopper. It is very useful for both priliminary modelling and advanced. Very useful in parametric, geometric and similar design approaches. Ability to use same shortcuts from another softwares.

Cons

just the grid plane background color(s). sometimes it can be visually tiring after long hours

### "Easy to use, affordable"

June 12, 2020

5.0

I have been using Rhino for almost 10 years now. Between 2012 and 2013, I did exclusively 3D modeling for a toy/model company where I made complex 3D models in Rhino and exported them as STP files. These files were imported into Solidworks where the company's engineers would create molds for injection. I sometimes would also use Rhino to make corrections on 3D models originally created with Soildworks. The transactions between Rhino and Solidworks were very smooth.

Pros

Rhino's modeling logic is probably the best in the industry. It's easy to learn and easy to use. The files exported from Rhino can be imported by other software such as Solidworks with no problem. Works perfectly with Keyshot. Meanwhile, the price of Rhino is hard to beat.

Cons

It's quiet difficult to model soft goods or other Irregular objects with rhino; but that applies to most other 3D modeling software in the class.

### " Perfect for everything"

October 31, 2022

4.0

Pros

In this program I like the fact that I can model the project, but I can also draw on the fact that it is based on a technical drawing of this model. Rhino will provide the tools to accurately execute a project.

Cons

It is not smile. It is not intuitive, it is precise. You must provide specific values and commands.

### "Best 3D modeling learning-curve-to-capability ratio available"

December 10, 2019

4.0

Rhino is my go-to 3D modeling software. When I need good renderings, I export to Cinema4D, but for actual modeling, Rhino is great.

Pros

No 3D modeler is easy to learn, but Rhino is easier and more intuitive than most. It strikes a good middle-ground position between engineering/precision and flexibility/creativity. Each update of Rhino brings real improvements. A single license is good for both Windows and Mac versions (Thank you!). McNeel keeps building more of what used to be add-ons into the core application. With some software, that just seems to bloat things, but it doesn't with Rhino.

Cons

There are still frustrations with occasional failed procedures. (E.g., boolean operations, chamfers and fillets, etc.) They happen less frequently than with previous versions. And when a procedure fails, it's often hard to figure out why and you end up having to spend a lot of time trying various other paths to get to your desired end.

### "Easy modeling "

June 7, 2019

4.0

Pros

Very user friendly program. Easy to adapt and use after autocad. It’s a very popular and widely used software for shipbuilding.

Cons

For some angles and radius it is not that accurate like other 3d softwares. So it’s quite good for basic modelling but for detailed models and mechanism probably it is not enough.

### "Rhinoceros 3D Rendering"

May 9, 2019

4.0

Overall Rhino gets the job done and it good quality. Well worth the money to be able to produce clean renderings.

Pros

Program is relatively easy to learn. Renders quality 3D models. Many options for viewing your work, easy to manipulate, and simple clean user interface.

Cons

Not all tools are intuitive and you end up needing to find tutorials to figure out a fair amount of simple things. However, once you figure it out once it becomes a second nature process as things aren't over complicated.

Pros

I really like that there are a lot of plugins that can be installed, therefore there is a great range of alternatives and possibilities to design something. Once you get used to Rhino's platform you can make very fast operations with great results.

Cons

It takes some time to learn how to use it, it is not very intuitive, much practice is required before you will be able to do complex shapes. The Mac version is still not complete, that "forces" you to install it only on a Windows if you want to take advantage of all the features.
