Pros A great help for HR department and in my company mainly for time manamgement records for the employees. The range of projects that my client manage per year ranges from 60 project/year to 800 projects/year. The complexity of the project ranges from basic to very complex. I found Planview can adequately accommodate the range and complexity. Pros 1) Ease of use (learning curve is not steep if you practice regularly) 2) Contains all the elements required to completely manage your portfolios (identification, prioritization, benefit assessment) 3) Good if you want to customize your project lists (or programs). The system gives you many field to add any project features you need. This is especially good if you want to create a portfolio framework at the enterprise level. 4) Very good reporting capabilities and easy to learn and use. Cons The costing module requires a bit of knowledge. So before digging into this module spend time with your project costing team to learn the basics. Otherwise ensure to involve your Subject Matter Experts in project costing to set up this module. However they still have work to do. Adding documents to the project is cumbersome and time consuming. A drag and drop feature would be better and versioning is no longer available. The task enter has been modified but seeing the name of the task is to small they need to make it so you can resize the column. Entering resources on a project is time consuming as you need to enter in 2 places and then on each task. Over all the product is good but with further improvements it could be much better.
