### "Great product, some flaws"

September 16, 2021

4.0

Coming from landscape architecture student who frequently used AutoCAD for design, switching to DynaSCAPE was a step down. Having to learn a new program, it took some getting used to. Sure, workflow has improved dramatically since first use, however there are some things I miss from my previous favored program. On top of it all, I don't have a choice. It's DynaSCAPE or no job.

Pros

The program works well for folks that use AutoCAD.

Cons

Coming from an AutoCAD pro, I appreciate the Command Alias. It makes for a smooth workflow. Though there are built-in commands that are entirely unnecessary (such as zoom scrolling and panning) and commands that are very effective have to be built by hand (such as trimming, rotating, and mirroring). When it comes to exporting a plant picture catalogue, there can be improvements there. Upon the first screen after clicking the button, all plants are checked. In my office, we need to have plant types separated. I uncheck the boxes and go back to recheck the trees, shrubs, and evergreens. I finish that, then I make a separate page for grasses, perennials, and groundcovers. Also in this screen, it would be great if the plant names were listed by botanical name. I find it very odd that the plants are listed alphabetically by botanical name but listed as the common name.

### "Review of Dynascape"

September 24, 2021

5.0

Overall, I am happy with the software and appreciate the quality of the drawings produced.

Pros

I use the Design software mainly and love the quality of the drawings it produces.

Cons

I've been with Dynascape for years and wish there would be efforts made to create better commands and shortcuts in the design software. I came from CAD where there are lots of ways to easily change tools whereas in Dynascape, we have to manually click everything and it becomes daunting at times and impedes in the workflow. Also, I haven't seen any symbol/figures updates in the years I've had the software, it would be nice to see some additions. Also, coming from CAD and other software, there was a "jump" feature for lines that would allow you to set a distance from a point on a line to jump "X" distance. That would be nice to have. Also, over the years you see softare interface changing/evolving, Dynascape has remained the same, leaving it feeling outdated visually. That would make sense if we purchased a single version and never upgraded, but when we're paying monthly for upgrades, it's a different story.

### "I don't have enough time."

September 21, 2021

4.0

I really like the ability to upload a plant list from a nursery that I use with pricing to produce a priced out plant list for jobs. Saves me a lot of time and that is easy to send off for ordering as well.

Pros

I use DynaSCAPE Design by far the most because I just don't have the time to dig into the color and 3D as much as I would like to. It is a great, easy to use software that I feel is easy to stay fluent in. I wish they would add a few features to make it even more user friendly and improve the efficiency of use. (Snap to a line while holding the ortho setting!)

Cons

Please see above comment about the snaps. It is terrible to have to draw a line past an existing line to keep it in an ortho position and then trim it back to the line. I would love to be able to snap to the line and the line stay snapped ortho as well.

Reason for choosing DynaSCAPE

Touched on this product while attending Purdue University and liked its capabilities.

### "Dynascape Review"

September 16, 2021

3.0

Overall, Dynascape gets the job done and is fairly user freindly.

Pros

The library of plant symbols help to shorten design time.

Cons

There are several tools that similatr programs offer (AutoCAD) that I would expect Dynascape to offer. For example keyboard shortcuts (being able to type in the command in the comand bar rather than hunting the icon down. My particular version of Dynascape does not allow me to turn the "copy" command back on once it is turned off.

### "DysaSCAPE IS A SUPERIOR DESIGN PROGRAM"

September 16, 2021

5.0

I used Landscape Design Pro at a previous employer. I personally feel the features of Dynascape are far superior and easier to use. I will admit it took me a little while to "unlearn" some of the things I was accustomed to using in Landscape Design Pro, but once I caught on to the tools and features of Dynascape, I feel I have a much more powerful design program with many additional features.

Pros

One feature I like most about the software is the measuring tools. It's very quick and easy to calculate square footages on patios and walkways for estimating purposes. I also like using the new "uncluster" tool. It helps greatly reduce time in making revisions.

Cons

The most frustrating issue is when working with a design that has several elements / features, the program sometimes gets slow and indicates that it's "not responding"

### "Good for mid-level landscape design"

September 16, 2021

4.0

Pros

If you know CAD, it's easy to use. There's a good plant library and symbol library

Cons

Sometimes the measuring/area calculation tools don't consistently work. I wish rasters could be moved and manipulated easier. Wish there was a way to associate a symbol with a plant or rock so I didn't have to count everything by hand.

### "Digital Design"

September 18, 2021

4.0

It has been a challenging learning curve with some frustration, but it is a good product.

Pros

Creates a clean simple blueprint for conceptual planning

Cons

I started using Dynscape from its start date, there have been many glitches along the way and constant updating which has been frustrating at times. Interface with colour needs to be more user friendly and less tedious.

### "Dynascape Review"

September 20, 2021

4.0

Excellent

Pros

A powerful landscape design tool creating professional and detailed landscape plans that integrate with the estimating software making the design and bid process seamless. Plant database, ability to add color, and the ease of revisions make the design portion very effective and efficient. Estimating program is a fast and efficient tool for creating professional proposals with your mark-up and overhead built-in. Once learned you won't want to use any other program.

Cons

Certain aspects of the interactions between printers and other software are clunky and needlessly complicated. Customer service while very good is slow, usually, a day or so before they get back to you in a season that is a problem.

### "Quality software for drafting landscape designs"

September 16, 2021

5.0

Being able to produce drawings and make changes quickly it’s been a huge benefit of this program. It also looks very professional as opposed to hear and drawings.

Pros

The program is fairly easy to learn and it is much quicker than old-school hand drawings. Some of the commands are different from AutoCAD which gets some used to, but overall the ease of using this software has helped tremendously in producing quality plans.

Cons

There are some bugs that I run into every now and then. If I’m trying to copy large drawings into a new drawing or take part portions of a drawing into another drawing it sometimes will be too large for them this. Also occasionally I will run into an issue with the text or lines not been filled and I have to go in and manually change the setting on each line.

### "Refined Cad program "

September 16, 2021

5.0

DynaSCAPE is awesome, Cad can be overkill for a lot of the work we’re doing. This program is a perfect in between. Their video series makes it easy to train new people and get them up to speed

Pros

It’s very easy to build templates and pallets of plants to shorten design internally. The title block we built and the symbol combinations are clean and east to use

Cons

There are small features that SketchUp has that I wish I could use (shortcuts and control settings)

### "DynaSCAPE accelerates each phase of a landscape design-build project"

September 24, 2021

4.0

Revising plans was always a hassle in the past because we used to hand draw our designs. Now with DynaSCAPE we can revise plans very easily and very quickly. That has been the biggest improvement in our design process.

Pros

With all of the available recourses on the DynaSCAPE website, learning how to use the software was achievable in a reasonable timeframe. The software has helped accelerate all aspects of our design-build process, from creating conceptual designs for client presentations, collecting information to assist in the estimating process, and creating construction drawings for our field team.

Cons

The learning curve was more tough for those in our firm who do not have a design background.

### "Dynascape is a great product"

September 16, 2021

5.0

I have always had a good experience with Dynascape and have been a customer for 10+ years.

Pros

Easy to use, lots of features, produces high quality end products for clients.

Cons

It’s a great product but somewhat cost prohibitive for small operations that are only design based, as opposed to design-build, or that operate on a seasonal basis.

### "Low Maintenance Landscape Review"

October 7, 2021

4.0

We currently use the system to give clients a clear, professional view of our landscape proposals. We would like to expand into other DynaScape products, but cannot currently find the benefit to expand when additional software is almost too expensive for a small family owned and operated company.

Pros

Design is fairly easy. It's helpful to use the square footage calculator when doing estimates on materials. I also like the feature where you can create plant lists based on phases and have them divided in the Excel sheet too.

Cons

I wish the color set up mode was a little easier to work with. Sometimes, when copying and moving lines to create your color set up layer, the system will select more than one line, or sometimes it won't intelligently group lines together.

### "Excellent Product"

September 16, 2021

5.0

\- used for all design work for over 20 years. - easy to use quoting extensions. Though I no longer use any of the estimating or Project Management software it was good when I managed large crews.

Pros

Mostly Pros over cons. - easy to use once initial learning curve done - reasonably intuitive - excellent extension into supporting programs, colour, sketch up, etc -fantastic customer support

Cons

\- a few quirks that you need to get used to but as I have used it so long I don't really have a least. if i had to pick one it would be the limitations on the plant lists. But even that is minor as I can easily add items. - it is key that you have a computer that has enough computing power.

Reason for choosing DynaSCAPE

\- easier to use - had a excellent meeting with company representatives. -had a good 'feel' about the company and its objectives. - At the time it was reasonably affordable. It has increased in price since but still would be worth the investment.

### "Dynascape review"

October 5, 2021

5.0

Dynascape does make drawing designs fast and easy and enables me to present a professional finished plan to my clients.

Pros

While there is some learning curve to make the drawing aspects quick and easy to use it doesn't take the long. Revisions are made fast and simple because of the software.

Cons

It would be better if the software could be integrated into a CAD based program to make it easier to share designs with contractors. I have watched tutorials that seemed to include features that my version does not have which has been frustrating since I keep mine up to date. I have had difficulty with customer service not being able to solve issues with my subscription showing as inactive when it should be current and active.

### "Good product for landscape designers"

September 16, 2021

4.0

Overall, it's a good program for my needs. I'm able to build a landscape design, build 2D details for construction, resize things easily and use it for most of my installation plan needs.

Pros

I think dynascape is a fairly easy program to learn. Can be super detailed if necessary. Like the integration into the color program.

Cons

3D capabilities are a bit cumbersome compared to other 3D programs I have used. Price tag is a little on the high end as well.

### "Professional-looking Designs with Hand Rendered look"

September 16, 2021

5.0

Dynascape has helped me to provide my clients and installers with clear, well-labeled, and aesthetically pleasing designs to both help sell and install my designs.

Pros

My favorite part, and what impresses others the most, is the aesthetic of the final product, particularly with DynascapeColor.

Cons

There are a few clunky functions that I wish were simpler, from my experience with other design softwares. One of those things is the ability to add a vertex point to a poly line, without having to redraw the whole thing. This gets especially cumbersome when I have to redraw a large lawn or bed due to a small adjustment.

Alternatives considered

Reason for choosing DynaSCAPE

Since Dynascape is geared toward the landscaping industry, it is more tailored to meet my needs than a multipurpose design software.

### "Good and Bad"

September 29, 2021

4.0

Overall we've been a customer for more than 10 years. We would like to see more frequent updates to the software, and listening to consumer feedback. Most of the DS Design hasn't seen notable changes in the last 4-5 years, and some of these asks that we have are very common with other landscape design programs.

Pros

Can produce detailed construction plans, great 2-D color renderings, good variety of figures to place within drawings

Cons

Importing PDF's and scaling the plans. Once you move the scale changes and have to rescale. Not being able to easily input lengths when doing linework and creating baseplans/designs. Should be able to snap to a crossing line on the ortho (always have to click past, then change line location or trim). NEED hotkeys for commands. Add more to figure library (specifically plantings) Smooth Polylines and curves are often too tight. Editing Text labels after insertion. Color integration into a single program in the near future?

### "Perfect for Landscape Designers "

September 28, 2021

5.0

My designs are cleaner than hand drawing and edits are so much faster. I am able to charge more and the city permiting process is better because of the professional presentation.

Pros

I am so grateful that the software is specific to landscape design and that I don't have to learn so much more than I need (like on AutoCAD). It is extremely easy to set up a drawing and get started, modify vast array of templates and layer. This is an excellent product that also has built in features to make calculations for bidding faster. There are so many tutorials offered and classes through out the year that there is little room to fail.

Cons

Adding in pdf photos and scaling pdf imported drawings is difficult to get correct. Positioning logos in the title bar is awkward and difficult. Exporting the drawing to color and using color for hardscape materials is not intuitive and difficult for me.

### "Dynascape is very good software for the landscape industry."

September 16, 2021

5.0

I started using Dynascape after hand drawing for many years. My overall experience has been positive. I have used it for almost 4 years. The first year was a steep learning curve, but it became intuitive after getting used to it. An advantage to our business is that time spent on revisions is greatly decreased, which helps with time management.

Pros

Professional looking presentation to the client. Easy to email to client for review vs. hand drawn. Easy to do revisions, which saves time. Easy to do accurate take-offs for estimating, and dimension plans for install crews. Good figure catalog. DS Color is easy to use.

Cons

The instructions in the tutorials aren't always accurate, making it difficult to learn without support. There are some glitches that need to be fixed and improvements that could be made to the software.

Reason for choosing DynaSCAPE

It is already set up specifically for the landscape industry. Relative ease of learning. Availability of in-person training. CAD based. Professional appearance of presentation drawings.

### "Good but not always intuitive..."

September 24, 2021

The software is good and the customer service has been great as well. I would consider it the best, or certainly the top tier, of what is available... Even if it still has it's weaknesses.

Pros

Cons

### "Dynascape as a Design Software is fantastic"

September 28, 2021

4.0

I do absolutely Love Dynascape and have built my reputation on exceptional products through its abilities.

Pros

I have been a user for about 15 years. I absolutely love the ability to create precision drawings that are easily integrated into the field for actual construction. Labeling is easy and everything can quickly be organized into a spread sheet.

Cons

Though Dynascape integrates with Sketch-up, it would be great if the platform was a bit more user friendly for renderings. We find that it is far faster to design with other software when renderings are required.

Reason for choosing DynaSCAPE

We use VIP3D, Sketchup & Dynascape.

We recently implemented M360. One we were on board on began to understand it, some parts were truly a game changer. We’ve used the design aspect for years, but estimated via spreadsheet, which allowed for too many errors.

Pros

I like the overall work ability, layout options and quick change use of this product. I've been using the software for almost 15 years now and I'm really happy with it.

### "Taking the Leap!"

September 16, 2021

5.0

One of the biggest features is when there is a change in the plan, in the old model of hand drawing a change either eraser mess or a total redraw. Now it is extremely simple to make changes and get back to the client immediately.

Pros

What is really nice is the ability to make slight changes on a plan with little effort, also to give options easily. Another nice option, especially during the pandemic is the ease of communicating through email. You can email the plan and get immediate feedback from the client.

Cons

When we first started looking at Dynascapes, I found it intriguing but most intimidating, I had been hand drawing landscape plans for 37 years and you know what they say about teaching old dogs a new trick. It's a good thing that we acquired the program early in the offseason, this gave me the time to figure it out.
