### "Oracle is definitely one of the best implementations of RDBMS"

February 6, 2018

5.0

It is our main software work platform that we commercialize. We have been using this tool for more than 15 years.

Pros

Every Oracle job I have worked has had a solid proactive team that is well read on standards and best practices and has many years of experience. Oracle is definitely one of the best implementations of RDBMS. It manages memory very efficiently and can handle complex JOIN operations which easilly cripple MySQL and MsSQL. Oracle has a great Architecture, because it is very easy to organise different applications data very well. I think the best plus for me is the SQL Engine that Oracle possess, it is very advanced, making it the only database to operate a data warehouse! Running complex queries on Oracle is just easy.Other features like Materialized Views, PL/SQL e.t.c. make Oracle have value for money

Cons

Unintuitive performance tuning tools, and finicky optimizer. SQL\*Plus with a built-in tabular format output; useful for rows that span across many lines. No, Grid Control SQL Output just doesn't cut it; it's a static output of the entire table. It doesn't have the powerful SQL\*Plus commands.

### "A database to use if you have always used it and cannot fathom doing things differently"

May 24, 2018

3.0

I got a working database for my application from this software, but there could be so much more for that price using modern concepts.

Pros

Oracle Database aligns with the topics you learned in your Intro to Databases class. It has tables, columns, keys, indexes, triggers, and all the things you want to avoid in your modern applications.

Cons

It is big, resource-intensive, expensive, hard to maintain, hard to patch, unreliable, impossible to distribute without an equally cumbersome and expensive add-on, and it keeps your applications mired in the past.

### "Strong data base option with a high support price"

October 25, 2020

5.0

As a developer I have the experience to consume and create data models, nowadays you can use a vast of options in the market with less complexity and similar performance, still a good option for big companies.

Pros

One of the most powerful database environments, too many drivers for every programming language, you can access to an open version easily.

Cons

Poor support for the open version, hard to maintain for small companies, the learning curve could be high and complicate to read every detail about custom installations.

### "A reliable tool to store and access data"

February 25, 2021

5.0

Oracle is a powerful tool which allows me to organize my data and run daily and weekly procedures in an efficient and trustworthy manner. The integration with external visualization tools such as Spotfire is a crucial component as well. I would highly recommend this product.

Pros

Oracle provides an easy and powerful way to interact with data. Capabilities such as data dictionaries and indexes make it easy to optimize the performance of existing procedures, and the organization of schemas make finding and editing current stored tables and scripts intuitive. I transitioned to using Oracle from MySQL and it has been an easy transition. It also integrates seamlessly with Spotfire to enable dynamic visualizations and enables insight into business decisions.

Cons

The permissions granted to different departments and the access for different schemas can be confusing to navigate. I know that these permissions are enabled as a safety feature, but it is still frustrating to move through the ranks in order to enable certain accesses. The software also crashes occasionally, which was frustrating. If you are working on an already overtaxed system, be aware and save your work often in case of an unexpected closeout.

Pros

It performed well and managed large amounts of data efficiently.

Cons

The update process is very complicated. It was necessary to review the procedure well in advance. Just running the installer is not enough to update.

### "Simply the best"

August 23, 2018

5.0

Personally i use oracle database in our work environment with many applications. It stores and maintains huge database of any organization.

Pros

It provides us the transaction/data integrity and read consistency that lower down chances of data corruption. Most of real life business scenarios are taken care by it easily. It works with variety of applications and easily integrated.

Cons

Its deployement and maintenance requires expert level skills. Its license is very expensive. Difficult to diagnose performance issues over here.

### "Best commercial database in market"

September 25, 2018

5.0

In general, my experience was really great its a very mature product and with many options for growing.

Pros

There's a database version and feature for every need. For instance, my company started using Oracle Database Express Edition, right now we are using Oracle Database EE with RAC feature. The announced autonomous feature looks fantastic.

Cons

I had to think a lot to find something to like least and I have to say that I would like to have a standard feature for database performance without using Cloud Control.

### "It's the default JDE DB"

May 2, 2019

4.0

Been working as a JDE consultant for almost 5 years. As a DSI Infrastructure consultant, I have to integrate OracleDBs to MEP system DB and also when integrating MEP with JDE.

Pros

Oracle SQL syntax is my preferred one. Performance on relational DBs is good. No need to create a separate DB, you can use tablespaces. SQL Developer as OracleDB client is great. TNS names integration for third-party software is awesome.

Cons

Performance for simple solutions could be improved, but of couse it is not what this type of DBs is designed for.

### "Great RDMS but expensive"

March 4, 2022

5.0

Pros

I am used to PL/SQL syntax so I prefer it to other SQL dialects. The fact that Oracle drivers and tools are stable and widely used. That the free version of Oracle client SQL Developer is good enought for most use cases.

Cons

It is more expensive as alternative products. It doesn't come with IDE out of the box.

### "much less than I projected"

July 29, 2019

4.0

Pros

It is a powerful database engine, which is designed for large volumes of data. It has the classic functionalities of every top database engine.

Cons

It has a very high cost. It is not intended for small projects. incredibly it has a concept of sequences and has no autoincremental fields. It is really unusual to allow a bad programmer to use a sequence for several tables. beyond that that would be a bad development practice the biggest mistake is that the tool invites you to commit it

### "Magnificient Database Solution"

June 13, 2019

5.0

Pros

We have been using Oracle Databases more than 10 years in our critical databases. We are using 10, 11 and 12c versions on different projects. If you give Oracle Database lots of physical memory and fast SAN storage, you can get unbelievable performance results compared with other free db solutions. It is easy to manage with EM Console, too. Customer service and metalink support are also magnificent.

Cons

Only negative side is the price policy. It's an expensive solution.

### "RDBMS consolidado pero demasiado complejo"

May 3, 2022

4.0

Pros

Fiablilidad, potencia, rapidez. Producto muy estable

Cons

Complejidad de configuración y mantenimiento. Política de licenciamiento muy complicada

### "Buggy at times, but works well when no issues."

March 9, 2020

3.0

Pros

Oracle Databases for my work are extremely simplistic when it works properly. No extra bells & whistles, just simplistic database productivity for what I need it for.

Cons

I've experienced so many issues with buggy/laggy data-entry fields within the Oracle Database. It often glitches and breaks completely if you don't enter values and click a certain part of your screen before moving on to the next field. Often, this has resulted in frustration and lost time.

### "Effective, but not easy"

February 6, 2018

4.0

Organization and easy access to employee files and administration. Our yearly reviews are also through oracle.

Pros

This program has lots of different features and ways to organize, and pull specific data. I like that you can customize the reports, and the search features are easy to customize as well. I find that they provide a comprehensive list of all different information available on our employees.

Cons

The software is not intuitive and takes a lot of training to navigate and understand. Our managers are constantly confused, despite multiple training sessions, and the lack of intuitiveness in the menus can often be frustrating.

### "Solid DB"

July 26, 2019

5.0

Pros

Oracle has a lot going for their DB offerings. They have a good GUI that is loaded with all the right functions and features that it needs. It makes things a little easier to find and use than MS SQL Server in my experience.

Cons

Price, that is the hardest one to get past for most. Oracle isn't free but they offer a lot of support with their software which helps with how much it cost. Their software is also a bit on the slow side but not terribly bad.

### "Highly used enterprise-level Database"

December 8, 2017

5.0

Implemented IBM ECM solutions like FileNet on Oracle. Used in many custom applications. Used in migrating data from one repository to another. Created many sequences, stored procedures, etc

Pros

Fully SQL complaint. Provides High availability. Can handle a huge volume of data. Preferred by many customers. Provides good SQL developer tool to create and manage a database.

Cons

Cost is higher. Installation and creation of schema is bit complicated. Not a good fit for startups. Postgres can be used instead.

### "I'm a Senior Oracle Developer and I use to develop diferent kind of db objects "

May 16, 2018

5.0

Pros

The most I like about Oracle DB is a stable DB, easy to program objects (packages, procedures, functions, triggers, views) using pl/sql language, easy to create and mantein data base structures (tables, indexs, constraints) and it´s easy to access data using sql sentences (insert, update, delete)

Cons

The least I like about this is that every time you migrate to a new Oracle DB version you have to modify some DB programs ir order to adjust performance.

### "Enterprise level RDBMs; perhaps suitable for enterprises only"

April 25, 2021

4.0

Oracle is an old elephant that is recommended for large enterprise systems only. So I am satisfied with its performance in larger projects whereas it is not suitable for smaller projects. I use it only when its really needed. For smaller projects i go for MySQL etc.

Pros

Oracle has the advantages of being a mature and stable RDBMS with a lot of features. Unlike its open-source counterpart MySQL; it has better features for point in time recovery; performance and stability. It makes it suitable for Enterprise level projects where performance is a must alongside stability.

Cons

It's not easy to set up in a test environment and containers. Cloud-based setups for this are much expensive. Secondly, you need a lot of client software for backups and interaction with DBMS. Secondly, it overindulges when its about resources and starves other processes thus needing expensive servers with more resources.

### "Best Database “Oracle”"

March 17, 2020

5.0

I can say that it is the best database when I compare it with other databases.

Pros

To increase the performance, Oracle has some features as partitioning and compression. Also it secure the information with encryption technology.

Cons

Some features have additional license. So if you want to add additional features you pay more.

### "Oracle Database, one of your go-to secure database solutions"

April 11, 2024

5.0

We had trouble setting up the first Database, but whenever we started, creating tables could not be any better. It takes some time to perfect, but it's worth the time.

Pros

I think the most fantastic thing about Oracle Database is the capability of solving hard problems with simple solutions. We've faced a lot of troubles and it still gives a fair fight even to AI solutions, and it's awesome.

Cons

I think for sure the ease of use could be better, but with some addins and tools to support the everyday work, you can make this tool one of your best to deal with your data storing problems.

### "A powerful relational database"

May 16, 2023

4.0

Pros

I have used oracle database mainly because of its scalability and high performance and because of that, it can handle high transactional data. It supports ACID properties and SQL PL/SQL languages to perform operations. It supports data backup, security and data replication.

Cons

The cost and resource consumption is high.
