With a ton of easy to use features and reporting, it's allowed our firm to estimate, create, track, and bill out thousands of past and ongoing projects. The up to date time tracking and reporting has been fantastic for us and given us a true pulse on the business, as we track and communicate project progress with our clients and team. With major benefits and ease of use, we've now added it into another one of our businesses to provide the same successes. To me the system provides a ton of features and value at an affordable rate. Pros Great value for a ton of functionality Cons The only issue that I have with the system relates to the tasking, as it's different then our agency workflow. As an agency with over 17 years and 2000 projects under our belt, there was a concern that migrating to a new software package would be a disrupter to our business flow. This has not been the case whatsoever. In fact, the implementation of Function Point was seamless and, even in its infancy within our agency, we are already seeing improved workflows, visibility into projects, and increased billings as a result. From our account manager Jimmy to our on boarding consultant Isabel, the team at Function Point has gone above and beyond to make this process simple. I have no doubt that the outstanding support we have received from the Function Point team will continue and help our business grow into the future. Lastly, to comment on the platform itself, Function Point is an incredibly well thought out piece of software. It is very clear that the developers have a deep understanding of what goes on within the operations of a creative agency and the user interface clearly reflects this care and attention. We were able to get up and running with minimal stress and we will easily cover the cost of the software within the first 6 months due to the increased efficiency and visibility into project health. Pros There are many characteristics of FunctionPoint that I like but what I like most is that it is a very robust platform that allows our company to do many different tasks including creating estimates, invoices, jobs, and more. " June 18, 2018 4.0 Pros It is cloud based, easy to search, and simple interface for inputting time by task, or in the week;y view Cons No way to schedule a task or automatically assigning a task upon completion of a previous task. In other words a need for dependency task. Currently we use a single note for our developers, and designers to put there needs in. this note gets copied and sent to the client once a week. Since the same note is being edited by different people it sometime would get over written when saved. it would be nice to have an area where they could add a need to a list that has either a date or checkbox to indicate it has been fullfiled. and that need is saved as an individual item in a database. Cons Not incredibly intuitive to do much of anything except filling out time sheets with. Designer Design Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "This Has Changed Our Business" October 30, 2018 5.0 It has been amazing being able to do so many things with a customizable dashboard, easy to use program, etc. There is probably so much more to learn but what I have access to now is already great! Pros Function Point is a great tool where we put our time, our project notes, our client design briefs and more. It is a tool that we use every single day and we were able to get some clients to use it to send us design requests and they are able to put examples of a project so we can see what they need and we can send them drafts over FP. Cons On the timesheet, there is an actual hours over the estimates hours for each project but it goes away when you put in your hours once, so you need to open it up again in a new spot just to see where you are for hours. We have talked to them and they are fixing this right after they make changes to other parts of the site. Pros The software is so user friendly you can figure almost everything out yourself and if not they have a very helpful support team that will help you with your issue. Cons There are small issues that can get frustrating. Integration with QB is not the best. Invoices and expenses will export twice sometimes even though the export button was only clicked once. Also, FP is able to read QB to tell when an invoice has been paid, which is great, but will not automatically change a job status from Invoiced to Closed once the invoice is paid. I end up writing a lot of my tasks in a word doc instead because the visibility is easier than using the tool, and then go in after the fact and check off projects when I'm done. Pros I think that Function Point covers a wide breadth of project management tasks. I like that the timesheets are in the same place as projects, it makes it really easy to label tasks throughout the day. Cons I don't like the structure of Function Point. The projects are pretty broad and it's difficult to make subtasks for yourself to keep everything organized. It's also hard to see the status of other people's tasks in the same project. You can't just click into a parent task and see everything, you have to filter by their name and scan through their tasks. So the collaboration aspect is challenging. I haven't used any other tracking software so it's difficult to compare. I like the reliability of the platform though, as it never seems to be down which is important. Pros All in one place for timesheets, estimates and invoices. Cons Creating a quick estimate for a potential client can be cumbersome. If the deal doesn't close, then you have this client contact in the system which may not be useful, where adding and maintaining this client is not efficient. Pros I like that it is easy to navigate and find things quickly. I like how the interface is branded and the some of the reporting is great. Cons I wish you had better options on estimate sending- like tracking to see if they opened the email and housing the email in the job that you sent for estimate approval. you see your email when you have to send an invoice, but should be the same on estimating. -- I wish you had a better setup for jobs/estimate on annual budgets - with trying to keep the team on their monthly hours and then having monthly jobs... it gets boggled down with that many jobs.... I wish we could see how other agencies of our size have their function point organized.... It has been very helpful for our client services and accounting teams when exporting and sending invoices. Although it's not perfect, Function Point's integration with our accounting software makes our invoice delivery system much easier. Cons We are not aware of other integrations that Function Point offers for other software systems that we use, such as Slack, Google Calendar, Grow, Fathom, DocuSign/Adobe Sign, etc. Also, the reporting feature is under-utilized by our users because some reports require a program that can read XML files. Upgrading and adding new features would make FP even better, and because we've seen the software evolve, we wouldn't be surprised if new features are already in the works. It's not the most robust tool that I've used, but it gets what we need done. Pros This software adequately serves its function as our project management and billing tool. Well designed interface that's easy to navigate and customize per user role. Customer service is great and responsive. Serves its purpose well. Cons My biggest issue with the software to date has been the ability to customize toward our needs. i.e. more flexibility to run reports applicable to our business needs. That being said, its works great for what we pay. Another thing I'd like to see added to the functionality is an app that would allow our users to assign tasks via iPhone/Android. The fact that each person can organize the information available in a way that compliments their position is invaluable. This is certainly important when each person has a unique hand in the process and needs to view the workload differently. Cons I think it could benefit from a feature allowing individual companies to further edit and customize certain aspects of the program. Something as simple as removing unused tabs and paring down the options to only that company's essential needs. I feel like this would save time on each individual company's level and make the program more efficient. Cons The interface is less than appealing to the eye. It could be sleeker. Also, sometimes there are glitches. Like how you can't cancel when uploading a file if you start uploading the wrong one. September 8, 2017 5.0 Pros We love how intuitive the software is and easy to use. The people at the company are great, too, and the training and support is phenomenal. Couldn't recommend it enough...especially after having use a number of advertising software competitors that seem to market towards the accounting folks and have no CLUE how the rest of the agency really uses a project management tool. These people truly get what agencies need. Cons I wish that they had a media buying aspect to their software. Also the notifications are a bit complex and we get too many emails. But it's a small price to pay for all the other awesomeness of the software. The Company is always open to ideas and suggestions. Cons This is not so much about fp. as it is about the interface with QBO. After switching from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online, the User Interface was affected. Due to the limitations of QuickBooks Online, it affected the way we could use fp. and some of its' functions. One Example - QBO does not recognize Job #'s; fp. has figured out a work around, but it would be easier to be able to use Job's, as they are designed. This allows for cross-functional teams to work together through large tasks, and work individually and efficiently through the smaller tasks. Cons FuntionPoint does not allow for a separation between the billable hour, and the hour billed to the client. For example, if a task requires putting off other work, then a "rush charge" may be billed to the client. However, other than inflating billable hours, it is difficult to account for this time in FunctionPoint without creating a manual process for the billing/AR team. Chance for the full team to see what the estimated hours were versus what they spent so that they can be more accountable for sticking to the estimated hours on work orders. The ability to see what jobs we run over hours on so that we can raise the price or become more efficient in some way. Pros Estimated hours versus actual and showing profitability. Integrating timesheets with project management. Integration with QuickBooks. Number of reports you can pull. Onboarding and setup was great and so nice that we had a dedicated person to answer all questions that pop up. I loved that we drove the screen during implementation- great training technique. Cons Can be slow because it is cloud based- maybe a designated browser would help. Can be overwhelming with all the things you can accomplish- maybe the deployment team can help with a starting point and then what is good to add on over time as users become more comfortable. Training the staff is hard because there is no full handbook or complete user guide to give to the staff. It required a lot of my time as the Admin to understand the product so that I could setup and create training for the staff. It is not intuitive and some core features one would expect don't exist--so require a work-around. It has been more frustrating to use than we hoped, and we will be looking to replace it when we can. Pros We like having the basic documents all stored in one place--estimate, CB, invoice. Cons Rigid work processes Very difficult to use for projects that have open-ended costs and fixed costs combined--designed for one or the other, not both. Quickbooks integration has been very time-consuming and frustrating.
