I have had other antivirus programs that were installed on computers that I purchased but have always replaced them with Norton. Pros Norton's coverage of my network is extremely thorough. It is extremely easy to install and more reliable than you would ever expect. Cons I personally have never had any issues with Norton, so I do not see any cons at all. Very easy to navigate for virus scanning and removal. Cons The price is a little bit on the high side but there's always a sale on the program. Despite the high price; it's worth the buy as you can cover more than 5 devices depending on the chosen plan. Got tired of constant pop-up upsells. i cancelled and uninstalled on all devices. I got charged the renewal anyway. I cought it 6 months later. I asked to cancel/refund. They refused pro-rated refund of any kind. I had to use the chat twice and call twice before I got the final verdict. I will be paying for it 6 more months. Their policy is you can only cancel in the first 60-90 days to get refunded. After that, no more refunds are possible. What do you call it when someone takes money for a service they dont provide ? Pros it has adequate end point protection. It has several add-ons that you can use. Its well known and trusted. Cons Uses a lot of bandwidth. Constant upsells with additional software offerings. My norton was set up with a password protection so that it couldn't let someone access it and mess up firewall settings...etc... After FINALLY getting it through their head that I am NOT trying to change my password for online access, they advised me to use the "Removal Tool" after I wouldn't let them connect remotely to my computer due to client protected files in which I could be sued if something happened. So after 5 attempts of trying to use the tool in normal mode and safe mode, it still insisted on a password that was created to allow access to the software settings, thus failing to allow uninstalling. I requested to PLEASE just tell me what you were going to do remotely and I will follow along. NOPE, not happening!!!! Here is the thing!!! If Norton sees that your subscription needs renewing, they won't help you until you renew it. That's how they hold you ransom to staying with them. You can't uninstall it if you forget the password because they want you to reinstall it so as to allow you to get back on Norton and reset the password, which is where you have to renew your subscription. August 26, 2019 5.0 Overall, the experience has been fairly pleasant! the initial set-up is easy, you can set up when scans happen at any time of the day or night, and it's not too much of an inconvenience! I've had apps before like Avast where there's been constant pop-ups that aren't even helpful, and it's basically "ads" trying to get me to update to a high subscription package to get the best virus protection. Norton doesn't bug you like that, and let's you upgrade on your own free will. It runs in the background and sometimes you forget it's even there! There's hardly any notifications unless it's a malware issue or anything related to that, or idle scans. It's so nice! Pros Norton is always on top of everything. Even if you're not well-versed in everything that has to do with computers or the internet, Norton takes care of you and tells you if what you just downloaded is good or bad, if the web page you're on is good or bad, and also when your next scan is coming so you can prepare for it (i.e. closing down apps, software, etc. that you may need to save progress on). Cons Sometimes it "overthinks" downloads and websites. What I mean by this, is I could be on a site that's trusted, and any and all downloads are 100% clean. But it will still mark downloads and sites as dangerous and will either restrict access to them, or immediately delete a download. And sometimes it's downloads that take more than 10 minutes to complete that get automatically deleted, so it's like a waste of time waiting for it to download, only to find out Norton deleted it soon after. I downloaded the free trial and was really happy with how quickly I got my account set up and started using it. It would have taken me hours to try to find these files on my own, now it's easy. Cons Sometimes it can be a bit complex to use as there is no manual to navigate the program, for less tech-savvy people it may be a hindrance. I'd look at a situation, mostly on the user experience level ( affecting me on my device )and think timing is odd or proximity to the package expiration and random attack are quite close?We all have been there. And for a bit of time I'd make a connection that wasn't true. That is my largest dislike-the time involved to gain pure trust. But it does exist and is evident on all 3 levels of Norton plans. I used to dislike that this was the "promoted" option when getting a new self use item but not anymore. It has saved me many times and when not part of a company product or inclusion, it has always been easy to acquire on my own. I do think that while costs remain low that they could actually team up better with other software bundles or companies and give us even more freedom and less limitations. It's nice to know that as complex as the program is Norton has made it easy for even neophytes to use! Integration is easy. There was a time when I got a new computer that was loaded with a competing antivirus program and they didn't play that well together. I was able to clear out the other one in favor of Norton. So transition was pretty seamless. Cons So I have used this analogy before. I feel bad because I don't make full use of what Norton has to offer. It is like having an 18 wheel tractor trailer available but I only need to go to the corner store. Norton has so much more than I need to use, but it is nice to know that not only is it there, but it is powerful enough to do whatever I might ever need to call on it for. Not t too much impact on system performance during scans. Each package overlap features, with tune ups to get more protection, ajusted to your needs (from basic to premium). Norton can be set to go into 'silent mode', which reduces signature updates and user notifications whenever another program uses the full screen, graphics, as a game or movie would; it does something similar when you power up a PC after a long period of inactivity, postponing all but the most vital updates and letting you catch up on email and social obligations without slowdowns or interruptions. Regardless of which Norton antivirus product you get, you'll have protection against spyware, phishing emails and ransomware. Norton recently added the ability to stop nefarious changes to the system's Registry file, as well as an enhanced exploit blocker to stop potentially unwanted apps from being installed. The firewall available is easy to adjust and set rules for. May 9, 2018 5.0 Using Norton Security Suite i have the feeling that my PC is always protected, Also any applications i download from the web it will run an initial scan of that application before the installation is triggered, if the application is not a genuine application it will not install. I fee like my money is well spent on Norton Security Suite which i have been using for years now. I encourage users to use the software. Pros Norton Security Suite is one of the best security software in terms of protecting again attacks such as; malware, spyware, Trojans, and etc. Some of the features that i use day to day are; Performance Scan, which deleted registry items that not being used or old, deletes all browsing history for all browsers with one click, Backups-- I schedule monthly backups into norton's cloud storage, then there is frequent scans that Norton Security Suites starts automatically. The RAM space uses a lot for some reason with these security software. The Updates running automatically in the background with the need for me to actually open the software and click the update button physically. For The price of the software i am getting tons of features at my disposal to use. Cons The RAM space that Norton Security Suite uses i feel like most of the time my comp is running a little slower, such as opening applications and closing applications i see a lag, it is due to the fact that the Norton Security Suite is running in the back ground, but the slowness is just for a few minutes, which it could be that the updates are running in the background.
