I've tried out several anti-virus companies and it seems Norton has the best grip on the market. At my used car dealership we have about 8 company computers we use on a day to day basis and all of them have access to customer personal information. A few of our lenders require us to have a anti-virus on our computers and Norton was on the recommended list so we knew it was a good choice for our business. We have been virus free since installing and it blocks threats before they become a problem. Cons The big problem with Norton Antivirus is how long it takes to do updates and it slows down the computer when it's happening. Pros Norton security is an internet security software for businesses and private users. It is produced by Symantec which is considered one of the leaders in global cyber security. Some get confused what Norton Security is versus Norton Antivirus. Norton security is an internet suite that includes an antivirus, firewall, email filter, toolbar etc. If a business already has security software then one may not need Norton Security. On the other hand if your business computers don't have any internet security software then it would be highly recommended to have one, even Norton Security. The other part of Norton Security is that it is subscription based. You can purchase a yearly subscription from their website or places like Amazon. The cost for a yearly subscription via Symantec's website can sometimes be way too high, but I notice it fluctuates. If you buy a subscription off of Amazon, it can be cheaper at times. The next part of Norton Security is the quantity of computers you can put it on. Each subscription gives a limit of how many computers it can be on. Example would be 1 yr subscription on 5 devices or 1 yr subscription for 10 devices. Each has its own price tag so you have to consider if it is right for you. I used them for many years. I only had a few issues over several years so I can not complain. I would recommend it to people. It is effective is it against malware. Customer service is friendly and helpful. The price is not cheap but it does offer different packages. If you can live without certain features you can lower your cost. Pros Norton Antivirus software was my choice since the early 90s. It is a very popular choice. It has some excellent features including cloud backup and password manager. The most important feature of course is to detect viruses and filter out potential threats. Over the years this feature worked as it promised the majority of the time but I did have one scare with my email account. I was temporarily locked out and had to go through the hassle of proving my identity to restore my access to my own account. This whole situation was a result of a spammed email. I was faithful to Nortons for many years because it was a familiar and trusted name and the price was reasonable. Over time the price has increased significantly. I did ultimately change services because I felt that the scans were slowing down my computer. Cons I felt that the scans slowed down my computer. I don't remember this being the case initially but over time I began to notice this. I also had an issue where I was paying monthly but suddenly I was charged for an entire year at one time. I never agreed to change from the monthly payments to a one time pay in full option. I will say that customer service did take care of the issue immediately. Cons Speaking of VPN capability, it would be great if a user could choose a more specific location (rather than a country) within the software. When protection is discontinued for any reason, Norton lets me know so I can reset. This does not happen at work but it does happen at home when I don't use the computer for a while and the power maybe goes off. But when I restart, I get the warning and I go quickly and have it scan and "fix". Very easy to click a button and leave the work to Norton. Pros I appreciate Norton Security because it stays up to date with no worries. I have this service at work and at home and I know it is because I am offered this at no charge as part of my cable service, but I would buy it over other products when I had to purchase myself. It protects everything in one program. Cons I honestly don't have anything about this software I don't like but I guess the pop up messages about the same "warning" are a little irritating. It would be nice if there was a way to set it up to not give that particular warning repeatedly once it has made me aware.
