It has all the features that ensure a computer is fresh and clean from data breaches. However, It's heavy on computers and may cause lower-end PCs to suffer. Overall, great data protector for corporations or individuals. Pros Despite Norton's many features and options, my favorite feature is the VPN, which keeps my data and records secure and encrypted, allowing me to work in total security. It also provides the capability to get file fingerprints from trusted machines and add them to the permitted files list. Symantec Endpoint Protection works with Application and Device controls. It has a simple interface and gets regularly updated with virus definitions. And also the fact that I could allow specific folders pretty easily, plus I could disable certain notification permanently. Though some notification was not possible to remove. But still decent compared to alternatives. The VPN was unlimited in my purchase and it served it's purpose pretty well and was quite performant and accurate whenever used. Cons I did not like the activation method of the software. It was not user friendly and required a tutorial basically which was followed by new team members eventually as almost no one could activate it without knowing the tutorial. So I think the activation process would be very unappealing for the non tech savy individuals. We're a mid-sized manufacturing concern, so we have many sensitive files that need to be protected from outside snoopers. Pros Turnkey security software for your small or mid-sized organization. By the time you get larger, you'll want more comprehensive security software. It works well, has high levels of customization, and you can view the threats against which it's protecting on a daily basis. Cons Some users complain it's too restrictive and doesn't give them enough flexibility to complete their work, but we'd rather give software permissions on an ongoing basis than make it too lax up front. However, the commercial side of the company pushed me away. Pros It works across multiple operating systems as and the experience is quite similar. It does detect virus and it does its job. Support tends to be too automatic, but when you eventually talk to a human, usually in India, they do help and answer all your questions. Cons Norton is a selling and marketing company, and this shows so much. This is not bad per se, however every year when I had to renew, prices were 100% or more than the previous years; one year the price increase was over 200%. So, every 12 months I had to cancel my subscription, start with a new order and one year later, repeat the process. Pros Norton Security is extremely easy to use and has been my primary antivirus software on all of my personal computers and devices for over a decade. The program is effective in that it catches and secures threats quickly to avoid harm to my system. The scans are always thorough, and I appreciate that the software is easy to use, even for those who may sometimes struggle with advanced computer features. But the advanced features are present for any users who can take advantage of the program's capabilities. Cons My main issue is the length of time that the scan can take to complete. I understand that scanning hundreds of thousands of files can take time, but the program can be a bit heavy on system resources while it is carrying out the scan. Still, this is an issue with all antivirus software, so it is hardly a complaint. Every time I've called on the issues I have had with unauthorized billing, their customer service reps don't seem to be trained properly and don't seem to know what their doing. Most of the time I get off the phone with the customer service reps, I'm more confused than before I called them for help. I also think that they need to make their pricing way more affordable. There are too many 'a la carte' up charges, and they make their subscription options confusing. Pros I like that Norton gives me the ease of knowing that my devices are secured. This is obviously my main reason for using it. It's also nice that it also ensures that all downloads are safe as well as any incoming documents are safe and free of viruses. Cons It's WAY too expensive. I don't like how they up-charge everything. You think you're purchasing one thing, they get your credit card number, and then I've had problems with them charging me for things that I did not authorize. It makes me extremely hesitant to click on anything when I'm in my account, and I've had to call them about their continually charging my credit card a few times. That makes me nervous because they should only be charging for what you pay for, and you should always have the sense that you aren't going to be unexpectedly charged for something you never wanted. I have benefited greatly from this by having an antivirus to double check my pc never gets infected again. I have had much malware on my computer in the past, and with Norton, it feels like i have a physical shield. Pros The cleanup tool caught my eye best. I love how this had a free version, so I could really experience the feel of the software and get used to it, unlike other programs. The quarantine was a very importsnt feature so I could search up if a file was safe or not while i lay the virus to the side. Cons There arent many downsides to the software, other than the fact that it can be janky at first, maybe they can give you a tutorial before you start. As bad as a scammer. They are basically saying, if you want our product, give us your bank details and we will take what we want from your account. Duh! Pros I have no issues with the program itself. It works OK and seems to do the job. Cons The issue that I do have, is that the Norton organization behaves like scammers. Not good behavior for a company that is supposed to be protecting me against scammers, not scamming me. I have had Norton for several years now. The second year when it came up for renewal, I found that I could get the same Norton product brand new in a computer store for a lot less than what they wanted to charge me to renew. Needles to say, I bought the new product a loaded it myself. Next year, without my agreement or consent they just withdrew money from my bank account and didn't tell me they were doing it. Had to contact the bank to find out how much they withdrew. Much more than what I could have purchased it for myself. Now they are sending me messages that I need to tell them my bank details so they "automatically" renew this year by dipping into my account. My account details have changed since last year and they don't have the new details. Regular definition updates make sure that even the latest viruses can't make their way into your system along with the tune-up tools that are extremely useful. Cons It sometimes require supervision; there is no argument to hoe great this anti-virus software is but maybe it's not that great as sometimes you will have to help by pointing the software in the direction of malwares it had missed probably due to an oversight on the part of the developers. It is less convenient when you have to check everytime to see if truly your antivirus software blocked the threat it notified you about or not, this singular act put personal computers and files at a risk. Cost; this is one of the few downsides on my part, after the 30 days free trial for most personal computer owners, there's need to subscribe to a protection plan which isn't all that bad as the parent company is in business to make profits and not friends but there are free alternatives out there that can perform the same or supercede Norton's functionality. Norton does offer the ability to check your website's security before entering with a green marker for the passing site and a red marker for a dangerous site. Normally Norton automatically doesn't allow you to pass through red marked sites without you selecting the button at the bottom of the screen. I kept cleaning my device with the scanner and Norton had not found things that another provider in security software for free had found for me, that was slowing down my PC.
