I wanted something easy to use and affordable. I chose Palm~tech and have never looked back. I have been using then since day one and they have been great. Everything from customer support to software updates I have been very happy. The software is easy to use and change to my own specifications. Cons None really , the software is so comprehensive and keep updating regularly. However , I was more comfortable with version 8 than 9. Decent software before they forced you to upgrade to the new version. I am totally disgusted with this company!!!! Pros The old version worked well but very basic. Palm Tech Complete has some nice features the old version didn't have. Cons Palm Tech Complete has so many problems, they fix one and 10 other issues arise. Same old BS when you call for support-we are working on it.... We used Galaxy tablets with the old version that worked pretty good, then we were forced to buy PT Complete, The Galaxy Tablets wouldnt work with the new software so we were forced into buying Apple Mini tablets and we have had so many problems with them also. They did not Beta Test this software before forcing it on us. I am not going to waste my time going through all of the problems with this garbage. Then to top it off, I get an email from them telling me our software license was up for renewal and they were billing our credit card on the renewal date. I told them no way do i want to be charged until we get the issues fixed. Well they went ahead and billed us anyway and I have been trying to get this resolved for over a month with no response. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY... You will regret it. I have had great conversations with different tech support personnel and always had my issues resolved. Some issues were resolved immediately. Pros I love the ability to tailor make home inspection templates. I have realtors who want the wording done in a way that is legal but also in such a way that it doesn't scare clients off. That way my reports are custom to each client. Cons The learning curve for me at first was a little difficult. But with a little help from tech support the reporting became much easier. I have had opportunity to try other software and Palmtech just makes my life easy. Pros My clients and realtors absolutely love the the visual on the report. They are so impressed with the interactive build list button and the overall layout of the report. Also, Palmtech IT support staff addresses and answers my questions and concerns quickly and professionally Cons I would have to say that when updates are pushed and features that I like to use disappear. An example would be the magnification box that was available on the photo edit being removed. I have had feedback from clients asking for me to change the date due to this is the wrong format which I cannot do on the report is this is in a format relating to USA. I have been using PALM-TECH nine for over 6 to 8 years and can’t believe that the new software cannot be adaptable Pros This software is no good for NewZealand inspectors due to the date format and this can not be changed on the report template Cons No to much to say really, just disappointed that the software isn’t user-friendly and that can be changed does not seem to want to have much to do about it so my opinion, the software is not at this stage able to be used in New Zealand Review Source Response from Porch Group July 9, 2025 Thank you for taking time to share your concerns, John. It also has taken away the issues we have seen with Windows updates that sometimes can break the software. We have been able to add so many new features that have been requested by many inspectors over the years and partnering with ISN has allowed us to improve the software and offer new capabilities and resources. September 10, 2025 3.0 Pros I like how fluid it was with your agreement, invoicing and report. Upgraded mobile app works much better than Palm tech 9. Cons The ability to add components like the chimney in the roofing category. Seems to be difficult. I have to add every line. Unlike the present add button from Palm tech 9. Slows down my inspection. Owner Real Estate Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Untrustworthy Company" December 13, 2024 1.0 I purchased my original Palm-Tech software in 2014 and upgraded to Version 9 around 2021/22. What I didn't know about at the time was the purchase of Palm Tech by the Porch Group. That is when Palm-Tech went from a good company, with a solid easy to use product and outstanding client support, to a miserable, profits are everything, users beware company. They use all of "in" company words and phrases, "we understand your frustration", "we share your concern", "we apologize for the inconvenience", but to this company, these are all just meaningless words. In one Palm Tech response to a user review, they actually compared themselves and their new pay each month policy to Microsoft and the way they upgrade to a new version of Windows. While Microsoft eventually drops their support of say Windows 7, it is still a fully functional product. This IS NOT an apples-to-apples comparison, because Microsoft leaves its users with a FULLY functional software, Palm Tech does not! Palm Tech has left its users with a crippled product that functionally, is not remotely like the software product we purchased. Now, you call their support team about this issue, and you get a different reason for the problem each time you contact them. Or they simply state that they are not going to fix the problem, but you can use their new software and pay $50 per month forever and that will probably increase in the future. Save your money and secure your inspection software with a rupturable company and be aware, that ISN is also owned by the porch Group and is a sister company to Palm Tech. Pros The simplicity of the old versions, their customer support and paying once for the software. Cons They cannot be trusted, and profits are now their number one priority. Cons Poor simple customizations of templates. Adding page breaks and blank lines does not function. The General information page can't be modified to have the screen text match what is printed. I came into the digital age of report writing kicking and screaming six years ago. I originally purchased other reporting software but it was too complicated and if I have a hard time understanding a report then how can a buyer or agent understand it? Many of my competitors use other formats that have so much filler and disclaimer after disclaimer that I can't even stand to read them. I love the simple just the facts capability of Palm Tech and all of my clients and agents love it too. But if you like disclaimers and fluff you can add that too. I can (relatively) quickly add and remove items in the field Cons Kinda clunky. Owner Construction Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Home inspections" February 23, 2017 4.0 I don't know if it does this, but I have had realtors and clients ask if I could write up a summary of things that need attention or fixed. So I think it would be nice if at the end of the report there's a page where you can write a summary of the items that need to be addressed and the pictures would show up and a little info would be under each picture. You could have a setting where you click on all the areas that need to be addressed and they would move to the summary page and have the information underneath each picture. Used the software for: ### "Palm tech Rocks!" March 4, 2017 5.0 I have been using the Palm Tech software since about 2003, I reviewed many and went for this one. Glad I did! I can do my full reports, including emailing them onsite! All I have to do is cash the check, unless the pay with a credit card. Love not being tied down at night. A couple local inspectors where using 3-D and they didn't like the product, I told them I really like Palm Tech, they took my word and have been happily using it since. Pros Version 7 & 9 are easy to use and buyers think they are very easy to understand. Cons When I bought Palm Tech 7. I paid for it and was informed it was mine to use forever. After over 10 years of use palm tech discontinued support of it and I bought “Complete and hated it, finally was told I could download version 9 but would still have to pay the monthly fee. I don’t think I should have to pay a monthly fee for something I purchased and was told I could use it forever. But change is not always bad once you adjust. You can save so much time and energy running your business and creating reports with Palmtech Complete. Version 7 was released when older Windows operating systems were still being used, it was a one-time purchase that you could use for as long as it kept working. Unfortunately, the infrastructure supporting version 7 was not up to modern security standards, and we had to shut it down. Tech support tries but it is very slow process and majority of time you have to leave a message you cannot talk to someone. When I call I get to talk to a real person or leave a message and they call me right back Pros I really like the features ( Credit card and accounting feature, All my pictures are saved in the media library so I can add them if I need to revise my report ) Cons It took my a while to get the software figured out ( I'm not the most computer savvy person for sure ) But the more I use it the more I like it.
