" February 22, 2018 4.0 Makes my job and life much easier. It only takes a few minutes to look up almost any information. Pros I love the integration between the contributions database and the Fund Accounting. I like the constant improvements the developers make. Cons The biggest challenge is to have every report you would like. However, Icon is always working too add reports when requested. It has all the church needs for accounting purposes. Anytime I have called and talked with Icon has been a very helpful and great experience Pros Our Church has been using Icon for about 5 years now but I just started in my roll of financial director for 8 months. This software has been very easy and user friendly to learn. I have had to use this with almost no training and i have been able to navigate with ease. I haven been able to use some of the resources on the site to answer questions Cons I am still learning so I can’t say I have a least part yet. Finance Chair Religious Institutions Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Finance Chair " May 30, 2019 5.0 It is wonderful to be able to print out multiple monthly reports for the board members or committee chairs. Pros It is easy once you get past the learning curve. There are a lot of report choices. The "search for help/answers" feature is excellent: I can almost always solve my problems with this quick feature. Cons It is a bear if you make a mistake. It takes a while to get comfortable with the program, which makes it tough to encourage new or multiple users. But, it is a great program once you learn it. There are way more valuable features than we need for our small church, so I imaging that it would be extremely useful for a larger organization. Budgets are easy to establish and change. Reports cover all my needs. The system does not let you post if not in balance. Easy to establish accounts. Expense line items can be used across all funds. Can tie an expense account to a specific vendor such as garbage to garbage provider. Cons Journal entries can be cumbersome. Have to identify savings account as checking account to get it to report fund balance by checking account report. I have money in savings from a multitude of funds. I was expecting more/better explanation of setting up accounts and that whole thought process and it probably has gotten better since I started. Cons Being able to customize your own reports. Cons The tutorials are out dated, so getting set up took a little longer than I anticipated. Great software for the money. Pros This software is very easy to use. Good Fund Accounting. Good ability to retrieve transactions and correct mistakes. Excellent 800# support. Cons Transaction ID protocol could be be improved so the initial ID# can have a root-capability in say, contributions so transactions can be tracked/identified all the way to the GL Detail. Reporting could use some improvement: provide hyperlinks and options for custom summary reporting - without adding the complexity of something like Crystal Reports. Options for displaying in whole dollars. Add option to display revs/expenses summarized by Department (so add account coding capability to make departments). Maybe add on-the-fly option to add new accounts/funds when doing journal entries. Add hyperlinks to Help sections. Admin Non-Profit Organization Management Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Fits all needs" May 24, 2019 5.0 Pros Icon has allowed our church to keep all of our finances in a synced location that is accessible to multiple users. From taxes to weekly giving to payroll, Icon allows us to keep our accounts up to date and easy to access. I love that we can pull up any payroll, bank deposit, fund transfer, etc,. at any time. Cons My biggest issue with Icon is the lack on confirmation notifications after posting. Whether it is an account transfer or a credit card payment distribution, it would be nice to see a notification that the work has been completed. And it's accessible from any computer. System is user friendly too. Taxes owing is easy to use. Cons Payroll is a little difficult to initially set up. I am pretty computer savvy and can navigate my way through most programs, but my co-workers struggle and don't find this very user friendly. Pros Having financing and membership in one place is a huge plus. We researched other plans and most don't combine and both and the ones that do, are significantly more expensive. Churches and agencies with small volunteer staffs will appreciate the help available for accounting issues, online availability from home offices, regular backups and software updates. Pros I especially like the payroll option, the ease of printing checks and the reports which help make submitting payroll taxes and forms very easy. I really like the fact I can call a local number for support. I have found them to be very helpful and pleasant to work with. Cons I think the program is a little hard to use at the beginning, but once familiar with it, it is very easy to navigate around. Exporting data for cost analysis is also easy to work with. Cons No search option when looking for a check instead of scrolling through many transactions to finally get to the check you've been searching for. Puzzled why $$ amounts show up on a Revenue and Expense report and yet these same $$ do not show up on a balance sheet. Also the system is very easy to use for check writing, changing information when needed, and looking up information. Cons I had an issue with entering information and the first representative could not help me. The second person I discussed the issue with did give me some advice that made the process much easier. Pros Very user friendly and your support staff is excellent! Cons Because we are a church I don't get to see your entire work. It's not like an office where you see your colleagues on a daily basis. It would be great if areas that you cannot use for Fund accounting could be greyed out or be turned off so you wouldn't use that section by accident. February 22, 2018 5.0 There are so many options for reports that we are easily able to provide our Council and all our ministry teams with comprehensive, accurate reports every month. Pros I have never used any other church software, but this is so user friendly that anyone could use it. Cons I would like the Payroll module to track vacation and sick time so we don't have to have a separate excel spreadsheet for payroll. Also, the information is stored electronically and easily accessible. Pros Several different modules available within the software allow for numerous options to complete accounting,payroll, and reporting tasks.
