Pros

I liked the fact that it made images scanned to PDFs editable, but unfortunately the text was all over the page that it required a LOT of time to make the document resemble the original.

Cons

However, the quality was so poor, it was basically useless. The formatting was off with random lines all over the page; the extracted letters were of various font types and sizes for the same word, not to mention the typos and lack of similarity to the original file.

It really helps me with my research and with editing PDF files. I can search for citations or key terms not only within the document, but also using the search engine on my laptop.

Pros

I can convert an image into searchable text, which offers several advantages. One of them is the ability to identify keywords in a document or highlight key terms.

Cons

It isn't very compatible with the Mac operating system. The interface is a bit outdated. Also, the output quality of images converted to PDF could be better.

I have being using ABBYY FineReader for a number of years even though it is not a cheap product with an annual fee. Overall I like the product, and will continue to use it.

Pros

The OCR capabilities are very good, supporting multiple languages in different alphabets. The ability to add custom dictionaries, such as for scientific names. The ability to make edit the image prior to processing. The ability to save a searchable PDF document. Customer support I have used a couple of times has been helpful.

Cons

Analysis of the image prior to OCR, sometimes needs manually correcting, even very similar pages can be interrupted differently. It would be nice to save options and personal dictionaries, so that they are not lost between re-installation or moving between computers. Annoying, when inputting multiple images, the order is reversed for first input, and correct for all subsequent inputs.

My overall experience has been very positive. I work with PDFs regularly, and FineReader helps me get through everyday tasks faster while still having the tools I need for larger, more complex projects. There’s a bit to learn because it does so much, but the time savings have been worth it.

Pros

What I like most is how fast it is while still offering a wide range of tools. It saves me time on everyday PDF tasks and can handle the more complex projects I work on.

Cons

I don’t have a major complaint. There are a lot of features, so it can take a little time to learn the tools you don’t use every day.

excellent software I use it every day. I use it in particular writing medical legal opinions when I need to scan large body of evidence extracted from medical electronic files

It is user-friendly, fast, and reliable, with equally clear support in both English and Hebrew, too.

Cons

So far, I haven't found any drawbacks in the software abbyy ; it has been easy to use and reliable to date

Es ist das beste Tool seiner Art. Das Programm erkennt zwei Seiten auf einer A4 Seite und trennt die dann zu je einer Seite, was sehr hilfreich ist.

Pros

Dokumentenscanning ist ein sehr professionelles und leistungsstarkes Tool. Ich benutze es oft zur Dokumenten-Erkennung.

Cons

Es ist nicht gerade billig, aber sehr gut in der Leistung. Manchmal startet es nicht gleich und sagt, es findet nicht den Lizenzservice.

The ultimate program for people who want to turn their physical books into ePubs of PDFs. It provides the perfect workflow and an OCR which is unbeatable.

Pros

I've been using Abbyy Finereader PDF (and its predecessors) for years now and for me it's the only serious application voor scanning my books and turning them into ePubs. The workflow is clear and the OCR is almost flawless. I've used the program to transform more than 100 physical books into ePubs, which means about 20.000 pages. I really love this program.

Cons

I would like to be able to have a list of words which often get recognised wrong to be automatically changed to the correct word. And I wish there was a serious version for MacOS with the same OCR editor as the Windows version.

I find ABBYY FineReader PDF to be an outstanding product. It is reliable, easy to use and quite affordable.

Pros

It is very easy to compare, convert or manage documents. Originally acquired ABBYY FineReader to convert and OCR pdfs before Adobe improved their product, but have stayed with ABBYY because it simpler to use and more economical than the competition. It does everything that I need without the extra bells and whistles.

Cons

I have no issues with the current product. I used to be a heavy user/ editor of pdfs and had some issues with the previous version's GUI but the current product is much more user friendly.

My overall experience with FineReader has been great. When my Adobe Acrobat subscription expired, I needed something more capable than the free PDF tools I was using. FineReader let me continue my PDF work without much disruption, and its OCR has been especially useful. I’ve been very satisfied with the switch.

Pros

I like FineReader a lot. The biggest feature for me is the OCR. You can get into detail with it, and it does a really, really good job. It also has the editing features I used in Adobe Acrobat, like highlighting and adding notes, so I can do most, if not all, of the same PDF work. It’s much more affordable than Adobe Acrobat, and it’s a great product.

Cons

It took me a little time to get used to FineReader after using Adobe Acrobat, but I haven’t run into any significant drawbacks.
