Pros: It has a lot of features and it is a SaaS platform so you don't have to worry about maintaining infrastructure.

Cons: It requires significant development resources on the client's end to maintain it. Demandware developers are difficult to find and are very expensive. Also, the platform does a very poor job when it comes to dynamic content. There is no easy was for a non-developer who is familiar with things like HTML and CSS to make basic changes to content like hero banners or product content, etc.

Pros: cloud technology

software and SFC people focused to drive more money in the ecommerce

Cons: the customer service is quite simple, I know that they are working to a new one and they will soon release.

Overall: I used it in several ecommerce projects and overall the platform is great.
The Business manager interfaces is very simple and easy to use for the merchant.
Also the backend is rich of functionalities for example there are several rules to create a promotion.
It is a cloud platform so you don't need to care of all sys admin stuff and every few months there are new functionalities available on the platform.
Recently Demandware has been acquired by Salesforce, becoming salesforce commerce cloud so I'm expecting even more functionalities to be added in coming months and more integrations also with Salesforce CRM.

Recommendations to other buyers: it is a great software for customer looking at an enterprise solution for ecommerce
