Has a lot of the carriers we work with. Pros It is easy to use and it makes sense when trying to figure it out. It is nice to go to one place for our insurance info. Cons Unfortunately, it is not a one stop shop for us. We have to go to another place to get some of our claims info. It would be helpful if I could search Cigna and United plans so it was a one stop for searches. Pros Makes it very easy to search multiple Insurance Plans. I like that it saves clients so I can go back to look them up when verifying monthly. The Website is very organized. Cons Too many places to search for Remits and Authorizations. I have been using it since I first started practicing 7 years and continue to use it to this day. Pros Availity is great value for money since it is free to providers. It is a great site that provides real time insurance eligibility and benefits information for most insurance carriers. You can submit and keep track of health claims. You can also keep track of all the claims data on availity. Cons There is a bit of a learning curve with using Availity. They do provide lots of informational videos and one on one training however. I am old school. I like having a phone number to call and then speak with a live person! July 14, 2025 4.0 Overall, Availity is great. We use it daily and I like that you can chat with most payers and usually get more information that way. I really like the ease of submitting authorizations and referrals. I like that it's quick and easy to access eligibility and benefits, even if a patient is standing right in front of you. It outlines them fairly easy to read. This is a great portal compared to others and I really enjoy using it. Pros Availity is a great portal, for the most part. I like how easy it is to access eligibility and benefits, claims, referrals and even submit prior auth. Cons I am not a fan of creating a new password, what feels like every two months, but it is good to have extra protection I suppose. I also don't like that with Aetna, we cannot access acupuncture benefits and always have to call. They tell us to refer to the portal on the phone but how are we supposed to when the information is lacking. There are things they can work on (making it easier to get to certain portals), but I think there is more good than bad with this site. Pros Intuitive dashboard that changes as you use features. Very user friendly, customer service is very easy to reach via chat. Cons The worst part of using Availity is having to clear my cache and cookies every time I access the BCBS portal from their site. Unfortunately, the representatives have not been very helpful. Out of multiple attempts, I’ve only been successful twice in obtaining a prior authorization for one of our patients. There has been little to no guidance provided on how to resolve issues, which makes the process more challenging. Overall, it has been useful for retrieving benefit and payment information, though there's still room for improvement. Pros It's incredibly convenient to have multiple insurance companies available on a single online platform, eliminating the need to spend time waiting on the phone. Generally, accessing benefit and payment information is quick and straightforward. Cons Customer support could be improved, as responses to online inquiries are often delayed, and phone support can be inconsistent. The website’s learning curve is steep due to its extensive features and at times unintuitive navigation. While Availity is valuable for accessing client benefit information, the process would be much more efficient with fewer required details. Often, clients don’t provide their insurance number, or it's recorded incorrectly, so having the option to search by name and date of birth would be a helpful enhancement. Additionally, allowing us to maintain a client list for easier access to benefits would save time by eliminating the need to re-enter client details. Review Source CB Casey B. But as an amateur biller, it can be daunting to figure some things out. They have a lot of tutorials, however. Pros Generally, as a non-professional biller, I can bill fairly easily. Cons Hard to get questions answered by real person. After submitting claims, I can only see limited data, so if the claim does not go through at insurance company, I can’t review it readily. They've added a tremendous number of insurance companies over the past 3 years in particular and I suspect we'll find that as Availity builds out their back end product many more smaller insurance companies will turn to Availity. Unfortunately the data presented is only as good as what the insurance companies provide so in many cases Availity can't replace a phone call. Pros Access to a large number of insurance companies eligibility and benefit information. Integrated claims review/status system. Preauthorization system works well. They listen to their users requests and feedback. They revamped one module to make it "responsive" and made it harder, not easier to use. They listened and rather than rolling back the changes, incorporated them in a new version. Cons The different modules could fit/work together better. (although I will admit they are making improvements). Their system doesn't handle many different tax IDs/providers well and has the platform has grown, the red tape and "authorization" bloat makes it difficult/time consuming for 3rd party billers. As a daily user, I'm frustrated with the amount of "white space" between entry fields which requires alot of scrolling. I also am not fond of their new EOB format. It is consistent between carrier and is not print friendly. I have never needed customer service and it allows you to update your provider through the system by sending reminders and even shows you in the announcement section. The experience is a good one and I would recommend this to anyone. Pros I love this software. Availity is easy to navigate and answers all of your questions under one roof. It is very easy to use and has limited hangups. You can find EOBs, Patient insurance information, documents, informational documents, announcements, and corrections to the facility in which you are registered. There are many ways to find your patients information and if claims were paid. Although we haven't extended out to all of the payors, the ones we do have on file and within the pay spacers, we can find them all. The information is easy to print for patient folders and everything is up to date. Cons I have problems often logging in, not because the system can't find me but because when you hit the log in button, it will hesitate or you will have to hit it a couple of times for the system to log in. It is convenient to be able to check benefits from multiple insurance companies in one place. Customer service has been good when needed. Pros Availity allows you to check patient insurance benefits for multiple insurance companies. It is convenient to be able to check the majority of benefits in one place. One of my favorite features is the ability to add patients into the system so you don't have to re-enter their information every time you need to check benefits. Cons Availity doesn't always provide the necessary benefit information. We often have to call the insurance company to get the necessary details. Sometimes the benefit information provided on Availity is different from the information given over the phone. And best of all, it's free! We have used Availity for years, and plan to continue for many years to come. Pros This website allows a variety of necessary functions for any medical practice.
