My experience has been good overall. Easy to use for the most part. Has a lot of the carriers we work with.

Pros

It is easy to use and it makes sense when trying to figure it out. It is nice to go to one place for our insurance info.

Cons

Unfortunately, it is not a one stop shop for us. We have to go to another place to get some of our claims info.

### "Availity-A good tool for Health Insurance Lookup"

I like Availity and the way it's organized better than other Insurance lookup portals. It would be helpful if I could search Cigna and United plans so it was a one stop for searches.

Pros

Makes it very easy to search multiple Insurance Plans. I like that it saves clients so I can go back to look them up when verifying monthly. The Website is very organized.

Cons

Too many places to search for Remits and Authorizations. I wish it would let you search by HPT code for all payers.

My overall experience was great. Customer support, security, and claim management were all what was expected.

Pros

It did a great job with patient eligibility and claim management. It was very user friendly with navigating between different payer spaces. I also felt it was very secure

Cons

It's EOB and remittance viewer was always more difficult than it needed to be. I felt that finding certain payments took longer than it should have

### "Nightmare on Availity "

Pros

I’d like to share some concerns about my experience with the call center. Unfortunately, the representatives have not been very helpful. Out of multiple attempts, I’ve only been successful twice in obtaining a prior authorization for one of our patients. There has been little to no guidance provided on how to resolve issues, which makes the process more challenging. Additionally, the wait times are extremely long I have personally waited over three hours just to receive a response on a request.

Overall my experience with Availity has been great. I have been using it since I first started practicing 7 years and continue to use it to this day.

Pros

Availity is great value for money since it is free to providers. It is a great site that provides real time insurance eligibility and benefits information for most insurance carriers. You can submit and keep track of health claims. You can also keep track of all the claims data on availity.

Cons

There is a bit of a learning curve with using Availity. They do provide lots of informational videos and one on one training however.

Did not like using so found a different billing platform that much easier to use and met my needs better.

Pros

Online accounting of claims submitted, payment received. Includes what insurance paid and what copay client owes. Good for benefit checks.

Cons

No live person to call and speak with. I am old school. I like having a phone number to call and then speak with a live person!

Pros

My favorite thing about availity is how easy it is to run insurance eligibility and submit for prior authorization.

Cons

My least favorite thing about availity is how much the premium account costs. I feel like it should cost just maybe not as much.

Overall I am highly satisfied with Availity and I am usually able to use all of my self-service tools to complete my tasks. This allows me to not spend a long time on the phone with Customer Service.

Pros

I like that I am able to access several Insurance Companies portals in on one platform, as I am using it for Billing/Claims/Eligibility for our clients.

Cons

Not all functions are available for all Lines of Business. It is limited in the area of Pre-Authorizations and I am unable to view Authorizations for several lines of Business at this time.

Pros

Availity is my one stop location for 75% of the insurance companies I work with. It has the ability to search for claims, add practitioners to my existing networks, etc. It is great to have all of that in one place.

Cons

Availity's interface and functionality requires a major learning curve. It is a difficult site to navigate. After using it for almost a year, I am learning more ways to navigate faster, however, I still find myself spending upwards of 5-10 minutes searching for specific things on the site and googling, using ChatGPT, etc. to figure it out. It adds more time to an already time consuming workload.

We primarily use Availity because several of our insurance providers require it. Overall, it has been useful for retrieving benefit and payment information, though there's still room for improvement.

Pros

It's incredibly convenient to have multiple insurance companies available on a single online platform, eliminating the need to spend time waiting on the phone. Generally, accessing benefit and payment information is quick and straightforward.

Cons

Customer support could be improved, as responses to online inquiries are often delayed, and phone support can be inconsistent. The website’s learning curve is steep due to its extensive features and at times unintuitive navigation. While Availity is valuable for accessing client benefit information, the process would be much more efficient with fewer required details. Often, clients don’t provide their insurance number, or it's recorded incorrectly, so having the option to search by name and date of birth would be a helpful enhancement. Additionally, allowing us to maintain a client list for easier access to benefits would save time by eliminating the need to re-enter client details.

Availity has increased productivity and efficiency in the office as a major time saver. In most cases, Availity has replaced the need to call insurance companies and deal with long hold times, inaccurate information, and miscommunication with insurance representatives.

Pros

Availity is a game changer when it comes to checking general patient health insurance policy benefits/eligibility. Phone calls to insurance companies can take up to an hour so the fact that Availity is capable of pulling up the same information in less than a minute is incredibly valuable. Furthermore, when I have compared the information generated through Availity to the details verbally given over the phone by an insurance representative, there is basically no difference. There have been a few times that Availity has provided even more accurate policy data than the live reps! The interface is easy to use and there are multiple ways to pull up a patient's health plan, so even if you don't have the exact ID number, you can use name, DOB, etc. and usually find the patient. Availity is really easy to use and has been a great tool for my practice.

Cons

There is a feature on Availity that allows you to pull up the actual image of a patient's insurance card, which is really great. It usually doesn't work, however. It would be great if this tool was fully functional and could bring up the ID itself. There are a few major insurance companies that aren't available via Availity, so we end up needing to call for those patients.

My overall experience is that life was better before Availity. BCBS of TN and Humana had PERFECT websites, now I have issues all the time with Availity. I can't even get benefits for Aetna and Availity seems uninterested to help. Overall I absolutely wish Availity would disappear.

Pros

Nothing, there is no positive to Availity since we had to use them. Nothing at all.

Cons

Constantly having intermittent issues (system always down) and constantly changing platform. Most recently they made looking up benefits more difficult than before.

Pros

If the EOB shows up, it's fairly easy to use. IF!! being the operative word. Also entering a claim through Availity is fairly simple, but it'll do you little good because you won't be able to find it after

Very poor. Very poor. Very poor. The sad part is the insurance companies make us use it particularly BCBS and they have no idea how horrible it is.

Pros

Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. Because there is always an issue with something.

Cons

Constantly down for certain insurance companies. Always an issue with our account. Customer service is...well there is none and in order to get any you have to complain. For example I opened a ticket for an issue and was met with a reply a few days later that due to high volume of tickets (meaning they have tons of issues) they couldn't help me. I replied letting them know that is terrible customer service and once I did that I got a reply the next day.

I used to love Availity and it's amazing ease of use and the complete information it provided. Not any more. I get that changes come with a learning curve - what I don't get is why this change comes with such inconvenience for end users.

Pros

Until this Monday I really enjoyed using Availity for the eligibility and benefit look up I spend my day doing.

Cons

The changes that were made to search eligibility and benefits have created, what used to be a very convenient process, a totally inconvenient task. I'm not understanding why I have to continually re-enter information with each search I do (ie: type of Benefit/Service type - provider NPI - place of service). That info went in once and stayed in with the previous version. It also doesn't list the history of all searches in one place. Anthem seems to have stayed as it was but all other companies are suffering the update. Which is also much harder to navigate.

Pros

A helpful feature is the emails alerting you to update provider information, which is required every 90 days.

Cons

We were made to move from OneHealth Port to Availity, which is not as user friendly. The eligibility returns are not as detailed, most times warranting a phone call to the insurance which we all know takes precious time away from other AR functions. Availity is clunky and elementary with it's features and information return. Availity has "payer spaces" for each payer - however, 90% of each payers space is purely informational articles, etc - no links, no options to gather more information about coverage, out of pocket maximums, etc.

The old platform was great. This new upgrade is horrible!!

Cons

The updated version, can't find info, hardly ever works now so I have to call and be put on hold for literally hours to ask one question. Prime example, CSR put me on hold for 25 min just now and then disconnected me so I still don't have the answers I need.

Pros

When Availity works, it is a HUGE time-saver. It negates the need for waiting hours on hold with insurance companies to verify benefits and estimate patient responsibility. Interface is pretty user friendly. They have added almost all commercial payers to the list, with exception of United Healthcare.

Cons

Let's face it...it VERY SELDOM works. Only about 50% of the time will it return results other than just basic benefits. The claim estimator piece is what really makes it valuable, and it "Cannot return results in real time...please try again later." This is extremely frustrating for the office staff and especially the front desk if the patient owes something more than a copay.

Our medical practice depends heavily on Availity's website on a daily basis. It allows us to look up patients' insurance benefits through most insurance companies without having to call in, Electronic Remittance Advices are easy to look up, and we are able to keep insurance companies up-to-date with our practice and doctor information through their services. And best of all, it's free! We have used Availity for years, and plan to continue for many years to come.

Pros

This website allows a variety of necessary functions for any medical practice. It is easy to use, and very convenient.

Cons

Their customer service leaves much to be desired. And the CareCalc/Cost Estimator functions often go down.

Overall, this has been a very useful program and in my opinion, the best place to check Medicare insurance benefits. There are many insurances accessible in this website, which is great also. The very first time I used it, I was able to navigate through the program and do exactly what I needed to without explanation or confusion. Definitely worth using if you need to access health insurance information, and beats a phone call for benefit checks any day!

Pros

I can check health insurance benefits online, update provider profiles, access many different insurances companies and it's all very user friendly and easy to understand.

Cons

Some of the health insurance companies only have limited information on the website, so it can feel frustrating when you can't access everything you'd like to.

Availity has good customer support. They come to your office if needed to provide onsite training.

Pros

This product is easy to use and has streamlined our process by allowing one resource for multiple insurance carriers. We are able to do claims status, eligibility, benefits, prior auths and many other duties.

Cons

I am not a huge fan of the screen changing for different insurance carriers. I would prefer the same format for all insurance carriers.
