My experience has been good overall. Easy to use for the most part. Has a lot of the carriers we work with.

Pros

It is easy to use and it makes sense when trying to figure it out. It is nice to go to one place for our insurance info.

Cons

Unfortunately, it is not a one stop shop for us. We have to go to another place to get some of our claims info.

### "Availity-A good tool for Health Insurance Lookup"

I like Availity and the way it's organized better than other Insurance lookup portals. It would be helpful if I could search Cigna and United plans so it was a one stop for searches.

Pros

Makes it very easy to search multiple Insurance Plans. I like that it saves clients so I can go back to look them up when verifying monthly. The Website is very organized.

Cons

Too many places to search for Remits and Authorizations. I wish it would let you search by HPT code for all payers.

Very bad and bitter. The worse company that I have ever dealt with. I wouldn't wish my experience on my worse enemy.

Pros

Nothing good about this company. The website is extreemly difficult to understand and manuver. No customer service support

Cons

Their website and the attitude of most of the workers. It looks like they do not understand the system themselve

Overall my experience with Availity has been great. I have been using it since I first started practicing 7 years and continue to use it to this day.

Pros

Availity is great value for money since it is free to providers. It is a great site that provides real time insurance eligibility and benefits information for most insurance carriers. You can submit and keep track of health claims. You can also keep track of all the claims data on availity.

Cons

There is a bit of a learning curve with using Availity. They do provide lots of informational videos and one on one training however.

Overall, Availity is great. We use it daily and I like that you can chat with most payers and usually get more information that way. I really like the ease of submitting authorizations and referrals. I like that it's quick and easy to access eligibility and benefits, even if a patient is standing right in front of you. It outlines them fairly easy to read. This is a great portal compared to others and I really enjoy using it.

Pros

Availity is a great portal, for the most part. I like how easy it is to access eligibility and benefits, claims, referrals and even submit prior auth.

Cons

I am not a fan of creating a new password, what feels like every two months, but it is good to have extra protection I suppose. I also don't like that with Aetna, we cannot access acupuncture benefits and always have to call. They tell us to refer to the portal on the phone but how are we supposed to when the information is lacking.

Did not like using so found a different billing platform that much easier to use and met my needs better.

Pros

Online accounting of claims submitted, payment received. Includes what insurance paid and what copay client owes. Good for benefit checks.

Cons

No live person to call and speak with. I am old school. I like having a phone number to call and then speak with a live person!

I did not purchase Availity. I found another medical biller that much easier to use and better customer support. Used Availity for looking up claim remittance information which is useful.

Pros

My favorite thing about availity is how easy it is to run insurance eligibility and submit for prior authorization.

Cons

My least favorite thing about availity is how much the premium account costs. I feel like it should cost just maybe not as much.

I have been using Availity for over 5 years only need several states for my account. So, my account is $0.00 - free.

Pros

Availity is very easy to use for several insurance companies; eligibility and patient records for benefits verified. Claims are easy to input and submit.

Cons

I do not like that you can not get denied EOB for some insurances; you only get a type of reject that you need to search for.

Pros

Availity is my one stop location for 75% of the insurance companies I work with. It has the ability to search for claims, add practitioners to my existing networks, etc. It is great to have all of that in one place.

Cons

Availity's interface and functionality requires a major learning curve. It is a difficult site to navigate. After using it for almost a year, I am learning more ways to navigate faster, however, I still find myself spending upwards of 5-10 minutes searching for specific things on the site and googling, using ChatGPT, etc. to figure it out. It adds more time to an already time consuming workload.

Cons

If the site is down then I can't do job. I'm on Availity everyday, multiple times a day. This doesn't happen very often.

Generally, I have been satisfied that they are always up and running. But as an amateur biller, it can be daunting to figure some things out. They have a lot of tutorials, however.

Pros

Generally, as a non-professional biller, I can bill fairly easily.

Cons

Hard to get questions answered by real person. After submitting claims, I can only see limited data, so if the claim does not go through at insurance company, I can’t review it readily.

Honestly I have mixed feelings about using this the way we currently are because of all the problems we have had, and at times, still continue to have. Our account manager has been great working to correct these but I do not think their setup and implementation teams do a very thorough job or we wouldn't be still having issues we are cleaning up from switching.

Pros

I like that the program is easy to use, correct claims, and get payments off of. It makes it nice having one program that functions as a full clearinghouse for claims. Their customer service and account managers are great to work with as well!

Cons

That claims do not stay in there longer than 5 days, EDI setups are not always completed, and payment remits are frequently missing from the listings.

My overall experience is that life was better before Availity. BCBS of TN and Humana had PERFECT websites, now I have issues all the time with Availity. I can't even get benefits for Aetna and Availity seems uninterested to help. Overall I absolutely wish Availity would disappear.

Pros

Nothing, there is no positive to Availity since we had to use them. Nothing at all.

Cons

Constantly having intermittent issues (system always down) and constantly changing platform. Most recently they made looking up benefits more difficult than before.

If the EOB shows up, it's fairly easy to use. IF!! being the operative word. Also entering a claim through Availity is fairly simple, but it'll do you little good because you won't be able to find it after

Very poor. Very poor. Very poor. The sad part is the insurance companies make us use it particularly BCBS and they have no idea how horrible it is.

Pros

Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. Because there is always an issue with something.

Cons

Constantly down for certain insurance companies. Always an issue with our account. Customer service is...well there is none and in order to get any you have to complain. For example I opened a ticket for an issue and was met with a reply a few days later that due to high volume of tickets (meaning they have tons of issues) they couldn't help me. I replied letting them know that is terrible customer service and once I did that I got a reply the next day.

Awful! It is an awful site that does not try to do customer service or fix their problem. They try to close your tickets before it is resolved and when you tell them there is an issue. They tell you there is no issue.For instance, trying file a dispute on a claim and there is no Dispute option. I get this a lot and they tell me "there is no problem... You can file dispute...It has been resolved..." I still have the same problem after they say these things.

Pros

You can go to Eligibility to claims...most of the time.

Cons

There is a long list. A lot of times you cannot pick options like the secured message, disputes, etc. on claims. Then when you try contact their support team/customer service.They do not try to help you resolve your issues and they close your tickets before it is even solved. I spent over a week trying to explain to them things like your portal supposed to shows claims and Assurance (the support says it was Assurance issue) is where we send claims electronically. They have nothing to do with denials or claims that has been denied. I will stop here because I run into at least 2 or 3 issues a day for Availity.

### "Great Tool, When It Wants To Be..."

Overall, its a great tool! I think for a program that has not the great reputation, its can be VERY handy! It houses a great deal of information and can save contacts from having to waste time holding for a phone call when its just a few clicks away! There are surely some improvements that can be made, for example the search feature, having to search by a few different methods in order to get to the results and it matches exactly what you were typing in is kind of a thumbs down, but it is overall a great time saving tool (when it wants to be!)

Pros

I am impressed with the amount of data housed and how easily it is to add new payors into your portal, or submit items for review such as authorizations or even reviewing EOR/EOBs, and claim status.

Cons

Sometimes you are typing in the exactly the correct items and you have to submit it 2 or 3 different ways before it "picks up what you're putting down"! I will enter the check number- search.. nothing, claims number-search..nothing, then search a date of service and billed amount and BAM! there it is, same claim number, same check number I tried in previous searches.

I wish it didn't exist. It costs our practice time and money because we can't get what we need online and have to call the insurance (like we did years ago)

Nothing. There is nothing good about this software.

Cons

Horrible software. I work with dental insurance websites every day. ALL are way better. Availity is way to big, complicated, and not functional. One shouldn't need training modules to look up eligibility!

This software allows our facility which has over 60 providers and four locations to operate seamlessly!

The chat feature can be somewhat clunky but has improved greatly just recently.

Overall, Availity has been great. Saves us a lot of time that we don't have to spend on the phone. Would definitely recommend it.

Pros

I use availity on a weekly basis. It's extremely helpful and convenient to check insurance benefits, submit and check authorizations, claims etc.

Cons

The only con is that I wish more insurance companies would jump on board. Right now it's a handful on Availity and a handful on another software. Would be easier if they were all on one. Availity is the easiest to navigate.

Pros

I like being able to go online and look up information rather than having to make an actual phone call. My job requires me to answer the phone and check patients in and out. Availity helps make my job easier by allowing me to look up information on my time.

I have been fortunate in my experiences with Availity. I have not encountered anything that would cause me to dislike this software.

All the insurances are not uniformed. So an appeal on one isn’t the same place as the other
