Buildertrend has made the company I work for much more efficient and organized. I don't know how we operated before Buildertrend.

Pros

This platform brings loads of organization with the features it offers. This is a great way to help keep the contractor, sub-contractors, employees, and homeowner on the same page. This app leads us to use less paper.

Cons

Buildertrend offers a massive amount of features and it can be very complicated to learn about those features. Then once someone learns how to use the features it is difficult to pass that knowledge onto other people or new employees.

I really like the mobile application for my phone - it works great - and it is fully functional. The online version for a desktop is smooth and has a lot of bells and whistles.

Takes a little to get used to - but their customer service and training videos are great!

Overall really happy now that I have had some time to figure out how to set it up to make it work best for my company. Little overwhelming at first, there is a lot this system can do for you.

Pros

The system lets you keep all the job info in one place, contract, billing, change orders all of it! Crews and clients communication is all in the same spot and that makes it easy to keep tabs on a project. Calendar is awesome the way you can link the jobs or schedules together. Change orders are a breeze once you add in the cost codes. Click an item and it will pull up different options and different prices.

Cons

TAX. if the client just wants to write a check and they don't click all the way to pay now they will not see the tax on that invoice. Sometimes the tax just plan doesn't make in on the invoice for some reason. You can't notify just one sub in a daily log, they all get notified even if it has nothing to do with them. I have seen a little push back from the subs on this. Now we just use the TODOs.

I work for a small, family run Design & Build firm. Early last year, we started looking for a tool that would help us with our project management when we stumbled across Co-construct. It wasn't exactly what we were looking for, but came close enough; plus it had a lot of neat features for making communication between ourselves, our clients and our suppliers very easy while eliminating our previous dependence on unwieldy spreadsheets. We've been using the product for over a year now, and while this period hasn't been without its hiccups, it has been a very positive experience for us. While very easy and intuitive for someone my age (30) to use, I've found some older partners and clients had some trouble (50+), but once I explained the purpose of the features they were having trouble with and how to go about using them, it was like leading a thirsty horse to water. A big bonus is the continual development going on behind the scenes, which results in new modules being released on a fairly regular basis. While at first they may seem to complicate the process, thanks to the amazing customer support, any confusion is quickly swept away. Honestly, I have never had to wait more than 3 hours for a response to an email ticket, which is incredible compared to my past software experiences. The #1 benefit of using the Co-construct system, in my opinion, is in keeping all communication about a project in one centralized package that's easy to access and always fully complete. The newer features such as the Job Site log and now the accounting (waiting for Quickbooks integration!!) feature are very easy to use and make tracking all aspects of a job incredibly easy. Our company purchased the branding package; now for clients to use the product, all they have to do is log in from our website, keeping the whole product very easy to access. We've received some great compliments from clients as to how innovative 'our' system is. It's okay, I don't mind taking all the credit. In short, if you're involved in renovations, new builds, or restoration, it behooves you to at least give Co-construct a look; my company did, and now it's an indispensable tool in our arsenal.

I wish more builders used Buildertrend. We use lots of different portals for different builders and this one is one of my favorites.

Pros

Super easy to submit pricing, view job documents and view purchase orders. Schedule reminders and notifications help keep us on track.

Cons

My only complaint is not so much with the software itself as it is with back end users. For this software to work to its full potential it needs to be fully utilized. Builders still trying to maintain excel sheets and Buildertrend can easily let the app’s features of budgeting and scheduling fall to the wayside.

It’s a really good tool. I have never been a foreman before and with the schedule that has been out in place for me, helps control the flow of the process to build the house.

Pros

I really like the depth you can go with the program. We communicate through the whole company and sub contractors through the program. It’s not to difficult to use. It’s easy to maneuver through the schedules, daily logs, and to dos.

Cons

It would be easier if there was a send button to the sub contractors when I change the schedule and it doesn’t send out the new dates until I have adjusted the entire schedule. Subs will contact me because they get multiple notifications of different dates because I have to adjust it Murillo times before it’s set, because multiple items are linked to each other.

We run a busy Design/Build construction team and Buildertrend has been a huge help organising and streamlining our day to day activities. It's great for clients to be able to log in to the app or the website from home to see progress and communicate with us and our trades on all levels of the project. Their support staff are amazingly helpful, providing phone support anytime I need it (even for the silly things I've asked them a hundred times). They're always willing to hear you out. In some cases they've whipped up short tutorial videos and emailed to me as future reference material to save me the trouble of calling in.

Pros

\-Client's love being able to see what's happening -Easy to navigate the website layout -Having everything related to the project (documents, construction drawings, communication, selections, pictures, schedules, to-do lists, invoices, etc.) in one place and available from anywhere via the mobile app -Support staff is awesome

Cons

\-Mobile app for both iphone & andriod require frequent updates as they continue to improve features -Not as easy to navigate the app's menu layout (things aren't in a similar order to the website) -From time to time external email notifications from the message feature will take an extra 2-3 days to arrive in the external email inboxs creating a bit of confusion. -Missing some small features like a filter on the "pay" option instead of having to either pay all at once or pay each individually (but this is a "serve the masses" issue, customers are always welcome to make suggestions to their resource team and hope enough other customers are asking for the same tweaks)

We started out not use the PO capabilities five years ago and are now totally dependent on it to help us manage our projects' costs. I can't imagine how we functioned without this. I need to dig deeper into the reports function.

Pros

We have been using Buildertrend for over 5 years and have found it to offer almost any solution we need in managing our business. There are so many options and functions that just about anything we need to accomplish is offered in this system. We've found the support team to be very helpful and extremely patient. I highly recommend this application!

Cons

I really can't think of anything. Most things I've had issues with over the years have been corrected or upgraded.

Cons

Just figured out that several months ago, the \[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN\] sent an email, that doubled your price of the software monthly bill unless you responded in the correct way. Our bill went up $200/mo without any ok from us, because we didn't catch a random email from the company. When I called, my rep was respectful, and understanding, but I figured out quickly that the extra money paid in was a donation. They lowered my bill to the original price, but buyer beware. We are now comparing other products...

Pros

The Selections section of Buidlertrend is very valuable to us. But being able to organize the Calendar, Selections, Change Orders and Documents all in one spot that can be used in the office or field is great.

Cons

I wish there was more ability to copy/paste between jobs (especially Change Orders). Sometimes the mind set of the design of the software is at odds with how we'd like to do things, but we typically are able to work around that.

We are a remodeling and restoration company. We were founded in April 2012 along with an on-your-lot home builder to fund a non-profit organization, ELM. ELM is a non-profit organization that specializes in assisting those that have fallen on difficult times to have a hand getting through those times and regain self-sufficiency. I began looking for software in June 2012 to aid in the estimation and job management aspect of the work we were performing. I came across several different software options that had individual potential. The weakness to each of these options was the inability to communicate extensively with the customer. One was fantastic at estimating the job and relaying the initial cost to the customer. The second was great at managing corporate job costs and communicating to the trades and vendors. We had nothing to track or communicate selections, changed orders, time delays, or progress to our clients. I came across Co-construct and thought that it would be the piece we were missing. It helps us in communicating allowances for selections, managing client communication, and tracking the progress of our projects. I started implementing the software and got sidetracked when our work became busier. Co-construct created our custom branding and had it to us in 10 days. They have helped tremendously any time I have had a question. Even when I haven't had a question, they have followed up to make sure I wasn't drowning. Once I picked up the software again, it was a lot easier to get started than I thought it would be. After talking to support, I setup a project, created allowances, and then created and posted a schedule in 3.5 hours. In about 20 minutes, I was able to demonstrate the software to my team and have them using the basic functions of Co-construct. Now, the complexity of the software is disguised by the ease of use. You can get started very quickly and be successful. As you use the software more and more, you will be able to track and measure a lot more than you ever thought possible. In my opinion, Co-construct blows other options out of the water when it comes to project/client communication.

There have been some glitches along the way, but support has been responsive and has worked with us to resolve most issues.

I thought with enough time it could've been helpful , but I'm an owner operator with little office time

Pros

I like the home screen, how it's set up like a white dry erase board. and customer portal feature, that's pretty cool.

Cons

I did not like the pricing and how much time it takes to set up, I signed up for trial to help save my company time, but it was only timing up my days more to set up

### "Great organizational tool for our business!"

I think a step by step start up kit would be a good idea. Do this first, then that, then this and so on. Separate it by category. Estimators work on their thing, office managers have theirs and project managers do as well. Those departments can explain things to the others once they understand them better. Trying to learn the whole program is impossible at first. We are more than 1yr in and still learning new things.

Pros

The scheduling feature is what I like best. I am the project manager for our company and having schedule templates with predecessors is a big time saver. Communicating with clients and trade partners together is also easier than being the middle man and repeating things twice. This keeps me in control, but lets all of us talk.

Cons

There is a lot to learn and it takes a long time and a lot of errors to get it so it's working well for us. There is only so much you can learn at once. Co-construct has camp that we went to in the beginning, but trial by fire and calling the support line is the only way we have learned. Great support center!

It's an all in one business solution designed to run your projects easier. It lets you manage your team, projects and clients al from a single platform.

Pros

1- I like the Daily Log feature. With just one click you can post the job-related update, share and notify with other users. Also, you can attach the documents and videos to that log. 2- You don't need to work on another accounting software as you can generate invoices and have customers to pay online with its payment friendly tool.

Cons

1- Other users have access to edit or delete my posted updates. 2- It turns a little slow while uploading docs.

It is has streamlined my company in lead management, job costing, estimating and project management! The client portal allows us to deliver an excellent experience for client.

Pros

Allowed for one software program to manage all aspects of residential construction process. From lead management throughout project and even into warranty period I have all info in one easily accessible program. Their customer service is unmatched in how responsive, friendly and helpful they are with questions or technical issues.

Cons

Initially the price was steep for job management. However they have since restructured how they bill for use so it is a great cost verses benefit!

Buildertrend has evolved the way our company manages and supervises our projects. Not only does it centralize the communication of the entire team in a single platform, but it also provides a sense of responsibility by providing an open and real-time record of everything that happens in our projects.

Pros

The coolest thing about Buildertrend is that it allows you to assign tasks specifically to each team member and set reminders that don't allow anyone to make excuses saying they didn't know or they forgot to do something.

Cons

I would like that in estimates, once having the total amount, it would be possible to apply a tax percentage to this amount, without having to enter it manually.

For businesses that are not using this product/program, I find it hard to understand how they can stay on top of their construction processes and costs. This program keeps you in check and on schedule.

Pros

Easily find what you are looking for, whether its a selection, a date in the schedule or a variation Great for interaction with the client, you can instantly send them a message/email and you are notified as soon as they reply Keeps all the information in one place You cant make a mistake that cannot be rectified The 'To Do' feature is a great tool for reminders or chasing up things that need to be done

Cons

The only bugbear I have is that you have to go into both 'change choice' and 'update status' to lock your selection., where as if the 'update status' was in the same section, you wouldn't have to go into 2 tabs and could save a little time.

We are a small custom home renovator & home builder and co-construct allows us to compete with larger companies for the same projects. Gives us a professional foot forward with proposals and gives clients access to the project via job logs.

Pros

Cloud based, intuitive, limits rework, improves communication, captures important project information

Cons

Schedule program can be improved. Still way more intuitive than Office Project, which was used before.

On the job side: aside from the jobsite menu and template menu, having a sub contractor/vendor menu would also be useful. On the individual jobsite information I have created many of my own custom fields. However, some that I have created, I would think should be standard for a construction CRM. BT only provides for one permit to be listed. We often have more than one for any one job, also having a "Permit Finalized" date field standard for each permit would be nice. And while you're at it, the issued date and expiration date of the permits would be some good information to have right there. Outside of not needing some of the features because we are only AC and Heating, I LOVE THIS PROGRAM. NOTE: on the next step of this review where it is asking how frequently it is used, the choices are odd in that its Once a day or week or month, I use it ALL day everyday. I find that several of the choices within BT are odd like that, but nonetheless, I still LOVE it.

Pros

This program really helps me stay on top of tasks and everyone else's tasks as well. It helps me meet deadlines and track everything.

Cons

Because our jobs are generally short in nature being an AC and Heating contractor only, its rare that our clients log in and take advantage of the software. The creating of templates in LEADS is not as straight forward as the rest of the program and not easily mastered by someone who has basic computer knowledge. Having to clear my history every day to ensure that I can view everything is annoying. Setting time in LEAD activities is a little weird. Not being able to set activities or calendared items on a 15 minute mark is annoying, sometimes it really is that pinpoint crucial to a job.

It's been a great experience and I'm happy to share my opinion. reprrsentative , J. Bradley Architects LLC.

Pros

As an Architect with a new Design Build Firm I was looking for software that was equal to the support that is available to the Large firms at a fraction of the cost. I found it with Co-construct and I'm so glad I invested both the time and effort to format and develop the templates. Our clients and subcontractors have embraced the technology and simplicity. We use almost every aspect of the program and it's set us apart from our competitors.

Cons

There are some little nuances that you'll experience with any type of software.... that comes with anything but overall I've been able to rectify through support from coconstruct or mostly just figuring it out on my own.
