BuilderTrend makes my life so much easier. It's so easy to keep track of everything. I don't have to remember things because it's logged in BT and I can just look it up. Customers don't often fall through the cracks because BT makes it so easy to keep on top of things.

Pros

I love all the detail. You can manipulate any section through filters to find exactly what you need. There is a spot to put everything you need. I love the templates. Templates I think might be the best thing about BuilderTrend. We are just starting to use the proposals and I love how much detail there is. It's so specific. It's an amazing communication tool. I use the Daily Logs all the time to record calls and make notes about customers.

Cons

I really can't think of any. Sometimes there is the occasional bug but that gets fixed pretty quickly. There are updates all the time which I love.

Pros

I like the fact that the software is available in an easy to use mobile version. I am out in the field everyday and i use it on every stop.

Cons

I am still new to my role so I don't know of any cons that i can think of.

Buildertrend offers a very thorough project management software for home builders. We primarily use the budgeting, sub-contractor, and scheduling portion of the software in our daily business. The budgeting portion allows for the ability to schedule and submit PO's to sub-contractors as well as submit invoice payments directly into our QuickBooks Online account. The platform for communicating with our homeowners throughout the project is great and allows them to feel like they're part of the construction and allows us to get change orders approved quickly.

Pros

Their customer support is very responsive, detailed and nice. If there is something you need that the program does not offer, they put it on their development list.

Cons

In some aspects such as billing the Change Orders, the learning curve can be a bit steep. But again, the support is great and they will take you through any aspect of the software and help you out.

I love it!! implementing its use while starting a new contracting business has made my life so much less stressful than the last time I did this without CoConstruct.

Pros

keeps all my job organized makes it super easy to set up new jobs, no multiple entries. awesome customer interface makes me look very professional and actually helps sell jobs. full log of all messages and other correspondence between myself and customers means no he said she said mis understandings as project progresses. make it simple to issue and get approvals for change orders.

Cons

mobil app needs some improvements I wish there was an app that worked well with my I pad.

Customer Service rep is awesome! He answers any questions right away and is always available for training sessions and assistance. He also listens and understands our needs. I have even seen some of our suggestions incorporated in the last few months. Nice to have a company that listens to its customers.

Cons

Matching with our current system Admin side doesn't currently offer enough customization options to match up with what we are already doing.

Pros

The software is very user friendly. As a new user it is very easy to navigate around.

Cons

Too many options to view selections or budget. Each shows different options but not always same information ie..grid vs category and estimate vs total cost

Pros

All communication is in one place; subs, employees, customers, leads etc. Customer support is always available. The professionalism it portrays to customers.

Cons

The monthly cost for a small remodeler is steep. The complexity of the program. Especially with the customers' selections with markup. The learning curve was very time-consuming. We continued to encounter questions and problems early on that should have been uncovered in training.

I was just like every other builder out there, I am competitive on price, I provide a good product and we have good service, but that all usually goes haywire the moment we start to get too busy and then I cant keep up with the paperwork, our quality suffers and I end up with upset and confused clients. Prior to co-construct I used a regular Microsoft Gantt chart for our schedules which, when we first gave it to a client it looks great but after one or two changes it still looks the same, even if I am keeping up with my extensions of time. The client still only looks at the end completion date and I rarely updated the completion date on the Gantt chart. What this meant is that we had clients who still believed they were moving in on the initial completion date. This just created confusion and anger with the clients. The other thing we would do is let the clients take control of their selections, and as usual, they wouldn't pick them until the last moment and we would lose our tradesmen that we had booked in as we wouldn't have the gear for them to start. Since we started using Co-construct we have been running ahead of schedule and have been giving all of our clients deadlines for choices. We have happy clients across the board and they all comment on how easy it is to use, I even have an 75 year old lady who is using it and loves it. It has become a great sales pitch when selling to new customers and we have been winning more projects because of it. I will never go back to our old system and I can only suggest if you are serious about building a strong reputable company then Co-construct would be the first thing I would implement. Co-construct where were you 15 years ago!

Pros

Change Orders and Selections are excellent. Enjoy the photo upload features. Continual updates of product.

Cons

Scheduling system is not as strong as we like it to be. Entering To-Do items is time consuming - needs simplification The "Open Assigned Items Report" in the Vendor section needs work - grabs old, outdated information.

### "Co-Construct "

This is a great construction management software! I own a small general contracting and carpentry business with my father and brother and we purchased this for a large addition project. We desired at first the program just for some web-based scheduling which we thought was a little pricey, but we decided to try out the free trial. It turned out to be a great trial. All the features of the program are awesome and very user friendly. My clients absolutely love it. I especially like the job log and the photos, its so easy to log details and take photos right on my iPhone. The selections tab is also great for me and clients, no more arguing about the "he said, she said", you just make up the selection and they choose after reading the details and then there is a record of all selections later. The bid invitations also work really well, no more going through emails to find out what that one sub asked, its all right in front of you. The message board with the clients works the same way. I tried several other programs as well and the other programs have "more features" but I found them harder to navigate through and harder to learn and after using the program for about 5 months (daily) I would not have used those "other features" anyway.

Pros

The customer support and service is great, always super helpful and clear.

Cons

Takes some time to understand how to use all the features but what program doesn't?

### "Review on coconstruct "

I am a carpenter working in Washington DC for a design build firm. We do mostly kitchens and bathrooms on the smaller end and full renovations and additions on the bigger end. My company has been using coconstruct for probably around 2 years now and it is highly unpleasant to use. Its main problems are that it is incredibly bloated and highly specific in terms of its structure. Most of the folks in the field in my company only use it for selections and even then, the user experience for the selections module is very cluttered and hard to follow. Yes, you can look closely and get what you need but I think that the ease of use and experience for the user is important. Especially for the older men and women in the industry who are especially reluctant to use technology. Making programs less cluttered and more intuitive to use is really important because it makes the folks in the field so much more likely to use it. Right now, every time I have to mess with coconstruct, I dread it and wish it was easier to just pop on, find what I need and jump back into what I'm doing. Instead, I have to dig.

Pros

I like that it's a step in the right direction in terms of getting away from papers

Cons

It's cluttered and the user experience isn't emphasized in its development. It looks like the folks developing it aren't creative and don't care about making the user experience intuitive.

BuilderTrend software and support are value added for my company. Implementing was easy and technical support quickly addresses any questions. BuilderTrend has allowed us to focus on and improve internal processes resulting in better project management. Selling jobs is easier when customers realize they can track the process and progress from anywhere. They love our photos which they are able to share with friends and family. Our customers really enjoy the peace of mind BuilderTrend provides them with the knowledge they can monitor and see the historic data has well. We have found the change order feature helps our customers understand the cumulative affect of C/Os and prevents "sticker shock" at the end. We recently remodeled an Antebellum Home in Natchez, MS, just over 145 miles from our office. The owners were living South Louisiana with one of the owners working in San Francisco, CA. The first thing every day, the owners logged on the BuilderTrend website to check progress, approve change orders, material choices and colors, etc. Considering the distances involved for all parties, this project would have been a logistical and communication nightmare without BuilderTrend. We currently have a jobs in Hattiesburg, MS with owners as far away as Oklahoma and South Carolina. BuilderTrend is a blessing and a must in an ever shrinking world with tighter and tighter profit margins. I've always heard and believed "there's always room to improve" and with a great product like BuilderTrend, I can hardly wait, because it's hard to image a better solution, so improvements must be fantastic. I'm sure the BuilderTrend team has already started on some new features.

As mentioned above, job costing is such a great thing that can be accomplished. Sending bills out of BT is also a great aspect of the software.

Pros

Easy to use and so functional! If you need to job cost and you find that Quickbooks lacks in this area, this is the software for you.

Cons

There is actually very little that I don't like about Buildertrend. Using in conjunction with QBO, it's very nearly perfect.

Pros

I like the response time from the people at Co-construct when I've had a question or problem to work out. They have been very timely in getting back to me. Co-construct is a great way for our construction business to organize many jobs at once and communicate with everyone in the office. Additionally, it is a digital record of all that transpired.

Cons

Sometimes when I'm in selections view for a particular project and I want to go to a different project, Co-construct doesn't always allow me to type in the new projects name in the scroll down box. Sometimes the down arrow is there and allows me to click and search for another name/address and sometimes it isn't. When it isn't I then have to go back to Main Menu and find the particular project by scrolling down to its location. It might be helpful to have a box on the dashboard to type in a particular project's name instead of having to scroll through all the projects we're working on (our list can be long). Then it would take you there immediately. I also have had difficulty adding categories and having them save in the Add Selection view. The new category will be there while I've created, added and saved it, but when I go to another page and come back again it's gone.

Robin -- Thanks for the heads-up. We're putting in a fix this weekend to address the occasional time where the drop-down menu for switching a project doesn't allow you to search by name. Our project grouping feature may also be of use to you for quickly getting to a project, among a long list of jobs. We'll follow up with you with more detail.
