Used the software for: ### "" April 2, 2013 4.5 We are a true custom home builder that typically builds around five to six homes per year. Our company has been using BuilderTREND for about 1 1/2 years now and it has really made a difference! Our clients especially LOVE being able to see the posted calendar schedule--knowing when to expect certain things to happen on their home. They also really enjoy the ever-changing pictures of their home in progress. Since this was our first time using software of this kind, it has really been nice to have everything electronicly available for any job from any location--which is usually on the jobsite but it has even been nice to be able to access job information while we or our client has been on vacation! BuilderTREND was an easy program to learn and our clients have had no problem picking it up quickly too. A few of my FAVORITE things or things that have made my job easier are the color-coding of specific responsiblities--at a glance I am able to see what I need to complete, the email notifications--whether they are reminding subs of expiring insurance certificates or notification of their expected arrival on our job, to the paper trail of emails all being in one location--that pertain and are necessary on every job, to the dated and confirmed client selections that may have been made months in advance and I am expected to remember but sometimes need a "refresher" on what each client is expecting to be supplied on their home. There are so many more features that could benefit EVERY home builder in the industry--these are just a few I like. I highly recommend using BuilderTREND--you'll not be disappointed. From the experience I had by watching the system, and seeing the enjoyment of the person using it, it really depends on the person its self. Pros So once or if you can get used to the way this system works, you may or may not like it. I know someone with a construction business and they used Buildertrend, and I watched the way this worked for them. Buildertrend has some unique features like financial tools, building tools and customer management. Cons This software specifically I thought was a bit difficult to get used to. You really have to have the patients to get used to the system and exactly how it works. I wouldn't use this software, but many others do and its just like anything else. Communication has been great with the change orders and selections on homes. Pros I like the layout and ease of use. Everything is laid out so it's easy to find and use. It's simple enough for us to explain to our clients how to use and that is helpful. It's also a very robust program. It has all the features we need in one spot to manage all of our projects. Cons We really wish the system had a way to use the features offline. A lot of our homes are vacation homes and are in areas out of cell service. Review Source BL Brett L. Customer service is incredible. Cons Can be a little tricky to just jump into because there's so much to cover. Luckily customer service makes up for this. Pros What I like most about this program is the interactions with our clients. They can see the pic's or videos that we post. This gives the client(s) a feeling of control over their project. Cons It is difficult to maneuver form task to task. We pay some of our subs through BT. This is a pain in the butt. Too many steps. And if you make a mistake paying a PO/Bill it takes for ever to correct. I want more control and ease of use. And the $1.99 charge turns off my subs. This needs to change!!!!!!! We chose this software after reviewing many others. We love the scheduling aspect and the ability to sync with our accounting software. Pros I love the ease that the system can be maneuvered around in - between multiple job sites and different screens - PO's are easy to send to vendors straight through email and they tie directly to invoices in our accounting software Cons The customer service, when dealing with a minor issue is very good. However, when getting into "second level" or critical thinking elements, the company currently has a hard time responding and solving issues. As such, there are many details we need to identify, organize and manage in order to successfully prepare a project for construction. We utilized a variety of programs to communicate with our clients, define scope of work, budgets, selections and schedule. We were looking for a single source that would integrate these efforts into one user-friendly program. To our delight, not only was this program available, but worked in the Cloud. We did not have to worry about work station compatibility or network configurations. As long as a person had access to the internet, he or she was up and running with a very robust, integrated project management system that addressed all of the critical functions of a successful construction process: 1. Communication (with trades, clients and contractor) 2. Selections (sourcing and approvals) 3. Schedules 4. Financials / Budgets 5. Files and Pictures uploading 6. Warrantee processes 7. Job Log status and updates All of these functions are available in real time, as it is happening. The gear up time is very reasonable with tutorials and live help as you need them. Customer support is outstanding and the folks who designed the software are open to suggestions on how to improve on functionality and features that you would like to have incorporated in future upgrades. The system is unbelievably affordable and a game changer for us. We are pleased to refer them to all companies interested in improving their processes, efficiency, image and bottom line. If you need to change a vendor it is an all day project. When they went to the new look it now takes forever to move from screen to screen, you need to click on the same icon multiple times (many time up to ten times) to get it to accept the click. When I called customer service they said you need a minimum browser speed but my IT guy says we greatly exceed the minimum and it is not the issue. It has all the functionality you could possibly imagine, but it is arranged in a complex and convoluted way that makes it easy to make mistakes and get lost. If you are looking for a simple and straightforward software, this in not it. You will have to watch 3-4 hours of redundant movies to get trained on it. The movies are long and demonstrate even the most boring, intuitive details. The only thing that was missing was a tutorial on how to move the mouse. We have since moved to a much simpler software that meets our needs better, and honestly, the amount of time we spent on this software was not the worth the output. In retrospect, we wish we had anticipated this in the sales process, since the review above is a tile a subcontractor, rather than a custom home builder or a remodeler. We do have training videos, as well as unlimited, live GoToMeeting sessions, phone support, and e-mail based support. We also publish our live satisfaction ratings from our clients on our site at http://www.co-construct.com/support/. But, no amount of support, in any format, can overcome when a system is simply designed to work for a different type of operation. We don't believe that one-size-fits-all, and that's certainly true in this case. That's why we gave a full refund to this client, since we obviously don't want someone to feel trapped by our system when it was a mismatch from the start. February 21, 2017 4.0 the software is really cool that it has all sorts of different features. Also the calendar is a great toll when checking scheduled jobs when customers call in. Pros This software is a good tool for the building market. Now all we need as for everyone to use it so it's easier to communicate with the builders through Builder Trend. Information was getting lost in translation since adding CoConstruct our efficiency is increasing dramatically. The site is very easy to use. They have a "coach" that is helpful in throughout the process of implementation as well as online help. Cons We are a remodeling company where every project is different, this is tailored to a new home, or new home construction. As a result software has been a challenge.
