Pros

Change order features and scheduling. We also like the documents section and ability to retain information by daily logs.

Cons

Need to adapt business in some instances to limits of the program. It can be difficult to navigate some of the information and the display of the program could be better.

Its been good so far, its cheaper than Procore and is a better fit for our company.

Pros

Great array of tools to use in making the building process methodical, tools like the documents folder for all project drawings and specification are great. The integration with Xero was a big plus.

Cons

Other platforms do a better job of marking up the drawings which allows for a better distribution to all subcontractors and stakeholders.

We are a small civil construction company that employs around 50 people and we were still doing all our daily reports on paper, and taking photos with a camera. I felt that we would be in a much better position if we modernized, so my boss let me look for a software to help move into the technology age. I spent a month or so looking at all the available options ( there are a lot of them) but comparatively BuilderTrend was the one that seemed like the best place to start even tho they are more geared towards residential we were able to begin to do daily reports with photos from the field and the guys were able to clock in on their cellphones using the proper coding for what ever tasks they might be doing that day. It enabled us to see where we are in the submittal process as well as to see RFI's to get answers to questions we had in the field. All in all I would say it has worked out pretty good for us and the more we use it the better it is. The support team at Buildertrend is readily available and always willing to help

Pros

Being able to access information from either my tablet or my phone when I am in the field.

Cons

They do not have a formal submittal or RFI documentation set up but they said they are working towards that.

Pros

I like that the clients can see what we are expecting to happen each day. I think it is great that we can set up a profile for them. It limits confusion in regard to what we have said and what we are saying now. Change orders being posted on there has really helped us track pricing and monies.

Cons

The whole system just tends to feel a little clunky. Moving dates on the calendar and adding resources, it is not always intuitive and that can sometimes make things more difficult than they need to be.

We are a Remodeling and Custom Home Builder and have been operating in Texas for over thirty years. Co-construct has definitely made our lives much easier in communicating with our clients, trades, and scheduling our projects. We have been using Co-construct for almost two years and have been extremely happy with the product and especially happy with the customer service. Prior to using Co-construct, we tried two other programs and become very frustrated with the software and especially the customer service. I cannot rave enough about the customer service. Donny and his staff have been very responsive to our questions and suggestions. Several features that we felt would be beneficial to the building community have been adapted by the company. I would not hesitate for a moment to recommend Co-construct. In fact, over the years we have recommended several friends and they have been extremely pleased with the software. The software is relatively easy to learn and use. In fact, if I can use it, anyone can! We have one staff member dedicated to "overseeing" the program but our entire staff is using some phase of the software. The majority of our homeowners are very pleased with the software. Only those who refuse to use email and the internet have objected to using the software. Bottom line benefit - a great "job filing cabinet". If you use it properly, you have all of your information in one central location. The only thing missing is a "first class" accounting and job cost system. Then it would be heaven :-)

The best part of BuilderTrend is everyone involved in the job has access to the same information. I work in the remodeling industry and we have to coordinate with a lot of trades. My job requires the most interaction with BuilderTrend's selections and messaging capabilities. The electronic signatures sometimes save us time and energy in getting items signed off by the client. However, after using it with nearly 20 clients of varying levels of tech savvy, the process for approving the selection is not intuitive. I believe the process can be streamlined with less clicks, like having the "Approve Button" be in place of the "pending" icon. Once the selection has been approved, retaining the green check icon would indicate an item is no longer pending. The problem right now is that clients do not think to click on the words to bring up the approval window, because the words do not look anything like an active link or button. Rather than clicking through tabs to review all the details of the selection before approving, it would be nice to have the approval window open up one page that summarizes everything. The other area that can be improved is allowing us to attach more than two files at a time in messages. However, the best part of the message system is that cilents can reply to BuilderTrend emails through their own inboxes instead of having to log into BuilderTrend each time. Other than these two areas for improvement, I really like having all the selections organized neatly through BuilderTrend's system.

Great experience, really interesting to be in a room full of people with all types of experience and all types of home building/renovating businesses. This tool is great but clearly has many layers that will take time to full integrate into our business. Starting one step at a time and going from there. I think at least 3 days would have been better with more time for hand on application as well as a plan to roll out to the rest of the team at home who may or may not be tech-savvy. Facilitators and atmosphere were 10++, well rolled out for such a large group. Left me anxious to get going with this ...

Pros

Depth of the software and the fact that it continues to evolve. Facilitators and location 10++. Loved the energy and the real-time testimonials from the guest speaker and fellow classmates. Good practical discussions and loves of idea sharing for roll out use in the field.

Cons

Still some glitches that we need to work out (time clock). Too early for me to really give more than that as I am not sure if it is me or the product at this point, need to spend some real time with it so I can roll it out and get going with it.

The software is growing as we grow, so I don't think we'll ever outgrow it. They are constantly adding new innovative features that make it easier and easier to use.

Pros

Customer Support, constantly growing software. We are having trouble finding the time in our busy schedules to implement all the features! The parts we have started to use have helped us manage more jobs, making us even more busy. I can't wait to see what we can do with all of the features in place! Also, they make it easy to get started with no contract to pay for.

Cons

There are just a few little tweaks we'd love to see on the overall Task Manager - like being able to filter the schedule to just the "milestones".

Stone Creek Builders is a multifaceted residential and light commercial remodeling company. We do a variety of projects ranging from kitchen remodels to office buildings. Regardless of what we are doing, there are several consistent things we need to do in order to build great projects. These things not only create a profitable environment for us, but also enhance the customer experience in the following ways: keeps everyone happy, holds everyone accountable, holds on to our profit, and keeps everyone’s eyes happy. I can honestly say we could never do what we do, as good as we do, without a partner like Co-construct. I have had the pleasure of spending a considerable amount of time with the founder and he is a real guy that wants to see all of us succeed. He cares about what we need as builders to be successful and adds features around those needs. We have been fortunate enough to be with Co-construct for many years (almost since the beginning) and as their company has grown, they always remain personable and with-in reach. The customer service and support is awesome, and they are always willing to help in anyway. I can also say that I have tried a competitors system a year or so ago and it was a horrible experience, so all of my companies now use Co-construct; and we even use it to manage installs for a big box retailer. Super impressed and I brag about it as a new user.

Pros

Very user friendly! This is my first time using this kind of software, but I've found that all you need is common sense to navigate around. I really like how you can start with simply adding people as a new contact, then turn that into a lead where you can and add files (photos and bids for us) all before you have to create a job. The app is wonderful. We tell all of our prospective clients about this program, and I'm hoping you have a referral program because I'm pretty sure one of our clients is going to purchase it for their GC business. :)

Cons

South Florida vendors/subs do not seem to be on board with this sort of technology.

We used co construct for a few months, and left. Biggest mistake! We are not in the process of full integrating it into our company. We lost so much time an opportunity. Wish I had done this earlier

Everything in one place Many features Always improving Co construct is a great platform for renovators and builders alike. We are a general contractor, and this has been game changing for us

Cons

Takes time to implement It need o be made a habit to work The cost in the level of complexity. This is not really a problem other than you HAVE to to commit to the program. It is easy to star off with the basics ( daily logs, schedule etc.) but to get the real value you have to put in the effort

Pros

All your project information is in one place, and it files itself depending on what item it is. The approvals are the best because you can submit your variations to the client, and they can click to confirm, which is like money in the bank. I have been promoting full payment of variations on approval, which is a big change from sending my money and time to provide variations to then spend more time in accounting and chasing the payments. The email messaging section speaks for itself: a great time saver. The support team at Co-construct: I don't think there is better. I have been very happy, and they make it simple for us builders, because we did sign up 20 years ago to bang on a keyboard like a monkey. I also dig the webinars. The hands-on with our rep is reassuring if you have one or a few issues.

Cons

I have always consider that American contractors have had a higher profile or standing in their country than builders perhaps in Australia. And hence, there is no one in Australia putting out a program like this. So what I like the least would be the language used, as we use different terms in Australia, and the main issue is explaining the differences to my clients.

Needs a Submittal Log also. Simply take the RFI Log and make a Submittal log. No brainier.

Pros

It is use friendly, not too difficult to figure out, very forward thinking... by using it you can see that the developers have a good sense of what we do as professionals and have thought of all of the ways we can use BuilderTrend and have built the product with that in mind, very cool! You customer service and technical support is second to none. I call you at least once a week and I think that there was only one time that the person answering couldn't answer my question. Superb!

Cons

There are little edits that I think that you could fix easily... but the process to get something changed is horrible. I don't want to post something on a community chat... I want to send an email and say, "Hey, it would be really nice to have the ability to make my font BOLD or change the color of the type in the log note section... " instead of the way you handle that today.

We have been using BuilderTrend for a couple years and for the most part, have really liked the entire system. We do not use everything the system contains but utilize everything we can at this point in time. Most of our clients and subcontractors like having a place that helps them stay organized as well. The only things I would like to see is to add an ability to alter how reports are presented and change how selections work.

Pros

I like how customizable builder trend is and how all inclusive it is. It truly is a one stop shop for all a person's project management needs.

Cons

Buildertrend advertises itself as a software where a person only has to input data once and it populates throughout. This is NOT the case. Also because it is so customizable it can be very difficult to navigate and use. It can be very hard to try to understand how the software developers intended information to be input into the program.

Pros

I love that there are constant upgrades to the system and that they are always looking to improve. I love the tech support people, they are very helpful and courteous - and don't hesitate to ask another tech if they cannot answer my question. This saves me time! I LOVE the plug in to Quickbooks, I can't even tell you how much time this saves us. I just love that they constantly improve, like the on screen markups, the Change Orders, etc. There's nothing I DON'T like, and only a few things I can think of to improve on.

Cons

I don't like that you cannot add notes to the budget screen. I can add notes when I add the estimate, but life would be much easier if I could show those notes on the budget screen.
