I have spent years using spreadsheets to create budgets and schedules, and yes, somehow things got built and completed. But the amount of time it took to keep these things not only updated but well communicated was insane. I can't begin to describe how much time and energy Co-Construct is saving me and my company, to say nothing about how impressed clients and trades are with the systems we have in place to run projects.

Pros

Wealth of features (Estimating, scheduling, to do's, messaging, questions/answers, warranty items, uploading drawings and photos). Ability to present ourselves as professionals from the very first meeting with clients (and trades), and practically selling our design and construction services while we're in the initial feasibility stages.

Cons

It takes some time to understand and get used to the relationships between Budgets, Estimates and Selections, and understanding who sees what and when on the other side (clients and trade contractors).

I have found all Co-construct's strengths fantastic, including the ability to control client emails. So, when a client phones in a detail to be confirmed or additional, you can always say "okay, put it in the system and I will get right on it". As every detail is time stamped, there are no worries. With my last big job, the clients varied the contract by 165 variations and only signed 163 of them. There were two variations in dispute, after verbally confirming them at the final meeting. Hence, the time stamping is a great function. The approvals is my favorite. I have always gone into detail with variations in the past, now I love how short and sharp this approval process is, and most importantly, when you get the confirming email that it is approved. It's like winning little lotteries. My only negatives with Co-construct is being able to use the program to its potential in all the areas, and that is no reflection of the support. It is more my understanding of the program, so in short my ability to use it completely. I have taken some time to select Co-construct and also Xero, which I believe to be a forerunner program like Co-construct. I hope you will feed and support this program, even though it is from NZ. There are many good points to flatter Co-construct with, but mainly this system has helped me be more efficient in just three months.

Overall everyone here is excited at how well CoConstruct works with our business and the time it is saving. We have tried other systems but so far this one has worked the best.

Pros

Very easy to use. Relatively short learning curve with the assistance of top notch knowledgeable coaches and support staff. Accessible from anywhere since it is web based. Faster than server based software. Well thought out system by people who obviously knows construction. All job related communication is located and documented in CoConstruct. Our subcontractors and clients love it. Much better than the software we were using at a competitive price.

Cons

We were used to creating plumbing, lighting, door, etc. schedules in an excel spreadsheet template we created. It was easy to fill out and understand. We wish something similar could be added to CoConstruct. There a few clunky things but I think they are working those out.

Their web-based interface is VERY clean. Plus, they are constantly and systematically updating their product, listening to the feedback of their users. Incredible.

Pros

Hands-down the best customer support I have seen lately...really, they're incredible. Between their web-based knowledge base, their videos, the training coach they assign to you at the start of your enrollment, the customer support you can reach by phone during business hours, the support you can receive via email, AND the support you can receive via email during the weekend, these guys are insane about customer support! This company is going to DOMINATE the market!

Cons

Because of the vast amount of features this product offers, the learning curve is not for the faint of heart. But, their customer is really, the best that I have ever seen for a tech company, so if you're willing to put in the time up-front, you will never look back.

We are a small remodeling company that does about 30-50 kitchen and bath projects a year. Since we started this business seven years ago, we have struggled with keeping track of all the communications within the company and with the customer. A great example that I will never forget is when I got a call from a customer the night after their beautiful and expensive honed absolute black granite countertop went in. Instead of saying how great it was, they pointed out that we put in a D-bowl sink instead of the rectangular sink they requested. Sure enough, buried in an e-mail to our designer three weeks before, was the request to switch the sink style. We missed it, the countertop people never knew it, and we ended up replacing a $1500 piece of countertop! Yikes! Co-construct was recommended to us by a collegue and it is awesome. We subscribed three months ago, and I was able to implement it easily. It came just in time, since we are running the most complex project in our company's history! The few questions I have had were answered amazingly fast. Better yet, I was able to have a customer use it without any training at all. Everyone loves the mobile app too. I bring up the software in every sales call, and send out our custom-branded brochure to everyone. As you can tell, I am a big fan! Now they just need to bring out a CRM module...

Pros

I like how it you can share stuff (documents, purchase orders, change orders etc) with sub-contractors and the owner. Really helpful because soon we won't have to email/post paperwork to sub-contractors and our clients. I like it how there are leads on this system and you convert to a job - everything is already there, no transferring stuff from one program to another - ALL IN ONE PLACE!!

Cons

It doesn't auto-generate a Lead # when you create a new lead - i think this would be really helpful. And it would be good if the lead number was carried over to the Job Number. Also the cost-codes you can't save a price to a cost code, therefore every time you do a purchase order you need to manually enter the price for any cost code you add to the order. It also doesn't account for GST (Goods and Services Tax - in New Zealand), therefore if a purchase order gets approved and then "Paid", it comes up in Xero as having no GST, when it should have. It's just a matter of changing it to include GST manually but would be good if this was automatic!

For the most part, this product has been easy to use. There are times were it tends to lag, especially when turning leads into job sites, but for the most part it is very reliable and easy to use. I really like how when new features come up, you all post a new letter so that upon logging in you are greeted with a summary of thew new features available. I think the product works great for our purpose and have no recommendations for improvements at this time.

I like the program but it is not as easy to grasp as I anticipated as I don't have the time to immerse myself into the program as some owners may since I am in the field on jobs most of the time and customer support is not available in the evenings when I get to the office.

Pros

The scheduling capability that helps in setting up subs and the ability to create to-do's with photos for the subs.

Cons

The change orders are time consuming and have duplicity in the system and there is still some issues with exporting updates to QuickBooks without losing progress billing information.

### "What a great app"

I found it by chance on the Internet and watched some videos about what it does. I jumped immediately to the trial because it is very helpful in the construction when I work at. I've found very helpful the task scheduling feature so far, it's easy to work with.

Pros

I love I can manage the construction activities from my phone in an app. Amazing. I tried scheduling the daily activities of the workers and I could track them all easily.

Cons

Nothing so far. I think I'll get this app once my trial time has ended because it has a lot of features I can use at work.

I like the new update for owner invoicing. This update makes it easier with less of a chance of duplicating. I am still learning but I like the program as it is easy to communicate with the subcontractors.

Cons

The lag time when entering bills. The page always has to reset itself. I would like to see this updated.

Pros

Schedule creation is easy Sharing the schedule with Key stake holders makes our design/build experience better

Cons

Document management system is my biggest criticism of BT which I am otherwise a huge fan of. We use Google drive because it is integrated into our computer, similar to Drop box. When we want to share a file, we click on it and share it with a team member. Having a secondary document management system on BT is a pain because you are duplicating your efforts. If you could some how do what google drive and drop box has done, I would definitely use that feature.

I am a builder remodeler and I have been using the software for about a year, moving into it slowly. In the past I used Microsoft Project, and it became to cumbersome and expensive to maintain and the communications tools were not as easy to use as I wanted, especially from phone or tablets. As I take on more work this year and anticipate allowing more team members from our building and remodeling company to access, add data and use the system, I see the benefits of the Co-construct everyday. The ability to tailor to small and short, or large and long, projects together makes it much easier to keep up with your to do list. The ability to create a new project quickly, especially short ones, is very convenient. The support from the Co-constrcut folks is always quick and helpful, whether by phone or Internet. Our trade partners are beginning to embrace the system, and though it's a little foreign to them at first, they do begin to relate as time goes on. I have found it easier to add a few into the system at a time rather than all at once because they are confused at first, and it takes some phone call communications to confirm the messages before they feel comfortable with the software. You must keep the schedule up to date or then they loose faith in the whole system. My customers also like the communication aspects of Co-construct.

Pros

I have to say that I was reluctant to use a new product, I can now geniunly say that co construct make the construction management process a breeze for each and every end user in our company including the client who is our sole reason for being in business, the program lends itself perfectly to our transparency policy and our clients love the ease of use and the lack of effort it takes, rather than pick up a phone 95% of our clients will post a message to co-construct and that message goes to evert single member of our team from the guy digging the footer in the clients back yard to the owner of the company.

Cons

The only feature I'd like to see easier to use would be a dial feature to call directly out of the program but I have to admit even as a moderately experienced user I would bet I only use 50% of the capabilities of this amazing and awesome construction proccess manager

My company, One Man and A Hammer, has always focused on quality, promptness, and, above all, open communication with clients. As we grew it became more difficult to find time to answer clients' questions in a timely manner. Keeping track of all correspondence also became increasingly more difficult. I found myself, as did my sales team, endlessly searching for an email or fax that addressed a specific item: material selections, product specs, vendor quotes, etc. It was unprofessional and, at times, embarrassing. Not to mention that all of the "he said, she said" scenarios that potentially could ruin an otherwise beautiful remodel project. Enter Co-construct. Now that Co-construct is in place and being used daily, the communication gaps have essentially gone away. All correspondence is captured, all selections are posted for all to see, and jobs run smoother than ever before. No "you said this and you said that." When required, a Change Order is written, posted, and approved online - even if the client is away on vacation! All scheduling is also done through Co-construct so that the client AND trades know what's going to happen and when. We aren't yet utilizing every aspect of Co-construct but we are working our way there. I can't wait for the day when using Co-construct is as habitual as waking up in the morning!

Pros

The biggest thing we like about BuilderTrend is all the features available at our fingertips. We are able to customize the software to best fit our contracting challenges and goals. The cost catalog is going to help us prepare and present proposals much more efficiently than we currently are. It also helps in training our sales reps much easier.

Cons

One thing we would like to have in our cost catalog is a way to price out square footage for decking products. As the software is right now we have to manually calculate different prices for square footage, but we are told that the development team at BuilderTrend is working on an update to meet this specific need!

Pros

This is a great tool for managing construction and remodel jobs from start to finish. There are a lot of features that can be missed if you don't take the time to learn, explore, and implement. Customer Support has been awesome to work with. They seem to really care about the need of the customer and if a feature doesn't exist and it makes sense to do it they want to make a way to include it. Plus the ability to push financial transactions to QuickBooks to avoid manual entry is great.

Cons

There are many online training tutorial videos but sometimes there are situations that help is needed that may or may not be in a video. Need a faster way to look it up. However, when we call support they usually have the answer. There are a few places in the app when dropdowns are used and the sort order is a little weird and cannot be changed. Could use a few more reporting features.
