We build 20-25 homes a year and earlier this year we started researching many construction software programs. We decided Co-construct suited us best. We love our decision. It has reduced our construction time by 18%. Our customers love having the selections, scheduling, and budget available 24/7. The conversation tab that allows you, your customer, and subcontractor to all communicate is great. The system took a little bit of a learning curve, but well worth the investment. It makes it easy to produce and make change orders. Cons CoConstruct has so many features that may not be applicable to everyone. You have to figure out what will and will not work for you company. Since implementation of this product nearly a year ago, we have streamlined and bedded down our selection processes. Our customers love the ability to follow the program as we construct the homes, and enjoy the progress photos we post. Our customers are interactively involved in our projects on our terms by using this software. The Co-Construct team is also very open to suggestions for improvements and we have seen a number of upgrades in the software in line with suggestions we made. Happy customer here! We have implemented new software before and it is always a challenge to get everyone on board and up to speed. Co-Construct has developed an initiation and training process that makes this happen easily and with a small time commitment. We are up and running and giving our customers better service. The software has also streamlined communication between the field and office and is improving how we handle change orders. We think it is one of the best business decisions we have ever made! I have never worked with a vendor who is more responsive to any needs we have had. I like that I can communicate with client through the program and don't have to worry about emails in one place and other things in another place; it's all right there. Cons I have no negative comments. This product works well for us, and clients love it. I have great things to comment on. I wish I had this to work with years ago, as after 27 years in the construction industry, this alone has made project management way easier. The more you use it the easier it is to use. I have found the process to be logical and communication driven for all parties related to the project. The vendor has been very good at providing many training opportunities and when asked questions they get back to you right away and you are not left waiting. My experience has been very positive. Cons Have not had any real issue with the product or vendor if there was any issue it was when first starting with the product and training and getting up to speed with the different time zones. When we first heard how "easy" the start-up would be, we were very skeptical. Some of our team members have been thru previous software implementation and we thought "no way" can we go live within such a short period of time. We have now been on BuilderTREND for about two months and have had five of our jobs loaded and working with our homeowners, trade partners and scheduling via the web to our amazement. Great out of the box thinking. Cons The calendar view works only from the current day forward. You cannot look at past dates and information. The front end for sales/marketing could be more robust. Pros Buildertrend gives your clients a easy to use portal for selecting options on new homes. They also helped us to save money on builders risk insurance. Cons The pay online service can a be a little cumbersome to setup and use. Ended up not using the pay online feature. It has almost everything you can think of if you can take the time to build out the templates yourself. It's a lot of material to encompass in one simple software program, especially for a custom homes builder. The messages tab could be a little better if it were more like Outlook and saved drafts and had spell check. Subcontractors and vendors should be more options as far as having multiple trades under their name, and affiliating more trades to one selection or change order because often they affect multiple contractors. BuilderTrend brings tools to the small to medium builder that before was only available to large production builders who had the ability to afford in-house software to help with the day to day activities of building.
