### "Best Inspection Software on the Market"

My experience has been great, I feel like the staff and I are family, they have always been there when I needed anything. No other company that I know of operates like that.

Pros

I have been using HIP since 2009, It is very customizable to my needs for all different application. They intrgrate with other service providers I have like ISN and RWS. The company is always looking for way to improve it based on customer request and providing updates. The customer support is second to none. They are always there when you need them and always have resolved any issues I had.

Cons

If I have to put something here, the only thing I can think of is sometimes it highlights a word to inform me spelling is wrong, But when I check, the spelling is correct.

### "Programmers Need To Spend Time In The Field "

Overall, HIP is a great software program, especially for the money, when it works right and as long as you don't need phone support on the weekends.

Pros

HIP produced really professional and easy to read reports. The software is user friendly overall and is a good value for the money.

Cons

The programmers obviously have never been inspectors out in the field, which led to a myriad of wide ranging issues. Instead of focusing on marketing bells and whistles, there should be more focus on user-related issues like, but not limited to: - Not being able to move photos around within the 4 panel Photos Section - Photo runaway when trying to rearranging photos in the damage panel, which is especially annoying. - The discontinuation and lack of phone support on the weekends is maddening. We don't have time to spend an hour in a chat frame typing and copying and pasting trying explaining an issue that could be addressed and rectified in a five minute or less phone call. - The overall lack of response to trouble tickets on the part of the programmers is a major issue. I had six open tickets still out there when I retired in November, some of which were over a year old. There is no excuse for that. - The importance of having the programmers actually ascend from Mt. Olympus and spend time in the field with inspectors utilizing the software that they design cannot be overemphasized.

### "Used to be a Five Star product."

Overall the product serves my needs, but leaves me wanting a lot more on the office side for scheduling features and Order setup features. If I do not see improvements in these areas at some point I will likely look for other options. I was a NXT user for scheduling and absolutely loved the flexibility and features within that product. It's a shame when they close down that their office interface could not have been integrated into hip office since they were owned by the same parent company.

Pros

The biggest Pro is the flexibility to adjust and tailor inspection templates to your specific needs.

Cons

Currently the support service and updating features in HIP office is the biggest downside to this product. Things that were asked about years ago, that were allegedly in the pipeline for updates still have not happened. There's also a noticeable lack of follow up from the hip team on the Facebook forums. I have gotten to the point where if I have an issue I just work backwards to resolve it myself if I can or reach out to other inspectors I know that use the product.

The best quality is the dependability. I can't think of one day where there was some nationwide issue with accessing your cloud stored info or logging into their website. Yes, there were some user error furstrations, but quickly realiazed the issue was with me and not with the company. I use the office suite as well and can atest to it having the same dependability.

Pros

As an inspector, coonsistency of the platform being used in the field is paramont. If I can't properly document conditions onsite due to a software issue then my workload doubles, reuiqring me to take notes and extra photos so I can recall everything when I get back to my office to write up the actual report. They also have not sent out any updates that end up causing computers to freeze up. Lastly, this platform is used more than any other software amoungst inspectors in my area so it makes it easy to share templates or comments that your inspector buddy has.

Cons

There are a lot of features that are not necessarily organized like Adobe, Office or other software therefore can make it a challenge when faced with an conflicting issue that has to do with the template overall layout, colors, borders or a specific font. The other issue I feel is the user interface when it comes to the cover page designer is very poor and frustrating at times. I've wasted hours messing with the cover page designer and trying to get fonts changed that either revert back or don't translate to the report even though the screen looks perfect. At minimum mach report requires manipulation of the photo to have it align propoerly. It would be nice to use a similar user interface to other design software on the market everyone else knows very well. Plus an override feature so you can manipulate any of the pages text, images, layout, borders, etc. Almost like you open the cover page designer and it is like opening your entier report in Microsoft Word or Adobe.

Mainly because of the amount of inspectors using the platform. When starting out I didn't want to be the odd man out using some proprietary software no one else around me was using. Now tons of people use Spectora and it realloy does make some beautiful HTML reports.

I came to home inspector Pro from AHIT's InspectIT. It took me a while to get past the learning curve and to learn how to edit and customize my templates the way I wanted them. I have been happy with home inspector Pro since I came over.

Pros

How customizable it is, the affordablility, and the ease of use once you get past the learning curve.

Cons

There is no way to create modules that you can copy and paste into an existing or new template to make editing and creating new templates more streamlined. I also do not like that I can't use all of the functions of my phone's camera in the app that using the camera in the app is more limited and cumbersome than I think it should be. It would be nice to have some tutorials for the office portion of it especially configuring emails and the triggers for the emails to make customizing them easier/more intuitive.

I would have to say when using HIP with 5 inspectors and trying to have them all sound like my "voice" in the finished report, was a challenge that the software has allowed us to meet. Everything can be modified comments, captions, colors, etc. We have never felt the need to change.

Pros

We have used Home Inspector Pro Software for many years. After trying many of the available systems out there we sat with \[sensitive content hidden\] and felt he was really tuned to the needs of the Home Inspector. He was willing to tweak the software so it was able to accept more photos and videos and made personalizing the report easier. We were able to use tablets and merge reports doing team inspections and each upgrade was better and better. And his tech staff have always been quick to help when we needed guidance with any issue.

Cons

As we run our own office we did not need some of the "office" features. Office light was a geed answer. The search feature in looking up past reports is not good.

### "Pro's and Cons of HIP from a multi-inspector business"

I'm still an active HIP user and hoping to refine and streamline the software to make my job faster. My team of inspectors are very motivated to create streamline ways to complete inspections in the field.

Pros

For the cost the software does all that we need. I like that we can use multiple inspectors to complete larger projects, I like that the software works with both Mac and PC users. I like that the software has added templates for our states insurance report requirements.

Cons

It is not as intuitive as some options so the reports have redundant steps that are required making the reporting more time consuming. Also we are finding that the completion of reports must be done from the desktop so we cannot finish report in the field.

Great experience overall. If I ever have a need to call or chat with tech support, all HIP team members have been very knowledgeable and resolve my request quickly.

Pros

The user interface is very intuitive. I find it easy to develop our own customer templates for different phases of home inspection. I appreciate how HIP connects with ISN to import and export information

Cons

I am not able to update one template and broadcast the new template out tom my entire team. Currently I have to update each team members template in person.

Its ok... Would like to see it more user friendly, I find I spend way too much t=time modifying and saving the templates the program is not user friendly

Pros

Interface with ISN. Photo editing is good but buttons are too close together. Leaning curve is challenging and consistent.

Cons

Not intuitive enough very cumbersome easy to make reporting errors, labor intensive. Difficult to navigate like this requested review.

Overall I am happy with the software and I must say the customer service is always ready to help me out when I need it.

Pros

It is easy to use and the reports are easy to read. Many realtors say that my reports are much better than other inspectors/software.

Cons

Some times the camera is blurry, this is a problem when you have to go back and retake pictures. This has gotten better.

Good, like everything, it’s got its off days. It does get easier the more you use it Harder for the new guys to grasp

Pros

Once research HIP and started using, it became easier. There are always something a bit extra to add and if you don’t like the addition you can go back to the original template. On the hole customer service is pretty quick.

Cons

There can be glitches, the last one took a week to sort. Price. I’ve been using this software for a long time, and recommend it all the time, I asked for a discount code I could give the trainees that come to me and never received a answer

Home Inspector Pro is very customizable and lets us build clean, professional reports that clients and agents can easily understand. The ability to create templates, drop in narratives quickly, and organize findings clearly helps us stay efficient on-site and deliver polished reports fast. The mobile app also makes inspections smoother by letting us take photos, add comments, and complete sections as we work.

Cons

The learning curve is a bit steep when first setting up templates, and some features feel dated compared to newer software. Syncing between devices can occasionally be slow, and customizing layouts or advanced settings sometimes takes more steps than it should.

Pros

Honestly at present very little positives as I have suffered a lot of issues, I don’t find it easy to use and the interface between software/hardware is challenging at times

Cons

Support coverage, we are a 24 hr business but hours are limited, need expanded ante better service hours.

Cons

Need to add AI to software when your at the inspection site, too shorten time to finish reports. Can’t add pictures to report without being connected to cell service.

I like the responsive customer support. Anytime I’ve needed an issued resolved, they’ve always taken care of it in a timely manner.

I feel like the desktop software could be updated to be more intuitive. It’s a learning curve to learn how to use it.

HIP is a "mid-level" reporting software that is a flexible no frills platform once you figure out "The lay of the land". What users of other premium software will miss is the ability to invoice the client from the software (uniformity), the ability to track reports by client, realtor, address or month, day and year and dollars. The user interface is difficult if you are migrating from another software package (lack of buttons or list). Home inspector pro utilizes a semi drop down menu which is functional and somewhat easy once the user gets used to the format. As for Mac users the support is lacking somewhat and has not kept pace with the OS upgrades and changes. HIP runs natively on the Mac, macbook equipment which is great but I don't believe the developer or support techs run natively on MACs. I have asked about adding features and tweaking functionality and have met with and made to feel that my circumstances were unique and no one else is experiencing my issues. For example if you select a narrative but do not move it into the report and you click on another component, you will get a pop up stating that you have a narrative highlighted that was not moved, when you click "ok" the screen changes to the selected component. The user then has to return to the previously selected component to address the narrative issue. My suggestion was to allow the current screen to remain active to address the narrative at which point the user can then migrate to the next component. Thereby saving several mouse clicks. That is just one of a few. The end result is a fantastic looking report with a somewhat ugly user interface that doesn't really save time or money over any other inspection software. Marketing that partially influenced my decision to purchase Home Inspector Pro. Yes, it is less expensive than other software but the user gets less features. OH, wait.. HIP allows the inspector to add video to the report which would be great but I have not been able to use that function and all video tutorials are specific to windows users. If you like the idea of using your smart phone or tablet you will need to shell out a monthly fee to allow transfer of the report back and forth between computer and tablet or phone. I never know what my month is going to look like so I don't want to commit to another monthly billing. It is an ok product. I think if there was another software that ran natively on the Mac that was not a lease type I might have a look.

Up to this point I would have given HIP straight 5 stars but with this latest change have caused me to revisit my thoughts

Pros

I’ve been using HIP for 8 years. 6 of those years through another company. It’s easy to use, the reports are one of the best once it’s set up.

Cons

The 4 Point reports are often rejected by insurance companies because the reports look like a standard home inspection report. I’m tired of trying to explain to them that it’s ok. And now the Wind Mit software has changed to their version and I don’t understand it!

Pros

First of all this software is easy to use and navigate. Second, customers and realtors constantly state how easy the reports are to read.
