Overall, our experience with Applied Epic has been positive. The platform offers a broad range of functionality and supports many of the workflows required to operate an insurance brokerage efficiently. The biggest learning curve is getting users comfortable with the system and making sure workflows are configured properly. Once users are familiar with it, Applied Epic provides a solid foundation for managing commercial insurance business and keeping information organized.

Pros

Applied Epic provides a comprehensive platform for managing the day-to-day operations of an insurance brokerage. It does a good job of keeping client, policy, document, activity, and renewal information organized in one place. The workflow and automation capabilities can help reduce manual administrative work, particularly around renewals, follow-ups, and routine servicing tasks. Having a centralized system also makes it easier for different team members to access the information they need and maintain continuity when accounts are transferred between staff.

Cons

The system can feel complex and sometimes requires a significant amount of training for new users. Some workflows are not as intuitive as they could be, and completing certain tasks can involve more steps than expected, especially after the new update that came out.

So far it's been good. We are not yet using it to it's full potential but it is capable of so much. Definitely more efficient for big business that have in house staff working of configuration. When the broker/manager is also the tech person, the time it takes to create things there are lots left undone.

Pros

The ability to have a next level of automation. Creating task, digital marketing to clients and client based applications, really brings a new level of customer service.

Cons

Downside moving from TAM to EPIC, somethings do feel repetitive. Template setup is cumbersome, loading broker signatures is a process if you aren't super techy. Losing document writer when we went to the web base version was unfortunate. Receipts are unnecessarily long. losing transaction history (albeit it went to an activity) was also a pain point.

Switched from

TAM was becoming obsolete, we have no choice but to switch.

Overall I’ve had a good experience with Applied Epic. For a business ready to invest in training and setup, it gives a lot of value and helps centralize workflows. If you’re in a smaller agency or expecting very minimal setup/training, you might find it takes more time upfront to get real benefit.

Pros

Applied Epic has been a strong tool for our agency — it brings client info, policy files, documents, tasks and reporting into one system so things don’t feel scattered. I especially like how activities and reminders are built in (they help keep follow-ups from slipping through). Several users say it improved their efficiency compared to older systems.

Cons

There’s definitely a learning curve: the number of features means it takes some time to really feel comfortable and efficient in it. Occasionally processes feel slower or “click-heavy” for simpler tasks. Also, the cost and implementation (especially for smaller brokerages) has been raised as a concern.

A daily life saver. After 25 years in my industry, (Insurance), it is the most user friendly platform I've used.

Pros

The consolidation of information and documents for accounts. Having user friendly access to all information in one place.

Cons

Even after using daily for over 2 years, There are still so many functions that would probably be useful but i haven had the chance to learn them.

Switching from TAM to Epic was a breeze. At first we were very worried with switching systems, but it has been nothing short of the best. It has saved me hours of time daily to produce new business, whilst also auditing myself at the same time.

Pros

Epic is extremely easy to use, making it the most user friendly system to use. The activities are a huge perk for reminders and tasks.

Cons

There are certain points where Epic will continually load, but it is generally resolved within a moment.

Everything you could want from an AMS is in here somewhere

Cons

Epic is one of the most outdated, clunky, and un-user friendly software systems out there. You will spend the majority of the day clicking from screen to screen, not actually accomplishing anything. The software requires extensive training just to be able to be used at the most basic level. It will waste your agency time, not save it.

If you were using a different software as far as transitioning over was very easy. There are a lot of features that EPIC has. I like that policies can be downloaded into EPIC. Also, your mail it attached directly into EPIC to attach to a client file, and you don't have to have the paper mail on our desk.
