### "PlanSwift - end user"

September 30, 2020

4.0

We needed to quickly generate takeoff estimates for new home projects in order to provide bids to our builders. Also need to handle large plan sets when builders change models. The software replaced a manual "paper & pencil" method with handmade customs scales made for each builder - which changed over time. The software allows for much more precise estimates and changes to material types made easily and quickly. Also, able to generate material order sheets for suppliers.

Pros

A wide array of file formats supported for importing plans from builders and its potential for integrating with other construction management and collaboration tools.

Cons

Software is hard-coded to call Internet Explorer and ignore other browsers, even if the default is set in Windows. Project files are saved by default in the Program Files (x86)\\PlanSwift10\\subdirectories - poor design choice! It takes some tinkering to redirect the default save locations.

### "1000's of lost hours"

February 11, 2017

4.0

I recently logged in to complete a new project's takeoff and realized that all of my previous projects had been permanently lost. I basically lost thousands of hours of takeoff and had to redo multiple projects just to be able to bid new projects. I have also been looking to add an earthwork plugin and recently found out that they are no longer selling these plugins and couldn't tell me when or if they would ever be selling these again.

Pros

Ease of use.

Cons

Lost projects. No longer selling pluggins.

### "Great takeoff tool, but struggles with collaborative efforts"

June 21, 2018

4.0

If the program could find a better way to be collaborative, we would benefit greatly.

Pros

The takeoff abilities of the software are phenomenal. There is nothing to complain about when it comes to its ability to count/calculate objects, areas, assemblies, etc.

Cons

A continued struggle is finding a way for teams to collaborate on takeoffs when team members are in multiple geographic locations. We have tried using their email function, but this can be a slow and tedious process. In addition, we utilize Box for cloud storage, but have found it cumbersome to keep things working in a seamless, and fast fashion.

### "PlanSwift offers a top of the line product"

July 23, 2015

4.5

Pros

PlanSwift offers a wide variety of tools and calculation methods to save the estimator time. The joist/rafter tool is the feature that pulled me to the buying decision. The speed with which I can prepare layouts with various on-center spacing and direction changes is incredible. The hip/valley measuring tool also saves me the trouble of pulling a calculator. Now I can provide concise, color coded layouts to clients along with a bill of materials needed for the job. The measuring flexibility and speed of PlanSwift is also unbeaten in my experience of using scales, wheels, digitizers and other on-screen tools. All of my measurements can be color coded and saved. When I need a clean sheet to measure another item, I can simply click to 'turn off' or 'show' any or all measurements to either leave a clean measuring page or print cut-sheets. When I question a measurement, every measurement is clearly recorded on the screen and can be verified at any time. Even when I click an incorrect point when performing a take-off, I do not have to start over. All I do is hit a key to remove that point and my take-off and I can proceed as if I didn't make an error.

Cons

The labeling feature does not yet allow the estimator to place labels at various angles (for example, along a hip board). In addition, building assemblies to take-off multiple types of materials is not possible without extensive knowledge of programming.

### "Best takeoff software on the market!"

November 19, 2018

5.0

This is the best software for anyone doing takeoffs as an estimator.

Pros

I love this take off software. I am able to do sf, lnft, roofs with the pitch, quantity, etc. and I can do them in different colors for ease.

Cons

I love everything about this product. I honestly have nothing bad to say about it except that when you try to have higher resolution uploads, it will sometimes stop the program.

### "Straightforward software with easy-to-use tools"

June 5, 2014

4.0

Pros

\- Straightforward and easy to use. - QTOs are faster than on PDF writer, which allows measuring - Able to scale drawings based on manual reference lines - Ability to overlay drawings and compare revisions - Video tutorials under the help heading - Being able to turn off unneeded digitized elements to reduce clutter/overlap on the screen - Ability to load multiple drawings into one project and quickly jump back and forth - Magnifying tool

Cons

\- Method of saving to network or hard drive; cannot move the files once saved or risk corruption. - Not being able to change the name or color of an element once digitized without changing all of the elements of that type (For example, partition drawn as Type A but should be Type B. Renaming the element changes all the Type A elements on the page). - Would like to see 1:75 and 1:400 as metric scale options - Not being able to provide a QTO summary of each page of a multi-page project; currently have to make unique names for each floor - Would like to see a way to customize what is shown in the legend (would like to be able to turn the quantities on and off). - Using one scale for a whole page; sometimes multiple scales are present on one page.

### "Has some of the Best Features in the Industry"

August 21, 2018

4.0

This is a really powerful program that is packed with features and tool. Customer support is great. I would recommend this as an option for those looking for takeoff and estimating software.

Pros

Packed with Tools. Scaling is easy and it makes reviewing addenda a breeze with the overlay features. Improvements to the assembly have made this one of the best takeoff programs.

Cons

I wish it had support to have multiple users working simultaneously basically a cloud version would be amazing.

### "Great for estimating "

March 1, 2018

4.0

Pros

This is a great tool for taking quick takeoffs. Allows you to upload whole plan sets or individual pages depending on need. The takeoff functions snap to lines seamlessly provide quick and accurate measurements.

Cons

Spending a little time on the front end can make estimating various construction trades easier, however this process is lengthy and will probably turn most casual users off.

### "Review"

July 25, 2019

4.0

It's very good for takeoff.

Pros

Easy to use, accurate if you are with your inputs.

Cons

Lately, tech support has been very difficult to get in touch with. If you get a live person on their end it's usually "I'll get a technician to call you back". Then I guess you're just supposed to sit at your computer and wait, usually hours or into the next day. This never used to be the case (I have used the software for ten or more years). It seems every time they get bought, the problem gets worse. Probably trying to squeeze more money out of the company.

### "Good product and good value"

July 3, 2018

5.0

Pros

It is the very simple concept, and it just works every time out. And now I can have it integrated with my estimating software.

Cons

Not much I can think of, maybe I want to ask for a "smart" conversion that can automatic link you to different reference in the drawing set.

### "Awesome takeoff software"

October 16, 2017

4.0

Pros

Easy to use. I can quickly find values such as square footages, linear footages and counts.

Cons

File storage could be better. When competing with software such as Microsoft word a certain level of user experience is expected. It's hard to move lots of files. But you just have to plan ahead.

May 22, 2019

Love the software, hate the support.

Pros

Cons

EASILY, the customer service. They never pick up, it's the same voicemail, no answers to my questions or issues when I need it. It's incredibly frustrating.

The customer service and technical support is good

Pros

I like the usability and functionality of the software. The Sales Rep is always available for questions and will address any questions we have.

Cons

I've only had one issue with importing blueprints, but the technical support was good. I wish there was a better price point for monthly use.

### "Minor issues"

March 16, 2015

4.0

The software is a great tool indeed to document, review and calculate every single detail o the plans. Planswift version 9.5 gets very slow as the project pages grow and the number of takeoffs increase. I would really love to see this problem solved in the near future. Also when I receive the new addenda on the plans, I would love to see the software has a way to archive the old plans in the same document. Overall it is a great help and fabulous tool to us as estimators and I personally do not know how to do my job faster without PS:) Keep it up and Many Thanks

Response from ConstructConnect

March 19, 2015

Maral, Thank you for your review and comments! I checked with our Technical Support manager regarding the problems you're having: "As you're pulling in a new addendum, you can organize them in a different folder so that they will stand out from the old set of plans. This is one way of archiving the old to separate them out from the new. For a majority of users, speed hasn't been a problem. It really comes down to how many items you have on your page. For those people that have large, extremely takeoff-heavy jobs, we will continue to work on performance improvements. When developing for the future, performance is one of our top concerns. " I sure hope this makes your organization much easier. If you need any help or clarification, please call 888-752-6794 ext 2 Thanks again!

### "Quick and accurate estimating!! "

September 18, 2017

5.0

The ability to quickly and accurately provide the best pricing to our customers.

Pros

The speed at which we were able to get new people up on the software is a big bonus and really helps with the fast pace of business.

Cons

Exporting to excel can sometimes be touchy but that is rare. Otherwise this is definitely the way to go for getting quickly started in construction estimating.

### "Planswift Ease of use"

August 4, 2020

5.0

Overall once I did some trial and error with some of the tools the app has become much easier to use

Pros

The ease of use for missing measurements and the ability to highlight the areas in question is remarkably easy to use. Impressed by the feature that allows for a total linear footage

Cons

The only thing that I would say that for someone of my age it took awhile for me to figure out how to use some of the tools

### "Have someone help you learn to use the product before you pay $1500 with training included. "

April 8, 2015

2.0

They were very responsive while purchasing their software but not so much after spending nearly $1500 for the program, upgrades, and training. I, like many purchasing this product, am a small business owner. I purchased during a slow time of the year (working 2-3 days a week). I was told to call ahead to schedule a slot of time where a planswift expert would help train me on how to use the software. This was an upgrade I paid around $300 for. "Call a day or two in advance", I was told to confirm a time that will work. After several attempts of being told that nothing is available for the whole week and sometimes the following week too, I've given up for now. Being that it was a slow time of the year, I was booking my weeks as work was available and didn't really know how my Wednesday two weeks out at 1pm was going to be. Hopefully, I'd have work rather than waiting to learn how to use a software program that I spent 3x as much as I paid for my computer. The program seems like a helpful tool for a business owner if they a able to get the proper training. As of now, I am only using the very most basic functions of the software (Mostly learned on my own, some from the 15 minutes the salesman will spend on the phone teaching you before you buy). After you've paid it is difficult to the training you are entitled to.

### "PlanSwift Estimating"

December 13, 2016

5.0

PlanSwift is an excellent take-off tool but a little intimidating when you try to use it beyond that. We recently made the decision to do both our take-off and estimating in PlanSwift. With a minimal investment of time, I was able to input our item database and begin to write assemblies for various common take-off tasks. One of the big payoffs for this was that we entered commonly used formulas and simplified the estimating process. No longer do I have to do a take-off and then do a separate calculation with that quantity. PlanSwift automatically creates separate 'parts' and calculates totals for individual materials when I use the proper assembly.

Pros

The information is taken off and not re-entered in a separate spreadsheet or program.

Cons

Assemblies are relatively basic. Timberline assemblies will choose items from a database for you simply by answering a few questions. PlanSwift assemblies have to be built for a specific material type or the parts need to be selected manually.
