Pros This software absolutely streamlines the takeoff process and then compiles easy to use reports. Cons The small item cost database. Developing an entire cost database on your own is VERY time consuming. The techs are very knowledgeable, friendly and will take time to teach and answer your questions. It has many features, some of which I do not use, whoever most likely should be. The program was the most cost effective and is great value for the money. You can use it for very basic quantity take-off or you can build formulas to figure out multiple materials for complete materials lists for a build with a single click of a button. Trust me I have been looking for drywall estimating programs for 40 years. I stoped when I found PlanSwift. Pros Lets face it, paper plans are obsolete. If you are going to be successful in the drywall business today, you need to get with the program. Computer software estimating programs are the only way you will be competitive in this industry from now on. This is the best program for the money and NOTHING else compares to it. PlanSwift is as powerful as any other estimating software in the construction industry. By NO means let the price fool you. Cons There are not any Cons this program is the truth. February 20, 2017 3.0 I've been using Planswift for about ten years and think it's a good program but not great. Basic functions are easy, however, getting deep into the programs features are complicated time consuming. Pros Price and ease of use for basic functions. Cons Customer support! They never take your call right away. Be prepared to wait a couple hours for a callback. I've even waited three days before they called me back. They are good but you will be waiting. Plus they have great add-ons like the ability to take off an existing property using google maps! I am very comfortable with the take-off aspect. I look forward to getting proficient at using the estimating side of the software this year. Pros It significantly reduced the time I spend doing take-offs. It is a powerful software, but fairly easy to start using on a basic level. Cons Technical support is not always easy to get ahold of. I have no complaints. When i had issues, i contacted customer service and they helped me with my issues very quickly. Great program, i would recommend to anyone in my field of expertise. Pros Very easy to use, very easy to learn Cons Downloading some drawings can be time consuming. Good understanding of Excel is helpful but not absolutely necessary. My only complaint is with the reporting tools. seam to by mysterious in their functionality. (even to tech support) All i all a great value and have already helped in streamlining our estimating. January 27, 2017 3.0 Works good for simple functions, but need to be a computer programmer to use for estimating. Oracle recently purchased the software and discontinued the "plugins". You literally need to be a computer programmer to use for detailed estimates. I do simple square foot take offs and plug into excel spreadsheets to make it easier for me. Pros A lot of functions for taking offs, sharing, and measuring. Cons You need to be a computer programmer to use for estimating. Review Source RH Robert H. It is straight-forward and simple to use. Pros Easy to understand, quick, accurate, minimal errors, things get done faster with this program. Cons A little more than we would like to spend on it but overall worth it. It did shut down on me once but I have not had problems since, can be slow when first starting up. Review Source TG Tony G. President Used the software for: ### "Very happy with Planswift - Easy to Learn and Use in everyday estimating" April 2, 2015 5.0 We have had Planswift for 4 years now. We are still using it on a daily basis. It turned a task that was several hours in the making, to minutes. The networking is simple to use and manage. It has much more than we use it for and we grow more into it all the time. We are very happy with the cost and the maintenance costs. The license works out for us too, because we can use the software sporadically over many participants, but don't have to have a license for everyone (unless they all need it at the same time, which is not what we need). We have recommended this software to many people in the construction industry. Any problems we had, which were few and mostly questions about use, were handled promptly without delay. The walkthrough with the technician was very insightful and answered all of my questions thouroughly. I will definitely be taking classes with planswift in the future to broaden my knowledge and learn small tips and tricks about the software. Cons The software could have a better user interphase. Cons The only thing I do not like is the amount of training that is offered for this product. With the rise in the need to streamline overheads in the industry plan swift uses its software to take the guess and leg work out of estimating, the software calculates building lineal and square meters just by uploading the project drawings a grea feature. For the basics of just taking off quantities it's great and fast. But that's just the beginning. Once you start using the parts and assemblies features, it gets even better, faster and more precise. You can customize the software to meet your own specific needs whether your a General Contractor, Subcontractor or Specialty Contractor. Using material and labor cost and production rates specific to your industry and company you can create parts and assemblies, nest assemblies inside of assemblies, generate estimates, proposals and reports specific to your needs not some software designer. June 12, 2014 5.0 Pros We are a small business and wanted something inexpensive and easy to use. I didn't even buy the training, as it is self-explanatory! I started using it right away and only had one hiccup. The online tutorial says to do a test line on each drawing. Well, I was having such good luck I stopped doing it, which was a big mistake! One set of drawings were sent over not to scale! Make sure you listen to the tutorial and do a test line. I love this software! Cons I can't say I have found anything I would change! We found out the they were purchased by another company. If this is the case, be honest about it and not have the reps give out misleading information. Very good value for money compared to the other packages on the market Integrates with excel and being able to import your own template is great. Con's include = It would be very useful for it to give you the option of a take off per drawing or the total quantity of items on the complete project when you go into the estimating tab. We submitted a tender for a 5 floor building and then our client wanted a break down per floor, we had to revert back to the individual drawings to extract the quantities from the total. We didn't need all the bells and whistles that came with some other programs. I just needed a good takeoff tool for digital prints. Cost was also a determining factor. Cons Some of the features (Auto count, Freehand) noted in the product information were not ready and were not included in the install. I had used similar products before and had little trouble learning the program and setting up the templates, but despite multiple phone calls for some special questions, my representative never called me back. March 26, 2015 5.0 When I first started at my current employer, everything was done by hand with a scale. Planswift has helped bring our Purchasing and Estimating Department out of the stone ages! The software is so easy to use that I can have entry level employees up and running in no time at all. Plus our take-offs can be sent electronically to subcontractors, project managers, and more. Not only are we saving trees by not using so much paper, we save employee time, and our costs to build are validated accurately so we can identify any discrepancies in the bids we receive. Generating spreadsheets and reviewing old jobs for pricing was becoming much too time consuming, and other office related work was suffering. I searched for programs that would allow me to streamline my bidding process. I found it in PlanSwift. After a brief initial tutorial from an online company representative, I was able to generate a bid I felt comfortable submitting in one work day - where before it would have taken a week or more. Pros very intuitive and easy to navigate through the takeoff commands. I really like the option to be able to print out my takeoff right on the page it was taken off on.
