Pros: ODI allows to choose where collocate the trasformation area (Source, Target or other). ODI has so many connectors for the main data sources / destinations. ODI allow to customize the behavior the own connectors

Cons: Very few update for connectors. Very high pricing if not in bundle with other products. SAP connectors very expensive and hard to use

Capterra-loader

ODI is a complete product in terms of data transformation tools.

Pros:

Some benefits of the product are the capacity of integration with multiple sources of data, using connectors. It supports a wide variety of data sources and destinations. It has robust qualities such as programming of transformation tasks, as well as the tracking of said processes.

ODI has precedents in terms of performance, that is, if the priority of an organization is the processing of information volumes, having at hand a robust but flexible tool then ODI is a great option.

The way in which ODI is built in its architecture, allows changes to be made quickly, with ease from a technical perspective but with a great impact for business areas.

ODI offers a really competitive tool to integrate with 3rd parties sources such:

IBM DB2, Teradata, Sybase IQ and another protocols like plain text files, ERP, LDAP and XML.

Cons: Access to documentation, but is rewarded by the wide range of courses offered by Oracle to specialists in the area

Overall:

Mainly performance.

Reliability and robustness

An endorsement of a brand.

flexibility

Ability to integrate with other tools

We use ODI to for our data warehouse.

Pros: We converted our datwarehouse from OWB to ODI. ODI is faster than OWB. Learning curve was easier and lots of resources available online and the Oracle team was really helpful .

Cons: cloud Services were down without informing us. Uploading binary files to ODI was not easy and we had to raise a service request and use the sqlplus for loading the binary file. SCD's are handles differently in ODI than OWB.

Overall: ODI is much better and faster tha OWB and it can connect to any RDBMS and we can use any programming language to communicate with ODI

Pros: It is a very powerful tool, deeply integrated with the Oracle world. Very often it is inserted in solutions such as BI

Cons: the price is not very low so its adoption must be carefully evaluated

Overall: I will definitely use it again

It's very heavy product to use, implementation and troubleshooting makes cumber-sum for the users.

Pros: In latest version it comes up with integrating with Oracle Service Oriented Architecture services, and vice versa and it enables users to automate end to end business functionality across the products.

Cons: Not easy to use, requires proper understanding on the tool how it works and also requires more resources

Pros: Flexible, easy to use, learn and work in it, I like the way you get to customize it, it has out of the box connectors that make your life easier

Cons: The use of the ODI studio, because it is slow and you end up without RAM and it force you to restart the program and that makes your work slow

Pros: Integration with Oracle products

Cons: Lack of support from Oracle.

Overall: I have used the Data Integrator on a regular basis, and have had nothing but issues with the service team. Rumor has it that in 2017 service will be a premium, paid feature. No thanks!

Recommendations to other buyers: Look elsewhere. Staq makes a great product.
