Graduate Student Design Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "My go-to device for survey" June 12, 2020 4.0 My experience so far is great, it will remain my primary survey too. Pros The "heatmap" feature is awesome. Now, I know it was probably designed for something else; but I used it to have participants marking spots on a human figure for injures/pains. It helps me improve certain high performance human designs. The "display logic" is another great feature, easy to use too. Cons The suggested options are a little off, when you ask a yes or no question, the system always give you five suggested option, and you will have to delete the extra ones. The different options makes it easy to work with. Pros It is easy to navigate and get things done. I love using the software because there a lot of options I can use to meet my research needs. The improved version looks nice too. Cons It is so slow moving from one tab to another. It doesn't have the open in a mew tab option too. It would have been so much helpfull if it had the later function. Researcher Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Easy-access questionnaires" March 8, 2018 4.0 Pros Qualtrics is pretty powerful, yet it remains "accessible," with a very easy learning curve. At its essence, it is a backend for designing questionnaires. Basic features include your typical types of questions (multiple choice, radio boxes, checkboxes, free-text entry, etc.). Advanced features include display logic and sub-questionnaires. You may distribute via email invitations and monitor questionnaire completion. Finally, it has some rudimentary analysis tools that can give you some descriptive statistics. Export options include .CSV, if you want to get the data into Excel or some other tool for more complicated analysis. Cons Don't try to do anything fancier than descriptive statistics. But you can export data pretty easily to do analysis and/or visualization elsewhere. Review Source MB Michael B. We have had no issues in the field with storing survey responses on our tablets, and then uploading them once back in internet range. Any issues we've had, or questions as far as question development goes, have been addressed immediately by the wonderful support staff. Qualtrics continues to be the best resource for our social research needs. Pros Easy display transfer between computer and device (e.g. tablet, smartphone). Extremely high level of customization in regards to types of questions you can create. Ease of creating projects and managing them on the Qualtrics homepage. Easy to sync stored survey responses and upload them to the database. Exceptional customer support. Cons Somewhat of a steep learning curve with all the options provided for developing and creating different types of questions. The new platform makes it even easier than it was when we started using it. Pros Versatility. We use it for class registration and follow-up evaluations. Cons It would be nice if we could consolidate duplicates on more than just email because many of our participants share an email with each other or use them to register their employees. Pros I love how versatile and powerful Qualtrics is. It enables me to build a wide range of surveys and easily disseminate and analyze them. Cons It is expensive. I don't love how they've broken the product into different sections and require you to pay for each one. Pros Qualtrics has made my quantitative and mixed method research easy with its user friendliness! The preloaded survey choice options (from likert scale to adding photos in answers) are enough for designing any sort of survey you are planning to conduct! Cons I honestly do not dislike anything. I think the sharing option for editing a survey could be made a little obvious rather than hidden somewhere and that's just it. Pros I use this software for research included in my graduate program. I love the library of surveys where I can essentially just plug and go. It is hard enough coming up with the research topics so this makes it easier to actually gather the data needed. Qualtrics' built in surveys also offer attention-checks for if you are posting the software to sites like mturk. This program is really easy to learn and is intuitive to use, and it is cost effective. Cons Previewing the survey is difficult and doesn't always show the best view. I've experienced this as both a researcher and a user on mturk taking surveys. I've noticed some of the built in attention checks are incorrect or the sliding scales (agree, strongly disagree) are off. The backend logic are not too difficult to undestand and if you should get stuck you can get alot of support from video tutorials, and personal support. Cons The software costs are a little on the steep side but do not really have a comparable industry average to benchmark against. It would be good if they offered a third sector discount. I have fielded numerous surveys, and Qualtrics has had every feature I needed for any question type I wanted to include and any panel design I wanted to utilize. Also, the Qualtrics support staff has been willing and able to help me with any question I had about complex survey designs. Finally, Qualtrics is so easy to use that I teach my undergraduate students how to design and administer surveys for one of my classes. Pros Extremely user friendly program. Powerful platform to field surveys with any and all question types. I have gotten extremely helpful, knowledgeable, friendly service with my questions about survey design, account issues, and email recruitment very time that I have contacted the Qualtrics support staff. Cons some of the more advanced features are not well documented. i had to reach out to customer support (but the customer support was great!) Pros The ease of use. Very fluid and intuitive design that allows you to focus on your research. Cons Customer support was slow. Yet, given that the software is fairly straightforward, it ended up not being a major issue. Reason for choosing XM for Strategy & Research Because of great experience with the trial-version. I have used it to design surveys and experiments on many occasions. It is very easy to use and if you get stuck its customer service is fantastic. I prefer it over other survey design tools due to its superior features such as the order of question presentation and randomization, which is essential in experimental designs. Qualtrics makes it easy to collaborate with others on surveys. The appearance and design of surveys can also easily be manipulated. While I generally analyze the survey results myself, it is always nice to see that Qualtrics provides additional descriptive data analysis and figures for the gathered data. November 7, 2017 5.0 I have the ability to create a survey and distribute it almost immediately! I can also copy previous surveys so I'm not "recreating the wheel". This has made my life much easier and made the most of my time in terms of surveying. It's great to have this software at my fingertips and ready to go at all times! Pros I love the ease of using Qualtrics. The interface is very user-friendly and quite self-explanatory. I can add as many questions as I'd like and customize them individually. I love the ability to look at responses in real-time, without waiting until my survey is complete. This system as allowed me to streamline our scholarship application and reporting processes, instead of doing the two separately. Cons I think the software is great, however, I would love the ability to personalize the design layout. Sometimes our surveys can look very cold and general, so it'd be great to add more color, etc. I do not think this outweighs all of the great things Qualtrics does, it would just be a way to put it on the next level!
