System Administrator Architecture & Planning Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Benchmark Estimating Software (My Point Of View)" August 14, 2021 5.0 It's a great quotation generator, it comes with a "progress claims" feature which I have come to love and it is a flexible software that allows me to import some of my most important spreadsheet templates with ease. Pros Out of the 3 versions that were available, (Lite/Professional/Corporate) the Pro series was significant for my needs. It caters for a multitude of businesses that I run so that was a huge bonus for me. I have to say that the support I got from the Benchmark team was beneficial to such an extent, that I became way more confident with my ability to use the software in a short span of time. Kudos to them for that. Cons It is a bit of an uphill battle to get acquainted with the user interface if you've never dealt with software like this before, and that was were I was coming from. Reason for choosing Benchmark Estimating Software I had never heard of this software before until one of my work colleagues from a company I used to work for suggested it to me. Estimator Construction Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Average product with the worst customer support of any product or service on the planet" October 17, 2021 2.0 Wish we picked another software. Pros Auto allocate, library, shortcuts, cloud access is convenient. Cons Customer support is the worst, even when there are bugs with their own software. Some of the processes are more complicated than needed. Being hosted on the cloud means you can't access your filesystem easily. The whole software is a blackbox where you don't know how/why it does certain things, and some features will be locked for no reason. Eg there is a Custom Reports feature but its severely dumbed down where you can't export every field that you need. Review Source JB Jeffrey B. Pros Integrating into our business was a given as we needed a robust system. The feature like variable and production rates are great. The libraries are easy to manage and build upon. Routines are a fantastic tool for any business. The latest calculator is very powerful. The project Comparator is a great innovation to be able to compare estimates from one design phase to the next, or to be able to compare a quote/tender from the market against your estimate. Cons There were some features early on when we started with Benchmark, but true to their word the development team have been able to expand upon. Pros How simple it is - and how the software does the adding and subtotalling for you - no messy hand typed calculation lines. Cons Some of the standard reports need a good tweaking. It has evolved over the years through constant development to be very comprehensive estimating software. Benchmark has saved me significant time while improving accuracy and consistency. My previous employer used a different estimating software that I grew to be fairly familiar with over time, however, after first opening Benchmark my first impression was how friendly the user interface projected! I was pleasantly surprised from the previous estimating software that I had been exposed to. This initial experience with Benchmark made me feel comfortable using the software from the start and I was always prompted to continue exploring the software on my own, being the sole user of the software at the time. I had no problem picking up the software and learning any new features with time. I have found it to be an efficient and powerful estimating tool, given the library, inputs are kept as true to the works that we had successfully done in the past. I would happily recommend Benchmark estimating software to companies of any size, from tier 1 to tier 3. I can see why it is as popular as it is, and I hope to learn more about Benchmark throughout my career. Pros User-friendly interface. Library data which is readily available. Easy setup and change as you want to change things along the way. Would like to work and see how to utilise the program in full, with a entity that really uses the program to it's full potential.
