Pros Being able to control my own database! Uploading my documents and being able to work in the database on my time, with no vendor related lag time. Lexbe is very user friendly and cost effective. Cons Adobe fillable forms and certified signature forms won't load into the viewers. Unfortunately, you don't know how many of those you have in a data set until after they are loaded and processed with place holders. We are glad we have been able to assist in identifying these un-converted forms. These types of layered PDFs can be reviewed from the Original tab. By default, the Lexbe eDiscovery platform provides corresponding original files as supplement in all standard productions, so these types of files can be produced as well. In the event that the PDFs are desired to display in the PDF tab, they can be converted offline and merged into the PDF tab with the Original tab still maintaining the fillable version. KM Kerry M. It made the discovery process much more complex than it should have been for production of 50,000 documents. Additionally, we were charged an hourly rate for support (with no disclosure of the fees) when we needed help correcting issues the software created. Pros The best thing about this software was the demonstration during the sales pitch, which made it seem like an incredible software which would be highly user friendly and beneficial to my clients and practice. Cons \* Review of documents did not flow smoothly - lots of time scrolling and clicking to review \* For production it forced us to produce the native PDF as well as the bates numbered PDF (confusing for counsel and duplicative) \* On PST files, attachments were loaded into the bates numbered documents as "placeholders" leaving opposing counsel to guess which native email each bates numbered email went to in order to locate the attachments. \* Opposing counsel could not open the files from the production links Review Source DK Dean K. These often involve a smaller entity or even an individual taking on a large company. Lexbe has been helpful to us in data collection in responding to discovery and reviewing documents obtained in discovery. We have some experience with other online programs. We find that they are not as user friendly, and they are separate from the e-discovery vendor that consults and collects the data. This leads to a breakdown in support. The level of customer service at Lexbe is truly superior. Fast to respond. Explanations are understandable and advice is practical and easy to implement. We couldn't be more pleased. Pros Lexbe is a user friendly but still very powerful e-discovery tool. Cons I am hard pressed to find a drawback in Lexbe. I hope that it continues to find more widespread use because that will facilitate cooperation with other counsel. Automatic OCR and the search abilities have significantly enhanced our e-discovery process. Being able to unredact redactions that we had previously made. Cons The only minor thing we don't like is that the redaction boxes are white/"x" and not black. We prefer black but that's a personal preference point. We've also already submitted a feature request, which is really nice that Lexbe takes user feedback seriously. I like that the more complex uploads are handled by Professional Services. I also appreciate the simplicity of the interface. Cons Some of the Help articles and videos need to be updated. After a search is run, the total document hit count appears in the top banner. The fields displayed on the Search page can be adjusted and Page Count is an available field. The Lexbe eDiscovery Platform (LEP) has a built in Hot Doc tag that works independently of Notes. Notes can be added to an individual document when it is displayed in the Doc Viewer and is also an available filter so one can isolate all documents with Notes on them. Our Professional Services staff is always on call, so we recommend reaching out with any questions as they are very knowledgable and are extremely helpful in explaining the functionality of LEP. As a cloud-based platform, our firm is not restricted to our computers and can review case exhibits from virtually anywhere. This is particularly useful when someone is unable to be in the office but still needs to complete work. I appreciate using the briefcase exporting feature because I have a couple of attorneys who prefer not to review documents within the platform. With this feature, I can easily convert documents and deliver them more quickly than if I were to do a full production, especially when the documents are not yet ready for production. Pros Lexbe is known for its professional and prompt services, making it the ideal choice for handling complex projects. The analysis tab provides different angles of a search that the attorney may have overlooked initially. Its numerous search and filtering options ensure that finding a document is nearly foolproof. Features like Co-Pilot have been invaluable for enhancing witness summaries and understanding information more effectively. Cons However, the platform's lack of user-friendliness can be a drawback. This is something that I've noticed that some of our older attorneys are hesitant to use the system. Despite its many search and filter options, it can be challenging to locate a document, especially for new users who may feel overwhelmed by the multitude of choices. It would be helpful to be able to sort while in the reviewing part. I think it would be beneficial to have an easier way to save a filter where you can name it and have it saved globally through the system. For example, if there is a special search I like to use to help remove non-responsive materials, I would like to be able to use that same search in other cases. I believe it would be helpful for billing purposes to pay for the OpenAI through the Lexbe platform, especially since it is only charged whenever you use the Co-Pilot add-on. It would be great to figure out a way to charge it to that specific case.
