Finally moved us away from emailing documents to each other or storing them on several flash drives. Pros I love being able to contact Lexbe whenever I have any questions. Their customer service team is incredibly nice, quick, and helpful. Cons Some parts of the platform are not immediately intuitive but pretty easy to learn over time. Pros Lexbe is super easy to learn and use, and is an incredible value. Layout and user interface is much more straight forward than other more costly platforms. You will find ways to use Lexbe's document processing capabilities for other document and communications analyses not necessarily related to discovery. The upload process is so quick and easy and the cost is so reasonable Lexbe becomes a tool you will use almost every day. Once you gain proficiency with Lexbe you will be surprised with how quickly and accurately you can respond to any case research question an attorney might have. It made the discovery process much more complex than it should have been for production of 50,000 documents. Additionally, we were charged an hourly rate for support (with no disclosure of the fees) when we needed help correcting issues the software created. Pros The best thing about this software was the demonstration during the sales pitch, which made it seem like an incredible software which would be highly user friendly and beneficial to my clients and practice. Cons \* Review of documents did not flow smoothly - lots of time scrolling and clicking to review \* For production it forced us to produce the native PDF as well as the bates numbered PDF (confusing for counsel and duplicative) \* On PST files, attachments were loaded into the bates numbered documents as "placeholders" leaving opposing counsel to guess which native email each bates numbered email went to in order to locate the attachments. \* Opposing counsel could not open the files from the production links Review Source CC Christie C. Cons The production features could be improved. Namely, the privilege marking, placeholder production when encountering incompatible document formats or otherwise problematic files, and the length of time it takes for the system to process and Bates stamp a production can be frustrating, time consuming, and occasionally lead to discovery disputes between parties. We take client feedback very serious and are constantly implementing changes to improve the Lexbe eDiscovery Platform. The time it takes for a production to run can vary depending on file size and type. Our target is for all producitons to run with one business day and the vast majority run in that time frame. When possible, we encourage planning to run a production a few days before the deadline to allow time in the event unforseen issues arise. With that said, we also understand time is of the essance and encourage clients to reach out to our Professional Services staff when a rush job arises so that they can monitor progress from the beginning and intervene as needed. Production placeholders do occur at times when a file cannot be auto-converted, but the original version of the document is provided in the Originals folder as supplement and that will typically fulfill discovery needs. I like the options available for filtering across data sets, and the speed with which the Professional Services team responds to questions/requests. I like that the more complex uploads are handled by Professional Services. I also appreciate the simplicity of the interface. Cons Some of the Help articles and videos need to be updated. Also, it would be great if Professional Services could tell you how much storage space an email file will take up before it gets uploaded to the platform. Automatic OCR and the search abilities have significantly enhanced our e-discovery process. Being able to unredact redactions that we had previously made. Cons The only minor thing we don't like is that the redaction boxes are white/"x" and not black. We prefer black but that's a personal preference point. We've also already submitted a feature request, which is really nice that Lexbe takes user feedback seriously. Cons It would be helpful if the duplicate/near duplicate filters were a bit more accurate, and even better if there was a way to easily identify the differences between near duplicates, perhaps through a summary or in a side-by-side comparison. " September 17, 2024 5.0 Lexbe provides a solution to review and organize a large volume of documents, emails, reports, etc. in one central location. As a cloud-based platform, our firm is not restricted to our computers and can review case exhibits from virtually anywhere. This is particularly useful when someone is unable to be in the office but still needs to complete work. I appreciate using the briefcase exporting feature because I have a couple of attorneys who prefer not to review documents within the platform. With this feature, I can easily convert documents and deliver them more quickly than if I were to do a full production, especially when the documents are not yet ready for production. Pros Lexbe is known for its professional and prompt services, making it the ideal choice for handling complex projects. The analysis tab provides different angles of a search that the attorney may have overlooked initially. Its numerous search and filtering options ensure that finding a document is nearly foolproof. Features like Co-Pilot have been invaluable for enhancing witness summaries and understanding information more effectively. Cons However, the platform's lack of user-friendliness can be a drawback. This is something that I've noticed that some of our older attorneys are hesitant to use the system. Despite its many search and filter options, it can be challenging to locate a document, especially for new users who may feel overwhelmed by the multitude of choices. It would be helpful to be able to sort while in the reviewing part. I think it would be beneficial to have an easier way to save a filter where you can name it and have it saved globally through the system. For example, if there is a special search I like to use to help remove non-responsive materials, I would like to be able to use that same search in other cases. I believe it would be helpful for billing purposes to pay for the OpenAI through the Lexbe platform, especially since it is only charged whenever you use the Co-Pilot add-on. It would be great to figure out a way to charge it to that specific case. These often involve a smaller entity or even an individual taking on a large company. Lexbe has been helpful to us in data collection in responding to discovery and reviewing documents obtained in discovery. We have some experience with other online programs. We find that they are not as user friendly, and they are separate from the e-discovery vendor that consults and collects the data. This leads to a breakdown in support. The level of customer service at Lexbe is truly superior. Fast to respond. Explanations are understandable and advice is practical and easy to implement. We couldn't be more pleased.
