And in my field time is money. And one thing you can't get back is lost time. Pros Everything you would need in one place in terms of writing perposals or submitting job bids on previous completed jobs. Cons The fact that you have to manually delete the previous search or it compiles your next search in with the previous one. No major issues though. September 7, 2025 4.0 I really like it. There's no way we'd be able to keep track of all of our images without it! It's quick and efficient Pros It really helps us to organize and find photos and other images/visuals for our thousands of projects. I find the AI search really helpful, because it helps find images that weren't tagged with certain keywords. I also really like that I can select images, and keep looking for more in other projects, but the ones I selected stay in my "cart", rather than reset each time I change projects. Cons Sometimes the plugin for InDesign has some issues, but they're nothing major. I also wish the searching was a little more intuitive. I have been using it for 6 months, and am still trying to get the searches just right. I don't love the resume builder portion. There seems to be some issue with the export, because sometimes we get duplicate information pulled into InDesign. I don't know if it's from OpenAsset, or it's connection with Deltek, but it's frustrating to not be able to rely on it to export correctly all the time. Review Source MB Michail B. As already mentioned OpenAsset has transformed the way we work and has been 100% worth the investment. Pros OpenAsset is fantastic, it is the software solution we were looking for and has transformed the way we work with our digital assets. We are now able to access our image library from anywhere, which is fully tagged and searchable, saving time and giving the results we need. One of the best features is the integration with InDesign for drag and drop images and the creation of project sheets and CV's from templates. It really is an all-in-one content management system. Cons All the fantastic features that come with OpenAsset does mean that it come at a cost, this could put some people off, but now we are on board, we couldn't image working without it. I use it almost every day and the ease of dragging and dropping images into InDesign is great!!! No more searching for images in folders on our marketing drive. June 27, 2025 4.0 Very helpful. I cannot imagine trying to find images and photos in our massive collection without it! Pros It's great for finding photos and images (and even PDFs and videos!) when we have so many. The AI search feature seems to work fairly well, finding images that match what I'm looking for even if they're not actually tagged that way. I also like that I can select multiple items across multiple searches--it doesn't just reset every time I search something new. This is really helpful when trying to create a collection of images that I'll want to compare. Cons I really wish my search settings would save. I always want to see the newest/most recently uploaded images first, and instead I have to go and reset the filters every single time. Also, the drag-and-drop option isn't as smooth as I'd like. I have to make sure I hold my mouse button over it long enough, or it won't drag. And even then, sometimes I have issues, especially with InDesign. Review Source YJ YOJNA J. Since BDP oversees a wide range of projects across several industries, having a centralised, user-friendly platform makes it quick and easy for us to locate and distribute the right images. It saves us time and ensures that we always highlight our work with the best, most current images, which is especially useful when making bid documents and marketing materials. Cons One issue I've noticed with Open Asset is that its search feature sometimes feels a little limited. Although it works well for simple searches, more advanced filtering options would be helpful, particularly when working with a large number of assets across multiple projects. Furthermore, when the tagging system is unable to fully capture the context of an asset, it can be a little more difficult to find exactly what I'm looking for. I haven't had any major issues after a week using it. Pros Simplicity and flexibility so far. I'm a new user who appreciates the options for fields and plugins for various software. We're still in the midst of getting our data in there, but for the data that's already there, it's already saving us time on our processes. You know you're working with a good software team when you see that you can click the "copy" button to copy a bit of text OR select a portion of that text and copy that manually. Having options like that means a lot. Cons Sometimes I forget that the search bar up top searches all data by default and that I have to click on "Projects" and use a separate search bar to search for the project I want. Until about four months ago, I did so without a DAM tool. I was always so jealous of my peers at other firms who had OpenAsset, and when we decided to solicit DAM providers, I knew I wanted to be involved. Throughout the selection process, OpenAsset made their understanding of our unique industry very clear. They answered questions so well and gave us relevant examples. Additionally, they provided a number of references for similar firms that we were able to speak with. The implementation team was great, and made the process as easy as it could be. While there was a lot of work on our end, they made navigating the process feel achievable and kept us on track. They were, and continue to be, very accessible and ready to find solutions. Now that our implementation is complete, OpenAsset's customer support continues to be great. They are truly passionate about their product and continuing to make it better. While it's a great product, it's really the people behind it that make it sing. I use OpenAsset almost constantly now, and my efficiency is so much better. I'm not struggling to find photos, and it's so customizable for each user with albums, rankings, and more. It's also made sharing images with other stakeholders so much easier. Cons I wish OpenAsset had more AI capabilities, but I know they're working on that. Also, it would be nice to have a bit more of a true solution for video that isn't as costly, as we continue to have more video assets. Review Source AA Adrian A. Cons I think that sometimes there are too many new features appearing that sometimes I can get a little overwhelmed with all there is to leverage and learn about the program. The integration to powerpoint and InDesign expedite the way we design and reduce the file size of what we work on, therefore speeding up the process. Cons OpenAsset often has small glitches. Some images might get corrupted and we have to keep a backup on our drive in case we need to upload them again. Another example is images sometimes translate to InDesign or PPT upside down or distorted but this is an easy fix we live with. Review Source SM Sam M. The Axomic team is great--they listen, they help, and they truly want the product to help our business be successful. Pros How easy it is to connect OpenAsset to existing systems currently in place. It instantly adds value in that the moment we upload a new file, the system is porting over data from our Deltek Vision system making it easy and quickly usable. Cons Certain functionalities have to be used in certain ways--that is, for instance, you can only drag and drop files into InDesign from the grid view, but say I'm previewing in full-screen; I can't just drag that active file right into InDesign from there. Some features seem to be layered in as opposed to integrated in a central way. Lastly, I think the limitation of the system which could vastly improve it is to break free from strict things like search terms, and instead allow for more open-ended search features that are smart and intuitive rather than restrictive. The ability to easily upload, label, and then subsequently search has been a game changer. Also--the Indesign plugin is A+. Gone are the days of all those broken links! Cons Overall, we've had a great experience. The one area I would love to see is a more user-directed template for creating project pages/resumes. The InDesign plugin was especially helpful for our marketing team productivity. Cons It took us many months to get the software customized to our liking and uploaded with content. Training for users is a must because OpenAsset has so much depth to it that even seasoned users might not be aware of all the features available. All of our install photos are stored here and they can be used in a number of ways for marketing. Pros The capacity and function. You can create PPT or PDF documents, label your photos, save PDF documents, and much much more. It responds quickly so you can create something fast when you need it like a PPT or document to send to your client. You can also just download photos to put into email and you can also save files in various sizes and formats for multiple presentation options. You can also choose a photo and that will prompt other photos similar to what you are looking at so there are multiple ways that you can search and produce a carousel of photos. Excellent for companies that need marketing resources where all employees can access individually. Very user friendly. Cons Nothing that I can think of at this time. The ability to tag content to enable a better search has helped tremendously. Pros The ability to share content instantaneously across a large company is crucial to the success of our marketing team. Open Asset is the perfect solution to this challenge. Cons I feel that the current platform is limited to only sharing images/video currently. Assigning tags to pictures lets you search through images by description which is a terrific capability for anyone working with images a lot. Saving the same image at different file sizes and resolution that can be linked to many other programs is also a huge time saver. Cons Open asset can feel like a clunky database while searching and filing images. The amount of capabilities it has makes it more complicated to use if you’re looking for a simple photo library.
