They are responsive, the platform does what you need it to do, and it is set up to support the communication and operations of a multidisciplinary team in a higher level of care. Pros BestNotes does what you need it to do in the mental health space. Working with clients with EDs the set up works well for our clinic and multidisciplinary team. The user interface is simple, but it is functional There are many products out there that are sleek and have glossy UIs, but underneath the structure of the product is not as sound in delivering what you need and they charge a lot more. Cons There is one adjustment I would really like them to make, to allow the user to use the "command A" shortcut to select all text. This was something you could do previously, and hopefully will be fixed in the next update. I also think it would be great if you could pin files to the top of a client's chart (similar to how you can with a note), so that we could pin the clinical program assessment to the top for easy access. One could say a con is that it is an older looking interface, but honestly, I think that's a pro because it's straightforward and well organized. In fact it's UI is somewhat genius in design of making it seem simple and easy to organize within the complexity of the EMR system needs (even while looking a little 80s/90s style). We use other products for the patient portal in terms of documents (besides appointment reminders), so I can't provide a comprehensive review on it. That said, I believe it works pretty well and automatically loads into chart, but other services that purely devoted to sharing/signing documents and forms are probably more robust. Pros The combination of being able to document, schedule, track the clients progress and do billing all in one. Cons Desktop is easier to use than going mobile.. It has all of the features we need and the documents can be customized for us. Cons The telehealth platform and portal seem to be challenging for some clients to use. They often struggle to navigate setting up their portal and signing documents. It has all the functions I need with my current job and is easy to use and train others to use. Pros Easy to use. Has features most EHR's do not have such as the ability to use ASAM criteria to determine a patients level of care. Cons I do not like that you cannot remove a patient from a group note without completely starting the note over. It takes a lot more time when in a hurry. I like that you can unlock notes incaee there was a mistake made. Cons I dont see any issues with it. Everything operates smoothly. It’s easy to train with once somebody is shown how to use it. There’s really not much going back and retraining. Pros It is user-friendly. I really enjoy knowing how to navigate and I wouldn’t choose another system just because of that. Cons I wish it had the AI technology built into it. Pros Bestnotes software is easy to utilize and provides a variety of pathways to document, pull data and analyze it. Cons Several times the portal crashed during documentation and staff had to redo their documentation. Otherwise, no real cons. August 27, 2025 4.0 It was user friendly. Any time I had to contact customer care it was handled right away. I really enjoyed using Best Notes. I prefer Best Notes over anything I have used over the last 10 years. Pros WhaI loved most about Best Notes is everything was on one platform. Seeing everything from assessments to group notes right on the first screen made it easy to find things. Searching for clients and making it easy to addd multiple stays as in just adding an episode. Having an app also makes it easy to look at stuff on the go. Cons There wasn't really anything I didn't like about Best Notes. It was really easy to train people and have everything right there. Pros Good security. I don't think it's very user friendly. I've been using it so long now that I get it but the interface isn't user friendly. Cons You can only upload 1 document at a time. The patient portal isn't very user friendly. We always have problems onboarding clients to the portal. Cons At times there are updates done that we, as users, don't always hear about. I have seen improvement in this over the past year. I've also have functionality issues with the parent portal. I still have a lot to explore and I learn more about it every day. Pros Its fairly easy to use. I like the color coordination for making notes and billing. I think that its very well secured, i like that it logs you out after a short period of being away for the clients confidentiality. Pros Once you learn the system it is easy to use. I like that you can customize your dashboard. Cons Therapy notes to not automatically save and if a note is accidentally closed you lose everything. Also, as a therapist I would like to have a separate master treatment plan, not combined with other service MTP. Pros The user-friendly interface is great to work with. There are clear fields for what I need. Cons I don't like that I cannot close out of one facility and quickly enter another. This is my first time using beast notes and I though it was easy to adjust to the system. Pros Easy and simple. I love the feature that we can copy over the last prog note! Cons The colors and layout can be meh. I wish more features could be added when transferring info in other documents such CDAs to MTP and the application info with medical history transferred (auto populated) to the CDA template.
