Pros: It does what I want it to do and once you learn to play by its rules it's easy enough to sort out and use.

Cons: Customer support is really slow and, while the agents intend to be helpful and polite, they are remarkably unhelpful. All of our answers have come from the community or connections.

Pros: It is great as a sales rep to be able to see what each prospect has done on our site and their digital footprint with our company as a whole.

Cons: The tool itself is very complex and difficult to use if you aren't a Marketo trained marketer. Making Marketo more sales oriented would make it much more beneficial for teams outside marketing to use.

Pros: The automation portion works well. We've set up programs based on the customer lifecycle using the Revenue Cycle Modeler and can see where customers move or get stuck along the pipeline. Marketo's online community is strong and can help when you get stuck on something.

Cons: Although not lately, stability has been an issue. We've had instances where Marketo's platform went down at crucial moments. Marketo needs a true drag & drop interface for email creation. Too many times I have had to go into the html and that wastes time. Documentation can be a lot better.

Overall: The ability to deliver messaging to customers at the right time depending where they are in the customer lifecycle.

Pros: I've worked with this platform at a few different companies and what it does well is that it integrates nicely with Salesforce CRM. If you have a very large, enterprise company then I'd suggest researching Marketo, as it will offer a big team, a large tool to use and understand.

Cons: I find this tool to be wildly confusing. There are times that you can do 1 simple function, 3 different ways. For me, I want consistency and to know that whatever function I'm trying to complete that it works. Marketo could definitely streamline the tool so that it's much easier to understand and easier to use. It's also very expensive and support is VERY tricky. I was an admin on the account and should of had access to the support team yet everytime I attempted to contact them, I was told I didn't have enough rights. If you have a high paying account, I'd definitely make nice with your rep so that you can contact them directly if you're stuck on something.

Pros: Marketo..where do we begin? I started using Marketo two organizations ago and at this point I wouldn't even consider working for an organization that isn't using Marketo. Everything from lead entry, lead validation, lead assignment, nurturing, email communication, landing pages, forms, personalization. At this point it has gotten so big that we have a team using it and we need to enforce best practices.

Cons: You get out of it what you put in. You can run your entire business on it but you need to ensure you are using best practices - if you let inexperienced people behind the wheel, it will turn into a huge mess.

Pros: It's an incredibly robust system that is incredibly customizable. The ability to create landing pages that directly integrate with SFDC. The community of users for best practices.

Cons: The user interface is a bit clunky. With customization that is available, it is possible to get a bit lost in the hugeness that is Marketo. Lastly, there are no customizable reporting options which can make things hard.

Overall: Able to create landing pages easily with forms that are trackable. Get leads directly from Marketo that link up with SFDC. The marketing automation aspect is easy and fun.

Pros: Easy way to capture web form data with an easy-to-build interface. Also, Marketo integrates easily with most other marketing platforms since it is a bigger name in the industry.

Cons: Marketo's user interface for some areas is not very intuitive and will require some Googling and using customer support to find out how to do certain, very obvious tasks.

Overall: Pretty good tool for marketing automation, which helps you save time if you have a lot of other marketing tasks to perform.

Pros: I love the options for configuring campaigns and communications! It always looked like it was coming from me but allowed me to reach so many customers at once. I was able to use information we had stored in Salesforce about the customers and their purchase to dictate what communications they received.

Cons: It was a bit tricky to learn at first, but I think this is just because it is so flexible. I also had a couple experiences where signatures were weirdly replaced with alpha-numeric strings, which kind of blew our cover on making the emails look like they were sent by a human.

Overall: Great way to reach a wide audience and integration with Salesforce to make the process easy!

Pros: Marketo makes my life simple. I am on the sales side and am constantly needing to manage sequences and automated emails to potential clients. Does everything I need, no complaints.

Cons: They recently had a UI makeover and layout is more difficult to navigate. They integrate decently well with Salesforce, but there are instances in which it seems like they do not sync up entirely.

Pros: Marketo is a great marketing tool that allows automating repetitive marketing activities. I am using Marketo since 4 years. We use it to improve our lead generation process and we integrated Marketo with Salesforce. We are using Marketo Forms embedded on our website to get the personal information, track the activities done by leads and notify the sales reps. We are able to track campaigns (members are synced to Salesforce campaigns) and lead sources to measure effectiveness of marketing activities. We created a series of program templates that can be replicated to manage events, webinars, newsletters or email blastings. Cloning the templates all our marketers can start a new program easily customizing just the details, without errors and saving time. I want to mention a powerful feature that I use daily - smart lists - they allows to target a specific audience and continuously been fed with new members that match the criteria.

Cons: - Integration with MS Dynamics: we started with MS dynamics CRM and the integration is not seamless as the integration with Salesforce. We had unresolved issues for 3 years until we decided to move our CRM to Salesforce. - Consulting Services: we started our project with direct Marketo consulting services but our project manager was not responsive and we had the impression that each PM had too many customers to manage and do not have the time to dedicate the right effort to each project. For this reason, we moved our project to an external consultant firm and the results are much better. - Support: the response time of the standard support is not quick and usually it takes some days to resolve it. - Landing pages: it is missing a validation workflow on the thank you pages (to be sure that those who will access the thank you page have successfully filled-out the form included in the landing page) - Reporting: the reports are very basics

Pros: We use Marketo for many different aspects of our company including Marketing and some Client newsletter work. Getting started is a little scary, but they have a lot of helpful guides and templates that you can customize to your own, so it's not a complete shot in the dark. We got up and running fairly quickly and they even had a process in place for when we needed to change the domain that we used.

Cons: When you start to think about doing something completely new and custom, the features are there. It definitely takes a more advanced hand to go through and create this process as there is not much out there to help you through this process. The guides only take you through so much and then you are on your own. There is a messageboard with very helpful people, but sometimes that does not help either.

Pros: We use Marketo for web forms on our website. The forms are easy to put together and use, giving us an easy way of capturing leads visiting the site.

Cons: The platform looks rather dated (although there have been a few updates addressing that recently) and it can be quite sluggish when navigating data. Speed and UI improvements would be greatly appreciated.

Overall: Excellent ability to capture leads on our website.

Pros: The good thing about Marketo is that it does automate a lot of emails and nurtures a prospect through the whole sales cycle. Since it's also one of the bigger marketing automation platforms, it also integrates fairly well with nearly all other marketing platforms/tools we use.

Cons: Marketo is so incredibly clunky. Just trying to edit a line in one email can take you up to 5 minutes. The look and feel of it is also stuck in the 90s. They don't provide any decent templates so my team is often forced to look elsewhere and then integrate email and landing page templates with Marketo. It's a bear to use but it's simply too much of a hassle to look for another provider.

Pros: The foundation of what Marketo is built on are these awesome things called Programs and Smart Campaigns. Marketo's ability to provide an almost endless realm of automation based on smart campaigns is pretty outstanding. The different programs offered as well are pretty great for flexibility and making the right marketing messaging.

Cons: One thing that I immediately noticed is the user interface and user experience. The overall look and feel seems very dated. Once you see the power and potential of Marketo, you have a different feeling (maybe not so negative) about the UI/UX, but overall not a great look for the platform.

Comments: Very effective for company's growth, serve best for marketing perspective (everything on a single platform)

Pros: There is no doubt, Marketo has a vast list of features and functions on a single platform, which allows us engaging in social sharing, promotion and engagement. Something I like the most about Marketo is, we can customize the modular system as per our needs or as per our marketing strategies. Along with that, the analytics and reports do all the justice to track campaigns or the summary of the company's growth through viable data.

Cons: Though Marketo gives access to integrate and customize the solution, the interface looks little bit old, can make it more attractive. Too many functions, the processes need to be simplified, not that easy. Need more engagement in customer support.

Pros: I like the wide range of reports and data that are available. Everything from email performance to program ROI to opportunity insights are available through Marketo's Analytics software. I use it most often to look at email deliverability and program membership. There are a lot of different ways you can break down email sends and being able to look at everything from subject line interaction by job category to program ROI by attendance status is very useful in determining campaign effectiveness.

Cons: There's kind of a learning curve and a lot of different views and reports to get accustomed to, but once you spend some time in each of the reports it gets pretty easy to anticipate what you'll need to answer any given question you may get. There is some overlap between Marketo Analytics and what our department pulls from Salesforce, but there is still a lot of use in Marketo Analytics data.

Pros: I love the triggered emails functionality and the customer segmentation tools they offer. I am able to automatically send highly-customized emails in real-time, while triggering segmentations based on the activity of customers in different channels. I don't need to know how to code or program anything to use the tool. The A/B testing tool is also great, as there are two different ways to use it. One-time emails can be tested through regular A/B testing methods, but ongoing emails that are used for engagement programs and smart campaigns can be tested through Marketo's email champion/challenger method, which I was familiar with from other software tools and landing page building applications.

Cons: The only con I can think about is pricing, as it could be more affordable to be honest. Although I do think that the value is quite high, I also would love to have access to more entry-level plans or just an overall way to use this tool when revenue isn't quite there yet.

Pros: Marketo offers large amounts of control and also large amounts of integration opportunities (which makes this well-suited to a company that focuses on or uses lots of technology); its pricing and features make it well-suited for mid-level companies. Additionally, setup is both quick and easy and has a community to help make the transition even more effortless.

Cons: Marketo is generally expensive and also requires the aforementioned integrations to work effectively, which adds to this cost. Additionally, analytics are limited and some parts of the interface are strangely unintuitive compared to the rest.

Cons: This software is very complex to setup without a wizard to help you set it up. As a result, you will likely need to find partner or professional service engagement (from Marketo) to get this up and running.

Cons: Digging deeper, Marketo's integration with Salesforce leaves much to be desired. The conditional formatting required for certain list pulls is incredibly (and unnecessarily) complicated. Furthermore, the folder nesting setup is far from intuitive, and the corresponding icons are no help either.

I honestly think the software needs a complete and total overhaul. STAY AWAY! FAR AWAY!

It is the least user-friendly marketing automation software I have ever used. Their naming conventions are nonsensical and it's impossible to find what you need when you need it.

Overall: NONE! I've sent emails that I've double and triple checked for formatting and responsiveness only to be horrified at what actually got delivered to my contacts' inboxes.

Pros: Marketo is a great platform and allows for a lot of flexibility and functionality. I love their online community and the tool itself is very powerful. It can be manipulated in many ways to make a wide variety of marketing campaigns work. We've improved our email marketing immensely with Marketo.

Cons: If you're a new company becoming acquainted with Marketo, it can be a HUGE undertaking and there's definitely a learning curve. Luckily they have a helpful online community and trainings.

Overall: We've been able to take advantage of lead scoring and sales insight tools to help our sales teams based on customer activities. Marketo has allowed us to automate our day-to-day communications with our sales force and respond quickly to our prospects.

Pros: Marketo allows me to create beautiful email campaigns and landing pages. It is instrumental in our email nurture programs, outbound email campaigns, and lead generation by way of landing pages. I love that my marketing team can create emails for sales to use and have them available through CRM.

Cons: The learning curve for this software is very sharp for beginners, especially if you don't use the platform every day. The integration with certain CRM platforms (namely Microsoft Dynamics) can be buggy and cause issues forcing us to create workarounds.

Comments: Marketo is by far the best MA tool on the market. I have used many. If you are looking at bringing an MA platform in house, do yourself a favor and go with Marketo.

Pros: I have been in the MA space for over 5 years. This is the BEST tool on the market. The best thing about is its relative ease of use. Yes, mastering it and making the most of it takes time. But the bottom line is anyone can learn Marketo, and all it takes is time. Other tools require technical knowledge outside of the platform (such as coding, scripting, SQL). But to use Marketo, you don't need any outside technical skill -- just a commitment to learning Marketo. It has an incredible user-friendly interface, integrates easily with other tools, and really adds to internal marketing's tool set.

You can also send out drip campaigns off the back of lead generation. Sending out content to clients is also relatively easy using Marketo

Cons: Customer support is not that great. We've had a few outages from Marketo in the last few months when an email or content campaign has gone out via Marketo but the system was down so clients and prospects were unable to register or download collateral.

Comments: One thing that is appreciated is they are continuing to build the platform, especially working on integrations and new features. Seems to be a solid company, and I would have confidence recommending this product to anyone assuming they match functional needs accurately.

Pros: It can handle a good volume of data and multiple campaigns, and provides the functionality we needed. Specifically like the Salesforce integration, although I've heard it is slower integrating with other platforms..

Cons: A little lax on reporting and metrics, we had to purchase additional software for some analysis. It also "feels" a bit heavy from a price standpoint compared to some lesser known platforms, but I haven't done a true side-by-side comparison.

Pros: It definitely brings more flexibility and functionality to slice and dice your email data into sophisticated campaigns¿¿more so than what cheaper solutions offer.

Cons: The UI is stuck in 2005, and there's nothing with conventional naming (i.e. if you want to duplicate something, you need to "clone" it). Pros: The interface mimics other day-to-day programs such as emails or file folders. So that makes it relatively easy to organize your campaigns and find them again. And there is a lot of flexibility built in once you get started. You can move campaigns around, bring in other pieces, clone items, upload relatively easily, etc. I also really like the auto-save feature.

Cons: When a process flow is broken, there are no hints or indications as to why. On a few occasions the program has given me error messages (the good old band-aid on the screen) for reasons I'm not ever able to figure out. While they do offer some basic training for new users, anything beyond that is a charge. And my experience with the community responses hasn't been great. When you have a very specific and detailed program, it's tough for other people to be able to understand where you're stuck. So often times the answers people provide are not enough to help me get un-stuck.

Overall: The Marketo consultant we engaged with (paid) was great. They have very knowledgeable team members on the staff.

Comments: Pretty decent CRM software with a few time wasting features. I'd like to see more product updates.

Pros: I've been using Marketo for 5+ years now. It's really easy to navigate, manage leads, create campaigns, and get basic reporting.

Cons: it can sometimes take upwards of an hour for the system to process leads and send an email to a larger sized list. Email reporting could be better. There have been several outages in the last year where everyone was unable to login to the system, all site forms were down, and anyone with emails scheduled to go out during the outage were pretty much helpless.

Pros: In addition to their technology offering, Marketo has amazing community and support team. The solution is flexible enough to enable the marketeers to adopt the solution to their needs.

Cons: They are going thru some growing pains which resulted in some performance issues. The main issue I have experience was around the upgrade they are doing to the backend processing which resulted in inconsistent performance between their smart lists and campaigns.

Pros: I love how powerful Marketo is! If you have the time and manpower to run creative, thoughtful campaigns and automation, you'll be a marketing rockstar and your sales team will be closing leads all day! The Salesforce sync is fantastic, as well as additional plugins and integrations that you couldn't even dream up yourself. Seems like they've thought of everything.

Cons: It requires quite a bit of manpower and effort to be able to use Marketo to its fullest potential. A small marketing team could struggle with new ideas, troubleshooting, and having the time to fully analyze the product's ROI.

Pros: Very easy to use interface and very flexible and easy to scale whether you have a small or a large business to support. Lots of help available from Marketo and also via their extensive community section. I've made lots of friends and learnt lots of things from other users - even competitors.

Cons: Some area's need improvement including Reporting and Analytics but you can get the information you need with a bit of digging.

Pros: Marketo has robust lead scoring and lifecycle management solutions. Lead scoring can be tokenized to create efficient and scalable.models. Triggered MQL and Sales Alert Emails enable Sales to follow up with highly qualified leads. Engagement programs that allow you to easily nurture leads through the customer journey. Segment your audience and send dynamic content that is personalized to each segmentation Smart list logic and campaigns allow for many different types of triggered campaigns

Cons: Some minor UX improvements: Be able to view a subject line without opening the email. Improve Text version editor - Even MailChimp's is superior. Create stronger de-duplication technology native to the platform.

Comments: I've used Pardot, Hubspot and Marketo - it's by far my top of the three.

Pros: Scalability, flexibility. Unlike many other platforms, Marketo truly can scale at a high pace when built out well. And if you're a confident user, it doesn't hide the complicated features behind a wall of impossible to breach "user friendly" interface - you can get into the weeds and play around and really customise things.

Cons: It's not the simplest, and can be quite tricky for newer/more novice users. But this can be overcome quickly with training.

Comments: Marketo gives me the opportunity to seamlessly deliver information to the sales users in my organization through the Marketo Sales Insights tool in Salesforce as well as triggered alerts/emails. I really enjoy the speed of the Salesforce sync as we are able to create/monitor campaigns and attribute revenue almost instantly.

Pros: Marketo is consistently ranked by analysts as a top automation solution, and I can finally see why! As a marketer, it¿s simple to use but also robust for program management from creation to reporting. On a day-to-day basis, I use Marketo within a B2B environment and we wouldn¿t be able to function without it. It¿s a key tool for my marketing strategy, one of our most used functionalities is cloning programs, tactics, and campaigns. This allows us to make fewer mistakes and maintain continuity from user-to-user, an efficiency for my nimble, growing team. What I¿d like to see is continued product improvement driven by customer voices. I¿m excited for the new Mercury UI to debut in 2018!

Cons: As an admin within a small team, the uptime to full functionality can be like climbing a steep hill on a cold day. Simply put, learning this tool can feel cumbersome if it¿s not your only responsibility. Luckily, the Marketing Nation Community combined with the product docs and Marketo University prove to be helpful resources for growing your knowledge. Within a year I was able to confidently learn the tool, contribute new ideas, and become a Marketo Certified Expert (MCE). Service/support - Compared to other automation platforms, there seems to be limited support and desire for accounts to have a 1:1 communication on a regular basis with an account rep. We¿ve recently been assigned a new rep and we're making progress.

Pros: You can do almost anything you want. You can easily do the basics or you can build very intricate fine-tuned campaigns to support all your needs. Other platforms may be easier to do smaller things, but can't scale the way Marketo can. Content recommendation per unique user is changing the game of integrating with websites.

Cons: Reporting and analytics can sometimes be a bear -- but they've made strides to improve this already, and more to come.

Comments: I have use Marketo for just about 4 years. I have found success in implementing new strategies through Marketo and increasing MQLs, SQLs, and customers because of it. Marketo will definitely be able to adapt to a dynamic company.

Pros: Marketo is easy to use and can be as custom and complicated as you need it to be. They have an extensive community that gives endless advice and will answer any questions you have. It is perfect for any sized company that is looking to grow and optimize their marketing operations.

Cons: I would like to see a little more from the analytics and SEO, but I believe the new UI will be enhancing these areas of the product.

Comments: The Marketo community is great and one of the highlights of working with this software. The support is robust and effective. While the aesthetic aspects of the forms, landing pages, and emails leaves something to be desired, it is more than made up for in overall functionality.

Pros: We have a really small marketing team, but we are able to create quality, complex nurture streams easily with Marketo. It also gives us valuable insight into who is engaging with our website and our emails. We couldn't imagine running our marketing with anything else.

Cons: While the functional aspects of Marketo are great, they are lacking in some areas like form design and ease of use for designing emails and landing pages. They have tried to improve all three but continue to fall short compared to other tools. You will have to have someone who knows how to do some basic coding if you want to go beyond their most basic templates.

Pros: From comparing to other MAPs, Marketo really nails the scalability aspect of marketing programs by collecting a group of assets (landing page, form, email, smart campaigns for triggers) and allowing users to clone these into entirely new programs which maintain the same process connections for quick rollout.

Cons: I would like to see the same modular aspect applied to Landing Page templates as with the newer modular email templates

Pros: Marketo makes it easy to track leads and accelerate leads to wins as a tool for content creation. In addition to keeping track of each prospect's place in the sales process, marketo is great for creating a database of all collateral for sales to access via marketo links and sending targeted emails to specific prospects across industry, size, location, etc.

Cons: The interface is difficult to use at first. The fact that it's so hard to understand limits users to using only the few features that they are aware of. You'll really need detailed tutorials to get your money's worth with this product.

Pros: Marketo is easy to use, quick to setup and an all around amazing tool. It does everything my company needs. The interface is very easy to use even when setting up complex programs. There is a logic to how you go about things that follow the flow of most campaign design processes while helping ensure that you are covering all aspects of the campaign needed.

Cons: There is a bit of a learning curve for users as well as administrators. There are plenty of resources online to help but one should not expect to load Marketo into your process and immediately log in and start building out complex programs.

Pros: This is a great tool to have to track the digital footprints of a prospect. When they go to your web site you see ever click and with analytics it gives you a great snap shot of perspective buyers and persona

Cons: I cant say I disliked anything. I wish the web and social came together in a one package maybe because the 2 tools together are powerful. The Marketo Social gives a snapshot of what perspective buyers are saying about you on social media and with advanced analytics its a powerful tool

Overall: This gives you insight into what prospects are interested in and gives your warm leads because when you contact the prospect you already know what is important to them based on the digital foot print they left

Comments: I am in the non-profit space, which generally has too few staff trying to do too many things. When used properly, Marketo increases our capabilities beyond what any of us alone could accomplish through a typical email-blast service. That being said, it takes discipline, time, and maybe even a dedicated personnel resource (internal or external) to get it up and running where it begin to really serve your organization's needs.

Pros: - Options for Customization of Automation Campaigns and Landing Pages - Extensive Analytical Tools - "The Sky's the Limit" on how much your marketing team can do with this tool

Cons: - The Email Editor is difficult to use, in my opinion. But if you are comfortable with writing HTML code, you can bypass the drag-and-drop editor. Also, it may not be any more difficult than any other option (I don't have a wide exposure to email builders). - The learning curve on the whole is steep. If you don't have a dedicated marketing staff person, you may be frustrated by how much time you need to set aside to learn how to use the various tools. But their documentation resources and training tools are very helpful. - You have to pay extra for full-service tech support.
