We are using Marketo across the whole organization to improve and automate our marketing activities. We are using it at corporate level as well as in each operation (US, UK, DACH, France, Italy, APAC, etc). We improved ability to attract new leads and the engagement of visitors on our website.

Pros

\- Workflow: the logic behind the workflows allows to automate manual activities - Lead gen: we improved the engagement of the visitors on our website and we manage the entire lead generation process on Marketo integrated with our CRM. - Programs: it is easy to create and manage emailing and nurture programs with the ability to set rules when the email should be sent. - Forms: we are using Marketo forms and we embedded them on our website.

Cons

\- Integration with Dynamics: after 3 years we still have some issues on the integration with MS Dynamics... the 2 systems are not well integrated. - Support: sometimes we had some issues with getting quick replies from support. - Landing pages: it is missing a validation workflow on the thank you pages (to be sure that those who will access the thank you page have successfully filled-out the form included in the landing page).

Pros

Marketo's integration with SFDC is completely seamless and unbelievably helpful in our daily work! Also the customization that is available is great. We create templates with tokens that allow us to easily clone & make changes to get our campaigns out the door faster and to keep our brand standards across each campaign.

Cons

There are a few hiccups with reporting. I cannot easily give my CMO a dashboard that allows for drill downs to details. The numbers are fantastic and give us a great view into our work, but when we want to drill down on the fly, it is cumbersome.

Pros

Makes creating targeted lists for Marketing easier. Dedup capabilities when you have all web Leads go into Marketo first.

Cons

Very buggy. Constantly having issues with Sales Insight causing pages to not load. Leads not transferring to Salesforce and occasionally Leads in Salesforce (mass upload from list) not transferring to Marketo.

### "Why I Dont Use Marketo"

Pros

I like the fact that the tools they provide are useful from the largest organization of thousands to a small company of a dozen or more.

Cons

What I do not like about Marketo most is thier customer service. You have a contact or representative that never contacts you back and the only way to talk to someone is if you wait for a generic answer (as if taken from a script) hours later or try calling support on the phone and waste half of your day. Issues of system failure, updates and glitches were ALWAYS occuring and the fact that you cant get an imediate answer leads you to be even more frustrated. Even the best of products can have issues but the lack of goo customer service creates an overall sub-par product.

Pros

As robust as its functionality is, I find it extremely easy to use! I also appreciate how Marketo is constantly adding (free) enhancements and new features to its products to continue its placement as the best provider of marketing automation software. It really excels in lead lifecycle tracking, program membership tracking, campaign execution, and data management and works well for managing leads in each stage of the funnel.

Cons

Some of its design studio features are playing catch-up to other vendors in the market when it comes to responsiveness and style.

Pros

It does what I want it to do and once you learn to play by its rules it's easy enough to sort out and use.

Cons

Customer support is really slow and, while the agents intend to be helpful and polite, they are remarkably unhelpful. All of our answers have come from the community or connections.

Overall though the experience with the product is going well. It works well for the team and company as it integrates with the tools we use on a daily basis.

Pros

What I like best about the software is that it integrates with Salesforce and for my demand generation team this is extremely helpful and useful. This allows to create reporting views and set up campaigns through both.

Cons

The tool itself seems a little archaic and little hard to navigate. When I wanted to get more training and get certified I found you had to pay for it. I have used other marketing tools where you can get certified without shelling out a ton of money.

Pros

I love the triggered emails functionality and the customer segmentation tools they offer. I am able to automatically send highly-customized emails in real-time, while triggering segmentations based on the activity of customers in different channels. I don't need to know how to code or program anything to use the tool. The A/B testing tool is also great, as there are two different ways to use it. One-time emails can be tested through regular A/B testing methods, but ongoing emails that are used for engagement programs and smart campaigns can be tested through Marketo's email champion/challenger method, which I was familiar with from other software tools and landing page building applications.

Cons

The only con I can think about is pricing, as it could be more affordable to be honest. Although I do think that the value is quite high, I also would love to have access to more entry-level plans or just an overall way to use this tool when revenue isn't quite there yet.

Pros

Marketo has robust features for developing email marketing campaigns and creating landing pages. It is one of the best marketing automation platforms for small businesses and enterprises, who need sophisticated tools for email campaigns, lead scoring, reporting and analytics. It also integrates with many third party applications like Salesforce.

Cons

For new users, some of the set up features are not very intuitive. Therefore, we work with an agency who specializes in Marketo campaigns to help with that.

Pros

I love that Marketo allows me to assign leads equally and automatically to my team members. It can be hard to keep track of who has received leads and who has not throughout the day and Marketo makes sure that I don't have to worry about it!

Cons

I dislike that Marketo can move a lead in and out of multiple peoples names based on if there is an existing lead in Salesforce and what status that lead is in. It can be confusing to determine who that lead actually belongs to.

Pros

Marketo helped me a lot for my digital marketing needs. First of all, its flexibility is amazing. You can set a lot of actions depending on the bevahior of your leads. Also, I found the targeting to be very complete. The software is also very easy and intuitive to use and to set up. Finally, the customer support is also excellent. I had some problems and they answered very fast and tried to understand my problems as deeply as possible.

Cons

Unfortunately, it is a pretty expensive service. Also, you need some knowledge to code landing pages or responsive emails and interfaces vary according to the type of content.

\-Price -The certifications are a "joke" you are certified for 1 year then retake it and its the exact same test, been doing this for 3 years, even if the platform is changing they keep asking the same -Can be a lot to start with

I work with Marketo for most of my day. Recently, I have run into a few Marketo quirks that have made my job more difficult. One is that all triggers are used as "OR" instead of "AND". The other issue I have is the smart list and flow steps being on different servers, which has caused a major issue for me.

While this software is an awesome tool, i found it to be better for a large-scale company, rather than a small business. I can meet my needs with a cheaper alternative.

Pros

I find the visual reports really helpful and the dashboard is easy to interact with. it offers the ability to create audiences, score leads, manage your content, and automate. The customer support is helpful and quick to respond which is the most important thing for me, as a user with limited technical knowledge.

Cons

The biggest con for me is that I found this software to be a bit pricey compared to other alternatives. It also can be a bit clunky to navigate but that is where the support comes into play.
