We run all of our automated campaigns through Marketo, including social campaigns. As we expand our subscription scope, I am sure we will leverage more features to innovate our program.

Pros

I like the interface. Pretty self-explanatory, allowing novice users to find their way around without much help. The ease of smart campaigns and nurture tracking tools are great. The engagement rating on nurture campaigns allows my team to assess effectiveness of each touch and adjust accordingly.

Cons

Basic reporting is very basic. For the price, I would expect more detailed reporting and dashboards.

### "Efficient tool for marketing automation!"

We've found so much success since implementing Marketo. We are able to track and report on our sales campaigns, which allows us to continually improve our content and marketing strategies.

Pros

Once you set campaigns and functionality up in the platform, it's extremely easy to clone programs and logic. Managing lists and contacts is very easy to do and the platform offers pretty helpful reporting tools. The Marketo community is full of great resources and you are always connected to helpful tools to help you better use the platform.

Cons

Email creation can be difficult. How the email looks when you build it can differ greatly from what you see in the preview test send. I've spent a long time tweaking emails in the platform trying to get them to look good, and without templates, it's extremely difficult at times.

Pros

We use Marketo as our lead management software. The best part about the software is its integration with Salesforce. Any and all of their data that they collect can easily be viewed and consumed by individual contributors as well as the executive team.

Cons

They do not make it easy to be able to extract their reports. Their own dashboards are lacking.

Marketo enables you to easily track leads across the buyer's journey and also manage your leads to place them in product specific nurtures. There is a lot of information that you can store and act on for each lead in your database.

Cons

Marketo can be tough to learn at first, but when you get the hang of it, and begin to understand how it works, things start to click.

I use this platform for email marketing, registration forms and landing pages for my customers, I really find very helpful to have all this solutions in one platform, so I can easily target my communications and marketing activities in one place with a safe data base.

Pros

I love that it is an integrated marketing tool where you can manage your customers, comunicate with them and use different solutions such as email, forms, landing pages, ect. The best part of it is that you can do it all by yourself and adjust your communication to your customer lifecycle.

Cons

here is nothing that I dislike. I think this tool has what you need. When I'm having trouble with something in the platform I just look out in the tutorials and that's it.

It's the industry standard for marketing automation, so it's a good tool to know if you're starting off--you'll use it in multiple jobs.

Cons

\-It's convoluted because it tries to be everyone for everything. -There haven't been major core updates in a long time: all new features are on add-on products. -Sales and support are terrible to deal with.

Pros

I like that it can be customized to the max. I push this software far past what it's capable of. The interface is welcoming and inviting to a new user. The online community of users is unparalleled. I have never seen a online community like this one. This is the biggest pro for this software. So many others utilize the community and you are able to have your questions answered.

Cons

The software is so customizable that a new user would be completely lost if not trained. It is not an intuitive product by any means. There are times where it will take so long to load that you can take a coffee break or the application will completely freeze.

Great up against a lot of its competitors.

Pros

Marketo integrates with lots of other programs, and the options in automation are nearly endless, but you need someone who knows a lot about it to set it up. Also the customer support forums are very helpful, perhaps because of the sheer number of users. Good for small and large businesses.

Cons

Not the easiest to use, but can be integrated to be more simple than a lot of its competitors. Sometimes it can seem a little over-engineered. Lots of specific fields.

Pros

I love the ease of use and the organization Marketo uses, I also love how it is now integrated with so many Adobe services!

Cons

Sometimes there are glitches and it acts really slow and has you refresh a lot of times, or takes a while for things to load.

We use Marketo to promote all of our content team's materials, promote and track conference and registrations and integrate it across a variety of platforms (Salesforce, Cvent, Outgrow, etc.).

Pros

It's super flexible and can accommodate just about any marketing automation request I receive. I've been using it for a couple years now and have made hundreds of programs to send emails, create landing pages, gate content, monitor and implement events registration and once you get the hang of it, it's a breeze. The learning curve can feel a little steep at times, but their in-person onboarding is a welcome training.

Cons

I feel like they've grown so much that their CSMs can't keep up. Our last one rarely knew the answers to our questions and would push us to support all the time. Support usually could solve our problems, but they take a little longer to respond (about a day). If you can live with that, then you're golden.

Helpful and essential to our business but not always user friendly.

Pros

We use Marketo as an essential tool for the Marketing automation side of our business. We have a variety of nurture email streams and Marketo enables the automation of these repetivie type activities, sending a large number of comms at ease. We also utilize the forms section linking it to our website and connecting our database to Salesforce.

Cons

It's a very difficult tool to use. We have a specialist in the company, but for new members of the team that need to use the tool in their day to day jobs, equipping them with the basics (if they have not used it before) takes a long time.

Pros

I like the fact that Marketo sends me leads that I can occasionally act upon. It's not so clear where or why it's a lead, but that's fine.

Cons

I get inundated with what seems to be totally random leads with no actionable information mixed in with the actionable ones.

Our marketing team had a horrible experience after using Marketo for a year and switched to HubSpot. It was the best decision we have made and we are not using Marketo again.

Pros

Marketo had a lot of potential in terms of its lead tracking, automated workflows and contact management capabilities. We were thrilled to be on board with using the application, but soon realized we would never get to use the extra bells and whistles it offered since the core components were a constant frustration. It's also a very expensive platform.

Cons

Marketo provides templates for emails and landing pages that are difficult to customize, especially with our company logo and branding. We constantly were hitting road blocks and their support always very slow to respond days later after a technical issue was reported.

Marketo was our go to lead generation automation tool for many years. They have everything you need to track inbound campaigns and monitor current customer databases.

Cons

Marketo is the biggest but they come with a hefty price tag. A number of lower cost competitors are starting to provide similar offerings at a lower cost point.

Pros

The foundation of what Marketo is built on are these awesome things called Programs and Smart Campaigns. Marketo's ability to provide an almost endless realm of automation based on smart campaigns is pretty outstanding. The different programs offered as well are pretty great for flexibility and making the right marketing messaging.

Cons

One thing that I immediately noticed is the user interface and user experience. The overall look and feel seems very dated. Once you see the power and potential of Marketo, you have a different feeling (maybe not so negative) about the UI/UX, but overall not a great look for the platform.

Pros

Lead Management- Marekto has helped us improve our lead management with better lead scoring parameters and tracking the movement of each lead help us drive sales. Marketing campaigns- We are able to successfully deliver our email marketing campaigns and achieve high results, With Marketo we justify the ROI on marketing spend. The email templates, the email scheduler, analytics, different dashboards are great feature and can boost your productivity.

Cons

This is the best platform, having said that it needs training to use more efficiently. So a training is required for new user to make optimal use of it.

Pros

Gives you a lot of insight on your prospects. You can see the website activity, content download, clicks, views etc. At times, the data is incorrect or simply not accurate. It integrates with Salesforce so you can see the activity right there.

Cons

The platform is not intuitive, needs to be revamped. It seems that they have not updated the platform since it was sold. Sometimes the cookies, "munchins" do not populate correctly and integrate with other software.

Marketo offers large amounts of control and also large amounts of integration opportunities (which makes this well-suited to a company that focuses on or uses lots of technology); its pricing and features make it well-suited for mid-level companies. Additionally, setup is both quick and easy and has a community to help make the transition even more effortless.

Cons

Marketo is generally expensive and also requires the aforementioned integrations to work effectively, which adds to this cost. Additionally, analytics are limited and some parts of the interface are strangely unintuitive compared to the rest.

works extremely well for the business case we have. integration with salesforce helps us immensely in tracking key business clients and their purchase journey.

Pros

best email marketing software in the market. easy to setup lead scoring. integration with salesforce works really well.

Cons

some of the functionality is still old school. needs to upgrade the drag and drop interface to reflect modern software design principals.

Marketo is a system that has evolved and solves most problems marketers come across.

Pros

Marketo is a very powerful marketing automation tool. I've used it at a few different companies for years and feel like there is still so much more it can do. It makes creating and sending emails easy, it tracks lead lifecycle and integrates with salesforce to keep data maintained.

Cons

It is hard to use if you don't know your way around. It also does a lot so some companies have it configured much differently.

Good company and product that now is heading south. I would not recommend them at this point.

Pros

Marketo used to be a very customer-focused company and the product was (and still is) very good. User-friendly, lots of features and functions, good user community.

Cons

Customer service now SUCKS. Seriously poor. It's all about taking as much money from customers as possible. They are including an automatic "8% increase" in your price for the following year. How can you put a future price increase in a one year contract? Only an idiot would sign this and when pointed out to their "customer service" people, they didn't get the issue. So I guess they hire idiots for that job now.
