### "The worst automation tool"

Pros

The only pro this tool has is that it gets things done.

Cons

Where to begin. The UI is god awful. The service is terrible. Glitchy. They don't care for their small customers. I was so happy the day we axed Marketo altogether.

Pros

The overall setup and functionality of Marketo for bulk email marketing is at parity with its competition with similar offerings. Once you get through the initial setup and implementation, daily tasks are fairly straightforward with an easy to understand UI.

Cons

The data side of Marketo has caused us significant issues during our time using it. The API to Salesforce.com has caused huge issues with data writing and duplication issues that should be straightforward fixes based on data prioritization but it has required months of work to get things back on track.

Pros

Marketo allows me to create beautiful email campaigns and landing pages. It is instrumental in our email nurture programs, outbound email campaigns, and lead generation by way of landing pages. I love that my marketing team can create emails for sales to use and have them available through CRM.

Cons

The learning curve for this software is very sharp for beginners, especially if you don't use the platform every day. The integration with certain CRM platforms (namely Microsoft Dynamics) can be buggy and cause issues forcing us to create workarounds.

Great tool for marketing automation and pretty much is one of the tools that are helping define the standard in this market. It is a great tool with lots of possibilities but it's not easy to use and ramping up can take some time. That is expected though from such a type of tool.

Pros

Many possibilities when it comes to emailing, profiling and working with lists, integration with SFDC and other CRM systems. Landing pages also offer great possibility.

Cons

Because of its nature, it can take time to ramp up and caution is recommended before giving licenses away at the company. Training is necessary and a strategy for the companys marketing execution.

I can't express how much easier Marketo makes my life. I am the events manager at my company, and I use Marketo's lead management functionality to send out my invitations, set up my registration pages and manage my attendee lists. Marketo was great before - but now, with the new Programs & Events release, it is AMAZING! We have a small marketing department, so I am responsible for every aspect of an event, from start to finish and beyond with our follow-up program. From roadshows, trade shows, and dinners to parties, dinners, and meet-up groups - you name it, I handle it though Marketo. I love being able to tie all my assets together under an event, and being able to clone an entire event saves time and allows me to focus on other aspects of the event. It also helps me easily track my cost-per-lead and figure out which events are driving the most leads and helping us close the most deals. With 15 different events planned over the next four months, in cities all across the world, I am going to be on the road a ton. It's key for me to be able to set everything up in advance and know that it will just GO when it needs to. Furthermore, being able to check on it from anywhere in the world with the touch of a button brings me huge peace of mind. After the event, our programs manager can funnel our leads through our nurturing program until they are ready to be engaged. Our sales team loves this because they can focus on working with an opportunity, not looking for one. I can't rave enough about their support. The community helps me solve so many different "How do I do this?" questions. When I have best practice questions, I can reach out to other Marketo users for guidance. On the rare occasions we have had to contact support for a technical issue, they get back to us ASAP - even for small concerns. In summary, Marketo is the best!

The community around Marketo is one of the best things about it. The thousands of users who participate in knowledge sharing, best practices, and support. The sheer amount of plugins available is astounding.

Cons

The cost per lead in your database. I would like to be able to have a larger database without the larger price tag.

Pros

I love how powerful Marketo is! If you have the time and manpower to run creative, thoughtful campaigns and automation, you'll be a marketing rockstar and your sales team will be closing leads all day! The Salesforce sync is fantastic, as well as additional plugins and integrations that you couldn't even dream up yourself. Seems like they've thought of everything.

Cons

It requires quite a bit of manpower and effort to be able to use Marketo to its fullest potential. A small marketing team could struggle with new ideas, troubleshooting, and having the time to fully analyze the product's ROI.

I have use Marketo for just about 4 years. I have found success in implementing new strategies through Marketo and increasing MQLs, SQLs, and customers because of it. Marketo will definitely be able to adapt to a dynamic company.

Pros

Marketo is easy to use and can be as custom and complicated as you need it to be. They have an extensive community that gives endless advice and will answer any questions you have. It is perfect for any sized company that is looking to grow and optimize their marketing operations.

Cons

I would like to see a little more from the analytics and SEO, but I believe the new UI will be enhancing these areas of the product.

Pros

Allows the seamless integration of sales and marketing processes from campaign strategy, creation of demand generated marketing campaigns, leads, and the entire sales process. It takes a more strategic approach to targeting prospects with better precision, overall internal organizational alignment, and integrated processes. It allows internal teams to collaborate more effectively, reduces time spent on more administrative task by automating the burdensome up-front tasks, and allows sales and marketing to focus on more strategic objectives - higher quality interactions with the customers, partners, etc. I can't imagine sales/marketing organizations today not leveraging demand-generation and the kinds of SaaS automation that Marketo offers.

Cons

Working with the solution in an existing organization and in demo for a start-up, we have never actually deployed it, so I can't speak to ease of integration. Not a con - just of note.

Pretty decent CRM software with a few time wasting features. I'd like to see more product updates.

Pros

I've been using Marketo for 5+ years now. It's really easy to navigate, manage leads, create campaigns, and get basic reporting.

Cons

it can sometimes take upwards of an hour for the system to process leads and send an email to a larger sized list. Email reporting could be better. There have been several outages in the last year where everyone was unable to login to the system, all site forms were down, and anyone with emails scheduled to go out during the outage were pretty much helpless.

It's as much a powerful resource for sales as it is for marketing in an integrative approach so I'd involve key stakeholders from sales in evaluating. The online demos are worth reviewing.

Pros

In today's fast paced, multi-channel environment where the abundance of information people receive in any given day exceeds the ability to process it all, I can't imagine running any kind of digital business without marketing automation. Marketo's offering is intuitive, integrates well with another cloud-based email, CRM, social, etc and has inherent capabilities to leverage best processes throughout an entire marketing/ sales lifecycle. I have only demo'd the product, used as a user, and been trained on, but have evaluated for a start-up where I would consider it essential for those embarking on digital campaigns to drive multi-channel sales.

Cons

I have not been involved in a full implementation, roll-out, and integration as a purchaser (only in business development), so I can't speak to that or any long term outcomes from initiatives, although the value is quite clear.

Cons

Pros

Using smart campaigns you can automate marketing processes. Integrates with almost any other marketing tools you would use.

Cons

It's not intuitive. It is way more complicated than it needs to and basically requires a full time dedicated person(s) to use effectively. Customer support is basically nonexistant unless you pay for it. All the bells and whistles are there but you have to pay extra for them all. Other automation tools do similar for less.

Lead scoring is second to none. Helps us identify top quality leads based on actions, not assumptions.

Pros

Marketo's scoring system has helped our sales team increase their close rate by 30% by helping them focus on top quality leads. Targeting our ideal leads used to be a headache, now it's fun and exciting. I really can't say enough about this technology.

Cons

You have to learn how to score your lead acquisition funnels and what actions are important, but you will learn as you go and they have great support to help you along the way.

Pros

This is a super powerful and valuable tool. The amount of detail you can collect on your marketing contacts is amazing. You can then take that information and tailor numerous amounts of outreach and communication in a very personalized way. I love this software and after using other comparable ones, think that it is the best around.

Cons

There is a significant learning curve with this. Unlike other similar softwares, this is not as user friendly. That being said, once trained, it is easy to navigate.

Pros

This is a powerful tool that we use to generate and follow up with our leads. We can build our segments with very specific criteria and even trigger messages based on CRM data.

Cons

This requires a fair amount of development resources to connect and sync properly and also requires a fair amount of technical acumen to maintain. It is both powerful and complex.

Been using Marketo for close to a year, and in this time have gone from complete novice to Marketo geek. It is packed with functionality, which is often underused because it has been set up wrongly, or you've never learnt how to use it. There is LOADS of help on their site, including how-to docs and a very active, helpful community. Make sure to get set up by experts, and USE THE DOCS to learn.

Pros

\- Very powerful - so, so much more than an email marketing platform. - When set up properly, reporting becomes tonnes easier. - Becomes a crucial backbone for growing a marketing department. - Great support docs and superb community.

Cons

\- Time consuming and confusing at times. - We've had a fair few bugs. - Very expensive.

Such a great tool to that is easy for anyone to learn. Easy flows for all marketing execution when it comes to email, social and contact management. All of our partners love it so far!

Cons

Reporting so far is not too telling based off what we see from both the internal team as well as reported by our partners.
