Pros

It is great as a sales rep to be able to see what each prospect has done on our site and their digital footprint with our company as a whole.

Cons

The tool itself is very complex and difficult to use if you aren't a Marketo trained marketer. Making Marketo more sales oriented would make it much more beneficial for teams outside marketing to use.

Pros

Marketo is a very easy to use platform. With no prior marketing automation experience, I was able to master the functionality of the product by reading the documentation and reaching out to the members of the Marketo community. The level of customization you can build into Marketo allows me to scale the marketing efforts of our team from a systems standpoint, whether it be workflows (smart campaigns), building email and landing page assets, or integrating with other Launchpoint vendors or the Marketo API, I am able to use Marketo to implement scalable solutions to my company's automation needs.

Cons

The integration with SFDC Custom Objects is great, but not complete in my opinion. For companies that use a lot of Salesforce custom objects and want to utilize the data on those objects for marketing campaigns, expect to need some assistance if you aren't a developer. The Analytics section of Marketo (not speaking to RCE here) is very much "out of the box" reporting that doesn't allow for too much customization. Typically, I have to pull reports into Excel for further analysis. This is why it's extremely important for first-time Marketo customers to set up a proper naming convention to make reporting a bit easier in Marketo and for circumstances when you need to pull data into Excel.

Very effective for company's growth, serve best for marketing perspective (everything on a single platform)

Pros

There is no doubt, Marketo has a vast list of features and functions on a single platform, which allows us engaging in social sharing, promotion and engagement. Something I like the most about Marketo is, we can customize the modular system as per our needs or as per our marketing strategies. Along with that, the analytics and reports do all the justice to track campaigns or the summary of the company's growth through viable data.

Cons

Though Marketo gives access to integrate and customize the solution, the interface looks little bit old, can make it more attractive. Too many functions, the processes need to be simplified, not that easy. Need more engagement in customer support.

Pros

I can say Marketo is a marketing platform that every businesses must give their trust. In a short period of time, its unbelievable help to every company is what made us try this app. too. We like that it can be integrated with other apps as well, such a perfect lead management tool.

Cons

You may not consider this tool as one of the easiest tool to use, but you won't regret choosing Marketo as your lead management tool. Training is need at first, but not having a doubt of using this so far.

Pros

It's intuitive, easy to navigate, and the release/feature updates are generally exciting and impactful. Marketo has a fantastically organized product docs section, as well as an amazing active community with almost unlimited resources to consume. With a recent evolution to their Landing page and Email editors it's now easier than ever to create guided templates for repeated use and set yourself up for delivering truly personalized content.

Cons

It's difficult to find something I don't like when Marketo has delivered time and time again. When I do have something I don't like it typically is fixed or enhanced in future releases.

Pros

We use Marketo for web forms on our website. The forms are easy to put together and use, giving us an easy way of capturing leads visiting the site.

Cons

The platform looks rather dated (although there have been a few updates addressing that recently) and it can be quite sluggish when navigating data. Speed and UI improvements would be greatly appreciated.

Pros

Marketo is super easy to use. Especially for Email Marketing, Landing Page Design, Segmentation, etc. It has a lot of different options and functions which is great for a wide variety of business problems.

Cons

Marketo can have some bugs (in email/landing page creation, HTML, etc.). The design and templates sometimes lack customizability and flexibility.

NONE! I've sent emails that I've double and triple checked for formatting and responsiveness only to be horrified at what actually got delivered to my contacts' inboxes.

Cons

Digging deeper, Marketo's integration with Salesforce leaves much to be desired. The conditional formatting required for certain list pulls is incredibly (and unnecessarily) complicated. Furthermore, the folder nesting setup is far from intuitive, and the corresponding icons are no help either. I honestly think the software needs a complete and total overhaul. STAY AWAY! FAR AWAY! It is the least user-friendly marketing automation software I have ever used. Their naming conventions are nonsensical and it's impossible to find what you need when you need it.

I've used Marketo and the other two large marketing automation tools over the last 7 years. All the platforms are valuable, but where Marketo really stands above the rest is in its rich feature sets and ease-of-use. It also has a fabulous user community, the best that I've seen of any software solution. The very active and helpful user community even rivals that of Salesforce CRM, and S CRM has a LOT more users in their community. I do a fair amount of side consulting, and whenever I'm making recommendations for marketing automation software I first recommend Marketo.

Pros

1\. Super feature rich. 2. Very scalable - I can clone and launch new programs, webinars, nurturing drip campaigns, etc. very quickly. 3. Best user community around.

Cons

While the user community is an excellent resource for finding solutions to problems you may run into, I don't feel like their support is as fabulous as the rest of the solution. While support is good, it's not amazing - and amazing is something I've come to expect from Marketo.

Pros

Easy to send emails, track opt outs, email regular reports, connect to Salesforce. Huge, helpful community of users.

Cons

Anything custom tends to be tricky and require hacks plus a visit to customer forums. Requires significant training before use, not intuitive at all.

Marketo is an amazing platform to help stay connected with our customers around the clock. It's amazing how much easier it has been for us to continue to grow our marketing efforts with a platform like Marketo. There is a reason why all the major players are using Market, now we know why!

Cons

It can be a bit overwhelming to really take in the various functions that Marketo is able to perform in. While that is not necessarily a bad thing, it does require taking the time to really understand the platform or find the right driver for it!

Overall, I would not recommend Marketo Marketing Automation until they finally update their code editor. It might be good for people without any technical skills, but painfully hard to use when you do.

Pros

Marketo as a customer relationship management tool is good. It has some great analytics and lead generation tools.

Cons

I was in charge of creating templates (both landing pages and emails) for Marketo. The WYSIWYG editor is one of the worst I've ever used, and incredibly slow (think 20-30 seconds per page load, on a 1Gbps internet connection).

Pros

The community is top notch with no end to advice and help as well as industry best practice education. With the product itself, I am not sure how we operated without it. While there is an initial learning curve, the ease in which one can create campaigns, clone templates/campaigns, generate complex functionality in simple smart list/flow methodology (think: if this then that) all make this an industry leading product.

Cons

There is a bit of a learning curve. It would be nice to have something akin to Litmus built into the product (there is something similar but not as robust nor as easy to use).

After a multi-month search for a new marketing automation solution, our team settled on three finalists: Marketo, IBM/SilverPop and Adobe Campaign. While all three platforms provided excellent high-end functionality, we ultimately went with Marketo due to the perceived ease of use and out-of-the-box functionality. We were not disappointed.

Pros

Our team was able to get Marketo up and running in 15 days to send emails. This is NOT a standard timeframe, and we have a dedicated and very motivated team. Service and training to date have been excellent.

Cons

If you have a many-many database, think carefully and have good internal conversations before selecting Marketo. We moved from ExactTarget to Marketo, and discovered multiple challenges with our data structure during and after implementation. Long-term, we expect this to be solved with the implementation of a new CRM solution, but it has caused some short-term growing pains.
