Pros Great for use on both mobile and desktop. It is an easy to maneuver tool that tracks resources and employees to see where time is being spend and help make better decisions on how to meet goals and deadlines. Cons One con would be that notifications only go to the primary account, whereas it would be highly useful to have the entire project team notified. Owner Performing Arts Used the software for: 2+ years ### "PayPal Business Payments" November 14, 2018 4.0 PayPal Business Payments is the reason I use Harvest - because it is affordable for my company Pros PayPal Business Payments for Invoicing - You can choose to do an "e-check" and avoid credit card processing fee's by using PayPal's Business Payments which is only offered on Harvest, Freshbooks and Quickbooks (from my understanding). It doesnt matter the total of your invoice, the fee to receive is only 50 cents per invoice. It's saved my company thousands of dollars I also love that it will send reoccurring invoices until it is paid, and you can view when someone opens the invoice Cons I have no cons. It works as described. If I had to pick, I wish that I could schedule invoices to send - which may be possible but haven't tried it yet. Review Source JR Jeffrey R. September 25, 2018 5.0 I just installed it yesterday and have already utilized it's data in several different ways. This Add-ON was SPOT-ON. Pros I needed a time tracker to use seamlessly with Basecamp. Did my research - I needed to be able to track time without using "Projects" in Basecamp. To my surprise, Harvest did this exactly how I needed it to work. I had contacted their customer service to ask if this would work, but event before they contacted me back, which was very quickly, I synced the programs and Whallah! It was done and easy. I was able to pull reports right away. Easy to enter, easy to change, easy to report, easy to....well...hopefully you get the picture - it was Easy! Cons Their options for just one person were exactly what I needed - so for me, there is nothing I didn't like. For larger groups - I would imagine this could get pricy. Review Source Mitchell A. Pros It is easy to use and understand. Very self-explanatory! I also like that there is an app that you can use from your desktop. The formatting of invoices and ease of entering timesheets makes this a great tool for freelancers. Cons The creating a new client workflow from an invoice when you have forgotten to add a client can be a little confusing as you need to then go to the client area to add a contact for the client. Different reports can be extracted and reviewed later. You can follow up a project and check how much time it took you to finish the task, this is very useful if you are charging per hour. Employees in our organization submit a weekly sheet which can be edited, they can also observe their work through the week and improve themselves for the next project, you can also use it on a different devices. It is easy to create new projects and log time in an organized fashion. I also like how it prompts you after you have been idle to see if you want to continue to log the time you were away. Cons I have the app for Mac and occasionally it will randomly stop timing or the timing will be off by a significant amount. Because of this is I try to just use the website as one source of truth. Used the software for: ### "Missing basic accounting methods and doesn't account for basic business practices" December 29, 2016 1.0 Imagine you just gave one of your employees a raise. This effectively changes the cost of your employee, as well as the billable rate. In Harvest, once you change the cost, that change also effects all the historical data costs for that employee, thus throwing off all your historical data cost reports. (why the heck would it do that? how the heck do you know what your true costs are for tax purposes if all the historical data is updated too?) After you change the cost, you now need to change the billable rate too,..but wait!...not so easy. Harvest can't handle this basic accounting function either. You essentially have to duplicate your project, adjust the persons billable costs in the duplicate project, and then archive the old project,...meaning you now have 2 project codes for one job. Now imagine if you give several of your employees a raise every year(at different times within the year) and they also work on more than one project at a time,..you could essentially generate 100's of duplicate project codes, for one job. Either I am being fed bad customer support or this software is missing key features that any normal business will need for proper accounting. It frustrates the heck out of me to have this goofy work around!! :( Harvest,..if you are paying attention....update your software to accommodate employee cost and billable rate changes accurately, with an EFFECTIVE DATE and with some sense of simplicity. I was able to pick it up and customize it in a few minutes for my own freelancing, and have a few bookkeeping clients that use it for employee time tracking and invoicing. The invoices sync nicely to QuickBooks Online and look good when you send them to customers. The time tracking is decently intuitive and easy to set up. Cons We wanted to use Harvest at my firm, but the time tracking doesn’t sync the way we need it to with our firm’s idiosyncrasies. We were able to set up TSheets the way we needed to, which is not really a knock on Harvest; Harvest’s biggest selling point is how easy it is to use out of the box. That means it’s a little less flexible and customizable than other things, but honestly I think most people would find it worth the money. Review Source KT Konstantinos T. You won't go wrong if you select Harvest for your business. Pros Harvest is simple to use with a robust set of time tracking, reporting and invoicing features as well as integrations with common project management platforms and cloud-based finance systems. Cons Since Harvest handles only time tracking, reporting and invoicing, if you're a business who sells their time and you use another third-party tool to manage that work, Harvest is a little distanced and doesn't always provide the deep integration you might like. As a Jira Software user, Tempo was a more obvious choice despite being not quite so fully featured and having to pair it with Clerk Invoices. Review Source AG Amanda G. Marketing Marketing and Advertising Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Simple time tracking tool " January 8, 2020 5.0 Overall it's a good tool if you want to get a better sense of where you team is spending time to try and identify time sucks. Pros I like that it is easy to enter time in whichever way you find easiest/how your mind works (i.e. you can enter .5 or :30 - both track as a half hour). Also like that it doesn't require you to put in the exact time of day (b/c who really cares?), just the amount of time (what you're really monitoring in most cases). This makes entering faster. Cons As a freelancer I use this tool, along with all marketing staff at the company, to help management at a large media company track where time is spent. Overall it's easy to use but I don't like using it simply b/c it's an extra thing to track. No fault to Harvest and their product - just that using it is extra work for me.
