September 3, 2026 1.0 Awful, rapacious, opportunistic pricing that seeks to gouge users who feel they can't easily leave, but you can! We did and it was dead easy. Pros Just as good as Keito BUT it cost 2000% more so we switched! Both have time-keeping, reporting, invoicing, expense handling etc and are incredibly similar. Harvest data can be imported into Keito automatically making transition so simple. While Harvest was always a great software, it's unfortunately now uneconomical. Cons In September 2026 we were told our subscription was going up from USD1,000 to around USD12,000 a year - a rise of 1200%. That's because it has been bought by Bending Spoons, which buys tech companies and astronomically hikes up subscription costs. The only problem with taking your data out of Harvest is that Harvest tries to hide the 'software user ID' you need to extract your data, but it's there - you just have to google how to get hold of it. The cost of Harvest makes it totally uneconomical. Their advertised prices are completely disingenuous as they don't include the usage-based additional costs (which they don't publish!). Having used Harvest for over a decade, we were able to transition all our data to Keito within 24 hours. A total no-brainer. The interface is intuitive, and it takes very little effort to start or update a timer throughout the workday. That simplicity makes it easier to keep timesheets accurate without creating extra administrative work for the team. I also appreciate how clearly Harvest shows hours, budgets, and billable activity at the project level. The reporting, in spite of previously shared criticism, works reasonable well for quick status checks. Integrations with other business tools help reduce duplicate work and keep our processes connected. That said, resource planning feels less seamless because Forecast is a separate product rather than a built-in feature. Pricing can also become difficult to justify as the team and usage grow. Despite those limitations, Harvest remains a reliable and user-friendly tool for tracking time and maintaining visibility into project performance. Pros Harvest makes time tracking quick and painless, so it’s easy to keep timesheets accurate without disrupting the workday. I also like how smoothly logged hours flow into project reporting and invoicing. Cons Harvest handles the basics well, but some important capabilities feel either underdeveloped or locked behind additional products and higher-priced plans. Leider hat sich das Blatt mit der Übernahme durch Bending Spoons komplett gewendet. Die allgemeine Erfahrung ist mittlerweile von tiefem Misstrauen und Frustration geprägt. Das Tool fühlt sich nicht mehr wie eine Unterstützung für mein Business an, sondern wie eine finanzielle Falle. Das klammheimlich eingeführte nutzungsbasierte Preismodell bestraft einen regelrecht für das eigene Geschäftswachstum – je mehr Kunden und Projekte man hat, desto unverschämter und unkalkulierbarer wird die Rechnung. Ein verlässliches Werkzeug muss für Freelancer und Agenturen zwingend planbare Kosten haben. Das ist bei Harvest absolut nicht mehr gegeben. Das einstige Vertrauen ist restlos zerstört, und mein Hauptfokus liegt nun ausschließlich darauf, all meine Daten so schnell wie möglich zu einem seriösen Anbieter umzuziehen. Pros Die Kernfunktionen haben in der Vergangenheit gut und zuverlässig funktioniert: Die reine Zeiterfassung, das Erstellen von Angeboten und das Schreiben von Rechnungen waren immer einfach und intuitiv. Das war der Grund, warum ich Harvest ursprünglich genutzt habe. Das alte Harvest war super. Cons Seit der Übernahme durch "Bending Spoons" rate ich dringend von Harvest ab! Die Software wurde in eine völlig intransparente Kostenfalle verwandelt. Es wurde heimlich ein "Usage-based Pricing" (nutzungsbasierte Preise) eingeführt, das auf der Website komplett verschleiert wird. Dort wird weiterhin mit einem normalen Grundpreis pro Nutzer geworben. Was einem verschwiegen wird: Es gibt jetzt künstlich extrem niedrig angesetzte Limits für die Anzahl der Projekte, Kunden oder Rechnungen. Sobald man diese Limits überschreitet – also die Software einfach nur normal für sein wachsendes Geschäft nutzt –, werden ohne Vorwarnung horrende Zusatz- und Strafgebühren fällig. Die Rechnungen explodieren völlig unberechenbar und vervielfachen sich teilweise im Vergleich zu früher. Zudem werden Nutzer teilweise ungefragt in deutlich teurere Tarife hochgestuft. Echte neue Funktionen, die solche Preissteigerungen auch nur ansatzweise rechtfertigen würden, gibt es nicht. Hier wird ein ehemals treuer Kundenstamm nur noch gnadenlos abkassiert. Im Vergleich zu anderen, oft völlig überladenen Tools auf dem Markt, waren die Kosten bei Harvest zu 100 % planbar und das Tool hat den Arbeitsalltag wirklich erleichtert. However, the undisclosed $80 application fee on free trial accounts effectively makes the platform a costly trap for new users evaluating the software. The benefit of seamless invoicing is completely undermined when 7% of your invoice disappears without warning and support refuses to make it right. Pros The time tracking interface is clean and intuitive. Logging hours against specific clients and projects is straightforward, and converting tracked time into an invoice is seamless. The Stripe integration setup was also simple and quick. Cons Harvest silently deducts an $80 application fee from invoice payments on free trial accounts — on top of Stripe's standard processing fees. On my first $2,000 invoice, I received only $1,861.70 with zero prior warning. There is no disclosure during onboarding, no warning when setting up Stripe, and nothing shown before the client pays. Customer support was extremely unhelpful — they cited an irrelevant cancellation policy, failed to read my issue, and billing ultimately offered no resolution despite multiple follow-ups. Cons We have been longtime Harvest customers and were recently notified that our pricing would increase from approximately $6,000 per year to $30,000 per year, a 5x increase. When we questioned the increase, we were told the new pricing already reflected an 85% discount. Having worked in a previous organization that required time tracking, yet didn’t have a tool implemented, it was so cumbersome to maintain my time on a spreadsheet. I also appreciate the ability to make changes—if I forget to switch my timer between clients, or if I attend an event not in front of my computer (where I didn’t start a time on my phone). Cons Nothing—gets the job done well for my use case! It could be nice if using the PTO code would sync with PTO tracking in our HRIS, but it’s possible that’s a setting our team hadn’t enabled. Pros From a user perspective it is easy to use and manage and the expense capture from the phone app makes it very easy to capture as soon as you get a receipt in your hand. Cons The calendar is set to a standard working week (Mon to Fri) however when with clients in Saudi Arabia the working week is Sunday to Thursday so a week is split over 2 time sheets and can't be adjusted. It simplifies my time tracking and invoicing so I can focus on building applications. Pros I love the MacOS app, which sits at the top of my screen. In particular, I love the feature which detects when I've been inactive so I can remove any time I might have recorded when I'd accidentally left the timer running. Several of my clients have also commented on how well presented the time reports are that I send over to show where my billable time has been spent. Cons Although the Android application is useful, it doesn't have feature parity with the desktop website. You can't view things like the "uninvoiced amount" (if it is there, I can't seem to find it) which is something I check regularly on the desktop. That’s all I want from a tool. It does its job well. Pros It’s easy to use and never glitchy, which is important when tracking hours. Real time sync between phone app and laptop version. Cons That the work week is from Sunday to Saturday only and you can’t adjust that. The result is that it’s not synced perfectly with payroll (Rippling) work week. It's super helpful to be able to see how long various tasks that I assign to team members are taking, and to be able to look at an overview of each of my projects as a whole and ultimately generate a nice looking invoice for clients. Pros I love how easy and intuitive is it to use Harvest. Tracking time across my various projects is completely painless, and it's super helpful to be able to generate reports and handle invoices! I also use to review and monitor my direct report's times. Pros I like that it is a simple, straightforward way to set up time tracking which is crucial for billable time. We are able to put together exactly the project codes needed, and I love the start and stop timer. Cons I have found the timer is sometimes glitchy and seems to get stuck which can leave time under-reported. For a newbie, it is a good time tracking program but still need more advanced functionality. Pros The platform is simple and accurate. It offers integration with many other project management tools including Asana and Google Calender. Setting up time tracking for individual projects is easy and flexible. You can anytime edit start and end date for any project without any issues. Project invoice generation is flawless and easy. Cons It doesn't offer automatic time tracking and we have to manually enter the values for each project. They offer limited features for free plan which I don't think is a big limitation.
