It does provide some basic forecasting which has been nice to have as well. Pros You can track your time and expenses from literally anywhere with relative ease. Harvest provides: Desktop apps for Windows and Mac, browser extensions, and mobile apps for Android/iOS. Cons There are few small things here and there which don't impact the performance of the product but would be nice to have. For example you can create and send estimates but you cannot convert estimates into invoices. Also, some reports can be very long and they can't be filtered. December 5, 2017 4.0 Harvest has made it easy to track team utilization (critical for a services based business). It also makes it super simple to invoice time (not to mention follow up on invoices). Reporting and team visibility has also been huge for our functional teams Pros Harvest is easy to use on any platform, and has direct integrations into just about any other productivity tool you can think of. I love the Team visibility and reporting. Invoicing is super easy as well. Cons I wish Harvest made it easier to switch between multiple accounts (for example, business and personal) where different email addresses are used. It is an app that I can use on my computer, phone, or tablet which makes it convenient to access anywhere. You can also set a budget for a client to ensure you are not spending more time than you will be paid for. Pros I like being able to easily track my time for a client and also being able to categorize the work. I can also track additional expenses that will need reimbursement. Harvest makes it easy to create and submit an invoice for the time I have worked. Cons The free version is very limited and so most companies will need to pay for the app to use it. Pros Its new ability to turn time from your time sheet into an invoice, modify if needed, and send from within software (if adding their email) Cons It doesn't have the window-screenshot tracking, if you have a VA on the system, but they still charge for more users. My team uses it to gauge project health and to track time spent on different phases and features. Along with it's companion product, Harvest Forecast, we use it to plan and compare estimates with real data to hone our quotes and improve our process. Pros Harvest madness time tracking easy and painless, with different views (daily, weekly) that make it a breeze to review and submit timesheets. I also enjoyed that you could carry over tasks rather than have to enter them in separately each time. Pros I enjoyed the layout of Harvest. It was an intuitive software if you had to rely solely on time tracking for one company. Cons We had two companies that we had to track time for and I would have appreciate some synergy or the ability to work within both companies without having to log out and in. Its easy to use, has a nice clean appearance, and allows our my team to accurately track their time. Pros Our studio tried a lot of different time tracking programs before landing on Harvest. Its really easy to create new projects, track time against them, and create monthly invoices to send to clients. There is a desktop app that a lot of my designers use that makes it really easy for them to track their time accurately as well. Cons I haven't found a major issue with Harvest. For my needs, as a team leader, it works great. Though Im not sure what the experience is like for my director who has greater admin access. It works well on desktop and mobile. It's also great for generating professional-looking invoices and tracking payment and expenses. Cons The ONLY thing I don't like about Harvest is that funds deposited into a "retainer" don't show up in the financial report as income. I may have misunderstood the purpose of retainers when I first set up my account. Since then, they have added recurring invoice functionality, which eliminates the need for retainers (for my purposes). Review Source Kerala T. I don't generally like tracking my time, and at my current job, I need to track it much more closely than I have in previous positions since I have billable hours. But it's easy to use it throughout the day and the new feature that integrates with my calendar has come in handy for times when I forget to track meetings. Cons I wish there was a tagging feature that allowed us to better track what we spend our time on within the categories that we set up in the system. It's rather laborious to set up new projects/categories, so having a more nimble way to sub-categorize our time, like tagging, would be helpful. Review Source JM Julie M. April 16, 2020 5.0 I really enjoyed using Harvest as the simple and easy time tracking tool it was. There were many benefits! Pros I used Harvest to track my project and time spent working on them, then I'd generate invoices for my clients to pay. I really enjoyed how easy it was to set up new clients and new projects Cons What I liked least about the product was probably the rigidity. If you had something sort of off the wall that you do for your clients, it may be interesting trying to get Harvest to work properly for you. Pros Harvest is an excellent time tracking and invoicing tool for small design shops. The time tracking interface is clean, modern and easy to use. Projects can be found by name or project number. You can assign different tasks and people to a job. The invoicing is one click and can be easily modified. I've used it for years and don't intend to change. Love the ability to turn on the time clock when you start a project and turn it off when you are finished. It's all there, easily accessible from a single online platform. For my solo enterprise, it's less than $15/month, which is an incredible bargain. Pros \- So easy to do everything: time tracking, invoicing, expenses. The whole platform is intuitive and easily navigable. - Flexible time tracking: either setting a timer or entering into a timesheet-like interface. - The system can send invoice reminders on your behalf, so it's not like you personally bugging your contact. - You get to choose -- through checkboxes -- how detailed you want your invoices to be. - Invoices are globally configurable, so you can set up your template with logo, recurring info, etc. - At a glance, you can see how much you have invoiced/received over the year/last year/etc. and which invoices are outstanding. - Every end-of-week you get a report that shows how you spent your tracked time. Pros The chrome extension makes this really easy to track the time you spend working on a particular client. With the click of a button you can select the client you are working on via a dropdown menu and you just hit 'start timer'. When you stop the timer you can also add in some extra details that are great when you're trying to report back on where your time has been spent. When you log into the desktop version you can view week by week and day by day. You also have access to a dashboard which visually represents where you spent your time. Cons Sometimes you leave the timer running - it's really easy to forget that it's running in the background. It does so in a simple and convenient way, without overloading on features. You can run a full agency with that software from project tracking to invoicing. Cons It is lacking any project management capabilities (e.g. Tasks management), as well as resource planning happens partially integrated through the external sister-app "forecast". I don't have to use a chrome extension, so when I'm working in Photoshop or some other offline app, I can still easily track my time! Cons The invoicing system is great ... except ... you have to choose ACH and/or credit card as a payment method globally. This is not ideal, as there are some invoices that I only want to offer ACH on (aka big ones that I don't want to pay credit card fees on).
