Pros I loved that there was absolutely no learning curve. Everything with this software is set up intuitively so that you can literally just sign up and get started. Cons I got slightly confused as to whether to add a .3 or a .5 when I was trying to indicate one half hour timeframe, then I realized it depends if you use the colon : or the period . Pros It's super easy for our team to track and manage project hours. For freelancers and small teams, it's a no-brainer decision if you need to track time. The app, web extension and easy to use website make it super easy to get people into the habbit of tracking time. Stable software. Cons The subscription fees are steep when you have a larger team. The integrations are decent enough. The reporting is clunky and not as sophisticated as it should be for the price point. I always seem to have to export to excel to get the data points I need. Pros We had many contractors working on various projects at our digital marketing agency. Harvest allowed me to have visibility into each project and provide transparency to our customers. It was easy to setup and quickly adopted by our team. Cons I really don't have anything negative to say - it worked very well for our needs. But I do not believe that we are using it to its fullest potential. Pros For what harvest is, it is great for a tracking hours. Sometimes it can be hard to keep the task organized and making sure that everyone has access to the correct task. This is something that needs to be set up in depth before it is rolled out to the whole entire team. Cons If you aren’t using this tool just to track daily work time, it is great. Pros It's very easy to track time across many projects, tasks and clients. There are features to compensate for forgetting to turn the timer off and a place to make extra notes about the time used. I love the timer feature to get an accurate measure on how long I have been working. Tracking expenses is additionally very handy on here. The app allows you to do most things you would on the website. It is even easy to pull data into a third party to analyze. Cons There isn't much I dislike. It does become difficult to customize tasks if you're not an administrator and it is easy to forget if you are timing something but both of those are more user based. Not many complaints though. Works great also on mobile. For our team of 15, this is a great tool. Cons If you have a big team and a great deal of different projects, management can become unnecessarily complicated. It's one of the best SaaS products out there. For time-tracking specifically, we found it better than other platforms such as Toggl. The user experience is super simple and it's got great reporting. Pros Harvest takes minutes to set it up and is so user-friendly, user adoption happened incredibly quickly. It was the fastest program our team adopted compared with other solutions. Firstly, the platform is accessible through multiple devices ranging from web to desktop to browser extension to mobile app to integrations with Jira. Everyone is different and the platform adapts to almost everyone's needs. Secondly, as an admin, I can go in, add users, add projects, add tasks, classify tasks as billable or non-billable, and add a bill rate if applicable. Thirdly, the platform can set reminders and people self-manage. Each week, I get everyone's timesheets on the dot, I review them, send them back if they need more information, and focus on analyzing data instead of trying to get everyone to give me updates. I love the project view because I can see where we are spending money, where we aren't, and where we need to shift resources accordingly. It's even great for reimbursements - you just snap a photo and add can add the item via the mobile app. Cons As a digital agency, we don't always bill by hourly rate or fixed firm price. Some of our clients are on monthly retainers which sadly Harvest doesn't include. It's not a deal breaker for us, but it's something that would be nice to have. Review Source Sheila C. August 1, 2018 5.0 Harvest saved me from having to purchase and learn a much-too-large software title for my small business - like QuickBooks when all I need is a simple time tracking and invoicing tool. Pros I love that the software is web-based so that no matter where I am, I can simply log in using a web browser. Additionally, Harvest offers an app for Android which allows me to track time, scan receipts for expenditures and generate invoices/accept payments. Cons I wish there was a way to add late fees/interest to invoices that are late and I wish there were a forms library to send out letters/communications that are routinely used with invoices, estimates, payments and debt collection. It takes the hassle out of the process. Nobody likes to track his of her hours in complicated and time consuming ways and Harvest solves that problem! Pros It does what it does and it does it best! Time tracking on projects has never been so easy for our organisation. We have used multiple time trackers, but were never pleased with the wat we neede to register the hours we make for our clients. The mac, windows and iOS/Android apps work great. New projects are available instantly and starting / pausing the time tracker is wonderfully done. Managing the projects, budgets and tasks is really easy and if you like, you can integrate it with Harvest Forecast and plan your team ahead. Cons Harvest lacks decent support of monthly retainer 'projects'. It's not a show stopper for us, but it makes us do manual checks of the hours we make for our clients. I would love Harvest Forecast to be part of Harvest by default instead of the invoicing functionalities, since we use other software for that. Review Source Sven D. Pros I like that this software is extremely user friendly. You only have to train someone one time for them to understand entering time correctly. Cons I sometimes have trouble reading budget bars. It seems odd that the overbudget projects red bar seems to eat back over the original budget. Visually, I think it makes sense to have the budget used up and then have the red extend past the budget bar indicating you are over budget instead of coming back and eating the blue bar up. Pros This is as simple as it gets for organizing projects, entering time and creating invoices. We process about 25 invoices per month, and this makes it all very easy, and even copies the invoices and payments over to QuickBooks directly. I've used for teams and for myself, and have made wonders in terms of having a more transparent billing mapping of worked hours and the final bill. Also it never hurts to know your real productive time. Pros \- Easy to track time. - Plethora of options to choose from, desktop app, browser extension, web app. So choose the one that fits you well. - Ability to track projects, and manage teams - There is a free trial of 30 days, with no credit card needed. - Ability to integrate it with other tools, via their integrations. Cons Not much really, I'm not a big fan of the interface and sometimes bugs appear specially when checking for old registers. But as in most software they get fixed really quick. It has made my graphic and web design business a lot more efficient Pros Prior to using Harvest, I tried several different options for time tracking and invoicing clients. All of which didn't quite fit my needs for my graphic and web design business. Harvest has been the perfect fit for me. It allows me to organize items by client and individual projects under that client. I can easily start and stop timers to track my time on projects and then quickly create invoices to bill clients. You can run reports to track how your business is doing on invoices for the month, quarter or year. You can also track expenses. It has the capability to integrate into quickbooks as well. Cons I can't think of anything that I don't like about this software really. If I absolutely had to name something, setting up information/logo for invoices in the very beginning was a little tricky but easily solved by reading tutorial.
