From 200 members to over 1,300 members, we have been part of Wild Apricot's growth and continued focus on upgrading and improving the technology we need to serve our clients. The ease of learning and using Wild Apricot is a huge part of our success in providing our clients with consistent real time information that allows our clients to offer their members all the services, information resources and communication tools they require. At times, I can tell if a lot of people are on it or not based on the number sequence when I'm creating multiple events I'm doing. When fewer people are using it, it tends to work better so I will sometimes hold off if it's glitchy and wait for another time. Pros The ease of doing so and the availability to get support and training in a variety of ways - calls, FAQ, chat, webinars. Cons I often find it glitchy when I'm working on emails. In the notification area, I will often finish my notice and once I save, it leads me to an error page. Then, I have to navigate back to where I was and redo my work. Pros We used Wild Apricot to manage about 300 dues paying members. The annual dues collection was great as well as the ability to make different areas for different levels of membership. Then registering for events and collecting money was easy. Cons We really joined hoping for a listserve functionality and the developers kept prromising one but it never actually happened. They answer the phone all the time and work for solutions. Yes, there are a few things I would like changed but overall it saved our small organization. We are a nonprofit made up of only volunteers (no full time employees). Thank you for your comment to this software. Check our website out; we are a group of Artist with over 200 members and growing. Our people are starting to use their members photos so it is exciting. Take Care Pros Membership management, Easy of posting to website, Albums for our members (their art work is getting attention), Donation and payments, Just about everything is great....Oh email in one system and don't have to do constant contact. Cons Need help with members directory....not responding to changes very easily .... had to rebuild several times to get it working. Also, would love to see a flag or way to highlight members who are using their albums. I did figure out a work around by adding a yes/no button to the members questionnaire. Once the member click yes they are using their photo album, I have a saved search that pulls that member to a special membership directory "Members Ark Work to Review". This allowed me to direct viewers to this list instead of the membership directory to view art work. We only had 35 members of 204 using their albums. We appreciated the communication from the team at Wild Apricot, though, it became a bit overbearing the closer to the end of the trial. As I said, a great product, but I feel the free trial could be longer or offer some type of program for small nonprofits with minimal funding. Pros Wild Apricot is great for our nonprofit. We are able to track membership and implement new campaigns through this software. The software is robust and has a great deal to offer small and large organizations. Overall, it is a one-stop assistant for our management team needs. Cons The free trial is decent (30 days), but to get the full benefit, obviously, you need to purchase the software. This can be pricey. My only wish is that there was a deeper discount for small non-profits with minimal start-up funding. Or at least extend the free trial to 90 days. Review Source JG John G. This software spared us the tedium of managing signups and renewals for a small sports group (250+ members). It also provides a simple website interface that I can customize without being a programmer. I am also happy with the development of the software over the years in response to users' requests. I really wasn't looking forward to it. One of my friends recommended Wild Apricot as an option so I checked it out with their free trial. It was tremendously simple to use and juggle all of the event information in one place. There were still a few manual offline items to keep track of, but Wild Apricot was so much better! The ability to check in folks from my Galaxy phone was a Godsend, too. Cons I was lucky enough to take care of everything I needed within their free trial period, but I'd be happy to pay for their software if I ever had use of it again. I wish there were free options for non-profits, but that only applies for smaller users. Great software overall, though. It has worked wonders. We have been able to increase membership, get our members to make all transactions through the website and we are able to make changes to the website without engaging an IT professional. Great cost savings! Pros I like that it is a one stop shop for association management. It is easy to use and you get so much for the money! The website features and options are great, the membership, event and donation features are wonderful. Pros Even thought I started the use of Wild Apricot I found a thirty party company Site to be seen that could take my ideas and create a much better website than me. Using Wild Apricot. I could use them to do things in less the half the time it would take me. However, I can still make the minor changes if needed. There are some issues with the event Scheduling, in that most of my events are posted at the beginning of the year so that I can track interest and participation from my members. Most of my members sign up for events as soon as they are posted. Sometimes situations arrive through the year, where they are unable to attend. There is currently no way once registered for an event, to cancel the registration if something comes up. In addition, some of my events require certain memberships to pay a fee to attend, If they need to cancel and reschedule for a different event it would be nice if they had a way to do that without having to pay again. We do not give refunds but I'm stuck with the task of keeping track of Cancellations and Rescheduling Manually. Pros It is so easy to communicate with my members, notify them of events and remind them of events. Cons Too Much Administrative Emails every time an action is performed by a member. It would be nice if instead (1) email came in Weekly or Monthly to summarize activity especially Event registrations, why can't there be an email option to receive a list of registrants for each event instead of notification every time someone registers. Pros I really enjoy the ease it is to set up stuff like events or to add members/contacts. Cons Honestly, there price hike in July has been unsettling. The price to begin was already kind of high and now its 20% higher. Reason for choosing WildApricot Wild Apricot at the time was the best option for us but now it is time to move on. Cons Two price increases within 12-months with only a 2-month warning on the second increase; decline in customer service with responses to an email inquiry taking more than three days and phone calls not getting returned. We are not strong in business or computer skills. But creating a website is so easy, and just the automatic membership renewal process makes it worth its price. Pricing is manageable for the smallest of organizations, and the features are so valuable. It is easy to create events, track registrations, collect dues and fees and communicate with your members and that is all in addition to the website that is so easy to build. The support team is excellent. They are always ready to help and want to know what they can do to improve, and improvements happen often. A great product, easy to use. Pros Easy to use, lots of functions to organize your group, easy to manage registrations, dues and renewals. It is great for small business or non-profit organizations because of the price and relative ease of use. Cons Wild Apricot does not have the functionality of other contact management systems. The app that allows for remote access has been great as well. We had been hopeful about the invoicing as well but have not been successful in integrating with Quick Books and have found technical support very limited both from Wild Apricot and Quick Books. Pros I like the potential and possibilities of Wild Apricot. While the software does provide a one stop shop for maintaining member contact information, billing and event promotion and registration, each of these features are limited and require accommodations to take advantage of them. Cons Constraints and limitations of each of the features has been a frustration. Work arounds are required to use the software. Setting up the site was not intuitive or easy (and we ultimately engaged our technology consultants to assist). The Quick Books interface is weak and neither Wild Apricot or Quick Books have much experience or insight in helping work through set up or troubleshooting. I moved the information over from a previous website to the Wild Apricot website. I did not do much of the administrative work until later. I made minor spelling and informational changes to the website and handled the updating of member information. At that time HEA had administrative help and I supervised the administrator, so I knew how to do some of the tasks and could find answers. More recently, I assumed more duties as Treasurer of the organization, so I had to figure out how to do more of the accounting tasks. Previous administrators utilized phone calls to resolve problems, but I have not done that, yet. With the help of another volunteer, we figured out how to do many more tasks, pertaining to membership, accounting and messaging The help section usually gave us the answers. I would recommend Wild Apricot to other small organizations because it can be customized. I am an older woman, so I have usually have problems with terminology and the technical aspects of using computers, but I persisted and learned to do many of the necessary tasks. Owner Used the software for: ### "Wild Apricot helps tame many membership organization issues" July 17, 2009 4.0 Other choices that I've considered for groups include eTapestry, MemberClicks, and CitySoft, but according to my research, their costs, complexity and features are generally not as good a match as Wild Apricot for smaller charities. All in all, I am confident in suggesting WA as a choice for nonprofits and associations. I've implemented sites for a number of clients and have been satisfied with the services and options available for every one. Pros Flat, all-inclusive fees for system access, regular upgrades and support. They do not charge a setup fee, customization fees, training fee, or per-transaction fees. Credit card processing fees are handled directly between you and the payment processor (PayPal). The software is very simple to learn and use, and you can 'farm out' some of the maintenance tasks to volunteers if you want (through different levels of site access). You'll find contact database management features, an online donations page, and event management features, among other offerings. They provide a free 30-day trial if you want to test-drive the features, and there is a discount for annual contracts. Frequent updates are provided automatically, and often include member-requested enhancements. Their e-newsletters and blogs even include helpful information of more general use to associations and nonprofits. Cons Knowledge of CSS and HTML are helpful if you really need to have things look a certain way. Event management can sometimes be clunky for more complex programming choices. Pros Excellent combination of powerful member management tools with integration into a great website templates. Absolutely fantastic even for non-IT professionals. It enables you to easily (really!) create a nice looking site with being very techy. As a non-profit we could not afford to invest in major web development and thanks to Wild Apricot we are able to run a professional looking website, and manage our membership easily. Contact databases, events and membership management functionalities are easy to use and quite flexible too, with the possibility of customizing to the needs of most organizations. Wild Apricot has great response time to clients' requests for information or help. They are always very thorough in their answers, and kind and considerate too, which is extremely pleasant. Furthermore, their development plan is really driven by the needs of their customers ensuring that most demands are met at some point or another. Cons Any "cons" are quickly read by Wild Apricot as client requests and transformed into upgraded into new functionalities in the next update! At this day, the improvements that could be made are in facilitating the web page editing and formatting (fonts, tables, etc.) and new functionalities in membership management which are probably in the pipeline anyway. Pros My experience with Wild Apricot has been fabulous!! From the very start with the free trial to the details of the well thought out features...AMAZING! I really enjoy the ease of the backend and being able to teach others how to use this service is so simple! What is really great is how it is so easy to quickly post events to the calendar and schedule reminder emails. Also, what I like is the ways in which you can customize your site for your group, so many options and sooooo easy to implement! The cost of this service is very affordable, before finding Wild Apricot I was paying 4 times more each month for a more complex & hard to use service oh and they also charged a HUGE set up fee...Thank you Wild Apricot! Cons My ONLY two complaints... #1 is that I have never spoken to a live person when calling in the help/support line...that being said, I ALWAYS receive a quick & detailed response when I send in a ticket via the online customer support. So, really I can submit any question, big or small, day or night, via the online customer support and really I prefer to submit my questions/issues in it that way anyway! #2, the recurring billing is not compatible to Authorize.net, which apparently they are working on and will be launched in a near future update.
