We not only share marketing items and images, but we also use Widen as a central location to share other documents and files that are requested from employees regularly. Widen provides a number of permissions so our site keeps the highest security level. Pros Widen is a terrific tool for our global team. We are able to have 24/7 access to all our assets no matter where we are in the world. Items are easily searched and downloaded in a format that works for you. I started with their Widen University videos and articles and I was able to quickly become a power user. Cons Although there are a number of features, learning the best use case can be difficult for new users to DAMs. There are a number of features that require you to turn them on, and sometimes the amount of information available on the feature can be sparse. Files never get corrupted through here which is also another big plus. Pros I love that this is essentially a massive file sharing program for our entire company. Searching and loading files is super easy and organizing things by different categories is also really helpful. Cons I don't like that I have to go through so many prompts in order to download a file. Sometimes the DAM is slow. User management was simple, searching worked well, native features met our clients' needs. Pros Widen Collective was easy to implement in a short period of time. The native features were enough for all of the clients that we rolled this out for. The primary benefit that we saw was time-to-implement versus building our own custom DAM. Cons Long term cost is likely higher than a custom-built DAM for clients not needing all of the features offered by Widen Collective. Pros Helps us manage all of our creative. It allows us to interact with multiple agencies within one system. Cons Some of the steps are tedious. To remove an asset from a collection you have to go back and forth between screens. It can't just be done on the asset itself. Additionally, you can't open assets into a new tab. September 19, 2013 4.0 I've been using Widen for a few years now and have to say that it's functionality and usefulness has grown significantly since I started. We use Widen to store hundreds, if not thousands, of images. The ability to order any size image in any file format at a moment's notice is amazingly helpful. Especially since we often have to accommodate several different kinds of requests on a weekly basis. Widen also helps us distribute high resolution images across the country to our entire sales force without having to worry about the file limitations set on our email servers. This makes the launch of new products a bit easier because they don't have to wait for us to ship materials. I've participated in a few conference calls with Widen employees and have sent several emails back and forth. After a lenghty discussion of creating an indicator for CMYK images vs. RGB images, they were very attentive to our needs and came up with several ideas for us. I've always been very impressed with their professionalism and their willingness to take feedback. I had some trouble with the admin interface last year and they were very helpful, even though I'm sure I was not very easy to deal with at that particular moment. I will say that I've had some confusing situations with Overall, I'm very happy to be using Widen on a weekly basis. Widen DAM platform is great way to share your assets. Collection and categories system is hard to explain if other person can't see the platform, but it's intuitive and gets easy after short interaction. Administrative configuration is complex, but on the other hand gives big control in to whom you give access to you assets. And in most cases needs to be set up once and can be used by several groups of people with same access level. Pros Configurability. Ease of use. Almost no issues. Big amount of supported formats. Cons Complex setup. Layout of dashboard is flexible, but not fully. Roche uses only a portion of what Widen offers for our image collective, but we are truly impressed with the site we have. Pros Roche is about to begin its 9th year with Widen managing its online image collective. With a sales force of more than 300 along with an in-house marketing staff, agencies, and retail clients, having an easy-to-use central location for finding the latest product images has been a huge time saver and an efficient distribution solution. \* Ease of adding new accounts \* Ease of search and categorization \* Ease of releasing / retiring images \* Cost effectiveness \* Prompt support Cons Because of the huge amount of variables available to the admin user, setting up a site with correct user permissions, asset groups, etc. can be intimidating and challenging if there is not a natural bent toward site organization or if a user doesn't have a daily hands-on role. To offset this, Widen offers tremendous support, reviewing site settings set by admins or walking an admin through the logic needed to set up the appropriate permissions.
