Vice President Used the software for: ### "eSub delivers a quality product that is easy to use and meets all of our needs." July 17, 2015 5.0 eSub provides a great cloud-based solution that meets all of our project management and project tracking needs. As a subcontractor, it was nice to finally find a software solution that is tailored to the needs of subs and our work flow. It is easy to use and it has been easily adopted by all of our users, both in the office and in the field. I find that it covers all of the processes of a subcontracting workflow simply, but it is not simplistic. It is a sophisticated piece of software that has increased our internal efficiency and our external "appearance" to our clients. The only small complaint I've had so far with this software is the inability to share some common project submittal information between old and new projects, but this would be a great extra, not a deal killer at all. We have been very happy with eSub's continued enhancements and their technical support staff is very helpful and very easy to get a hold of. I'd rate their support team among the best that I've encountered over the years. If you are a subcontracting firm looking for project management/project tracking software, eSub provides a great solution and is a great value for the price. I'd highly recommend it. It used to take forever to open Timecard Management or wouldn't open at all and I was having to manually enter payroll, but now I don't have that problem. Pros The export feature so time doesn't have to be manually entered in our Payroll system Cons I have to open each and every single job each week to save the Daily Reports and to know what jobs need to be included to export and it takes quite a bit of time. We even attended the bootcamp, which really helped a couple of our team members become more comfortable with the software. I would encourage every subcontractor that purchases eSUB to send a representative or two from to it. Pros The ease of use and how it really dialed in our document control. Our daily reports are standardized now, our PO's can be monitored by our Purchaser and Accounts Payable, our Change Orders are easier to read, and equipment is tracked now. We are able to forecast labor and hold the team to it since hours are always current. eSUB has been very beneficial to our team. Cons Some of the formats or layouts we didn't like right away, but those have improved through the years and should really look great in the next version of eSUB. It has a visual graphic to represent hours used versus budget Cons Phases are not listed numerically, along with many other things where it would make sense. Unable to copy an employees timecard over from the previous week- or hold a default timecard that you could fill in - with an appearance like an excel sheet which would save a lot of time for entry. Unable to export phases for time keeping- which causes manual entry at the end. Everything has to be manually entered. Cons I would like the electronic signature of the workers to be included in the daily reports. For the time card, the signature of the time of entry and exit would be great for the time of generating the Time report. Speaking of the Time report, it would be great if a couple more cells could be implemented that have the cost code and the phase number, the lack of that makes me have to do it manually, which requires more time. I have always had the confidence in using the software because of the very first and initial meeting, deployment, and support I have received from the eSUB support team and those special people who have managed our account! When you take the time to show a customer/user how your product can impact their productivity and success in a positive way, you've gained more than their business, you've gained loyalty! Pros Our 7 year partnership with eSUB has been an inspiring one! Over the years we have seen improvements in the software and when we have questions, concerns, or need further instruction for use of eSUB, we are able to get a response and dedicated support! Cons The software currently is not fully customizable, but we have been assured that this is all changing once eSUB 2.0 is fully released and available for us to deploy all phases. Project Manager Construction Used the software for: 2+ years ### "ESUB Software Review" December 20, 2021 5.0 Overall ESUB has been great, any issue we come accross is handled quickly by their tech support and their client success managers make sure to stay on top of any issues to make sure they get resolved in a timely manner. Pros It is very user friendly, for the older people within the company who are not tech savvy it is easy for them to figure out how to use it. The tabs are well organized and the document tracking is awesome. Cons The only real con that I have is that it does not integrate with Sage 300 very well, it does the basic integration but there are a lot of things that could be worked on so that Sage and ESUB can communicate back and forth better. For example when you enter a purchase order into Sage 300 it will transfer it to ESUB but if you enter a purchase order change order it will not transfer so you have to manually enter it into both Sage & ESUB. The system works well for all three. We looked at other systems last year and this was the most robust that fit our needs as a subcontractor. Cons I would like more flexibility on timecard management, custom reports for example. It's easy to use, although we have had to use several workarounds on the daily. Pros I like being able to see cost codes tracking with the budgets. Real time data allows for quick turns of focus and work. Cons It bothers me that things aren't sorted alpha-numerically in the dropdown menus. The training was hands down the best we have ever received, the customer service is spot on, couldn't be better. Highly recommend this software for all Subcontractors regardless of your size. You will not regret it! Pros Ease of use and its geared to Subcontractors so you don't have to deal with all the General Contractor minutia that doesn't pertain to you. The biggest problem we have had with other software is that there was "too much" and it was overwhelming to some of our less "technological" employees and eventually they just stopped using it and went back to paper. They are actually excited to use this software. It takes them so much less time to manage their daily paperwork & reporting. We used to have to hound our Foreman for paperwork, not anymore. It has also increased productivity in the field as they don't have to wait to get answers from the PM's, they can look up responses and get the answers themselves. On the flip side the time it saves for the Project Manager is unbelievable and I no longer have to wait for answers, they are right there at my fingertips. We actually had a PM retire and with e SUB streamlining all our paperwork our other PM's were able to take on his projects and we didn't have to hire an replacement. This software is priceless! Cons Why didn't they contact me earlier? Can't find any cons right now and if we do I am sure their amazing customer service team will jump on it and take care of whatever it is right away. August 2, 2019 5.0 This product is great all around in terms of use , filing and be able to send them electronically to general contractors is a huge plus . We use the notes sections for progress photos or photos of delays . I can even title daily reports on days where i have rain days or days I do my safety meetings . It’s helped our company as a whole be more efficient with paper work filing and time spent filling out papers making copies as well as storing progress photos . We recently started using the calendar for milestones and it’s going to help even more ! Pros Ease of use and being able to share and explain this program to other contractors that I reoffend this to . They love getting our daily reports via email with the breakdowns of manpower and detailed descriptions of work preformed . Cons There are a few minor things I spoke with Customer Service about . This function is quite good. Cons File upload is capped off at 25MB. Bigger size uploads and previous for those files would be really helpful. Especially on a mobile app. In addition, the rates for change orders need to be saved. This feature is in use, however it affects all projects (including past projects). LAUSD projects have different costs in comparison to other projects.. So adding a keyword that will save these costs in the future would be very helpful in the long run. Review Source SW Seth W. Project Manager Construction Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Medium Sized Subcontractor using esub" July 9, 2015 4.5 Pros The simplicity of Esub is one of the best aspects, the repetitive nature of the system allows anyone to pick it up easily. The tracking and logging of submittals, RFIs, change orders is great. In using other project management systems, they tend to over complicate the interface where as Esub is straight forward and easy to use. Within the system the ability to attach files and use the emailing "@esubdocs" allows all aspects of the project to be documented within the system so that everything you need is all one place. Recently we have started to build our database for cha nge orders and manpower which has allowed us to use the system for logging and tracking of outstanding, approved and voided CORs which allows us to keep track of everything, which is especially helpful on larger projects where we have up to 50 CORs. Cons One aspect we would like to change is the fact that we cannot erase if there is an error made in the submission, we understand the reason, however it would be a nice option if the admin of the system could erase. Another component that we do not use is the drawings logging section, it is too cluttered, we keep track of the drawings through the submissions, which works great for us.
